Pony Corral / G1 MLP Crochet Clothing Patterns?
« on: June 10, 2019, 02:06:17 PM »
Years back you could find several free patterns online to crochet cute little dresses and outfits for the G1 ponies. I used to have copies of them saved to my computer, but they've disappeared and of course Google was no help in finding them again. :(

So I was wondering if anyone here still had copies of any of those crochet patterns? Or any new ones? I'm in the mood to crochet little outfits, but am not so good at free handing it. ;)

Edit: Sorry, wrong section. Haven't been a regular poster in awhile and I didn't see that an Art's & Crafts area had been added until after I posted.

Pony Corral / Re: Replacement lever for my pretty pony?
« on: June 10, 2019, 01:52:59 PM »
I would be so sad. (Makes me hesitant to play with mine now). The only two things I could thing of, would be trying to get ahold of a broken one in really bad condition and swapping out the levers. Or else trying to find someone who has one of those 3D printers?  :(

Pony Corral / Re: MLP ID sites that are still updated?

Thanks, I may have to resort to posting pictures at some point. Was mostly just presorting them and trying to look up who some of them might be for my outdated checklists.

Pony Corral / MLP ID sites that are still updated?
« on: May 29, 2019, 05:25:53 PM »
Haven't been actively collecting in a number of years (any MLPs I found second hand or on sale went into plastic storage totes) So anyway I decided to try and sort through the 4 overflowing totes of unsorted ponies today and was sad to discover so many of the ID sites I had bookmarked either no longer exist or haven't been updated in years. :(

Are there any new MLP ID sites that are still being updated with the new G4 ponies?

Off Topic / Re: Keys

Way to many keys! Apartment: Security door key, Top lock key, Regular door key, (which is fun when your arms are full of grocery bags. ) Back door key, Car key, Storage key, Laundry chute key, Mail box key.

I ended up having color coded keys made, so I just need to look for the right color and pattern per lock instead of fumbling with multiple silver keys. ;)

Pony Corral / Re: New McD ponies in February
« on: February 21, 2016, 03:23:58 PM »
I've been on a break from collecting for awhile, so I didn't know about them until I pulled up to the drive thru for a quick lunch. Then had to go to three different McD's to get them all. The first one had 2, 3, and 4. The second one just had 5 and 6 and then the last one had 7, 8, and one 1 left.

(Then afterword's, the Goodwill that never has ponies had a few ponies, I think the ponies are trying to pull me back into actively collecting again. LOL)

The Dollhouse / American Girl vs Generic Dolls, Size?
« on: January 12, 2014, 11:37:56 AM »
Can anyone tell me which generic (cheap) brand of doll is the closest in size to the American Girl dolls? Clothes, shoes, and accessories fit wise?

My little niece who lives several states away got an American Girl doll for Christmas, but not much in the way of clothes or accessories. So I thought it would be nice for her birthday next month to sew/crochet a bunch of hand made clothes and stuff for her doll. I even went out and bought a couple of American Girl doll patterns. I was all set to start sewing when it hit me... I don't have an American girl doll to model the clothes on.  I really don't want to spend $100+ dollars on a doll that's just going to be a sewing dummy. So I figured since quality doesn't matter I'd pick up one of the generic look alike dolls, problem is I've never seen an American girl doll in real life... any help would be greatly appreciated!

I love the Totsies! I had two of them in my childhood herd. I still have the yellow one, "Banana Bows" But somewhere along the way I lost "Purple Grapes" (I was really original at naming them wasn't I LOL )

I miss the purple one and her doll the most. :( I remember I desperately wanted Megan and Sundance for Christmas one year, but I knew my parents couldn't afford her... Then that Christmas morning I got the Purple Totsies with her purple haired doll friend, well they weren't real MLPs, They where even more special to me because, knowing how much I wanted Megan and Sundance, my parent got me a toy that was as close to Megan and Sundance as they could afford to get me. :)

Which is why I love fakies so much! they make sure that every child, regardless of income, can have their pony dreams come true.

Well I collect everything MLP from all Gens, My favorite will always be G1's! They are the ones I grew up playing with, :) and the ones that lead me to start collecting as an adult. It was well trying to look up their real names online that I stumbled unto the online MLP community way back when.
 :frolic:
G1 - Oh happy, happy childhood memories!
G2 - What happened to MLPs??? between my being to "old" for ponies and rediscovering them as an adult? OH well more to collect.  :)
G3 - Yeah MLPs are back in stores!! their not as cute as the originals, but yeah new ponies to collect!!!  :satisfied:
G3.5 - OK what where they thinking? they look like bigheaded Brat clone ponies...  :|
G4 - Mouse ponies Really???
G4D (dolls) -      (they really aren't that bad, kind of cute I guess, It's just the selling out principle of it that I object to)
G5 - If they keep getting smaller were probably going to need magnifying glasses just to see them...  Look its MLP ants! ...

Pony Corral / Re: Why Dolls?

It's all about the money. Hasbro wants a piece of the MH pie, I guess.

Then why not make monster themed ponies instead of pony themed dolls?  ;) then they could cash in on the monster popularity without losing the pony-ness of MLPs

Pony Corral / Re: Ideas for the G4 Line

A return of the sea ponies would be awesome! I really miss the holiday ponies as well, and I have always thought a set of season themed ponies would be cool. Like a green baby pony for spring, yellow Pegasus pony for summer, earth pony for fall and a white unicorn for winter.  :)  State and/or country themed ponies.

If Hasbro really wants to cash in on the popularity of Monster High Dolls, Instead of pony like dolls, what about monster themed ponies? A white or pink pony with black and purple mane/tail and little vampire fangs for example.

there is just so many ideas they could use.

I understand the reasoning behind the thought that they did it to try and compete with Mattel's doll lines, but the reasoning is backwards, why try to compete with a bunch of doll toy lines that are a dime a dozen when you already have a unique niche in the toy department!?! there is virtually no competition in the fantasy horse/pony area. If they want to be more competitive in the toy market they need to go back to their roots and start releasing more ponies in different styles and characters. G1's and early G3 where insanely popular because of the variety they offered, a variety that encouraged collecting.

I'm not anti doll and I do think they are an interesting idea I just think there is so much more they could have done instead. The fact that once again its the same couple of characters just as dolls, its just one more step away from what MLP was originally supposed to be. It would be different if the Equestria dolls where in addition to a great line up of MLPs, but that just doesn't seem to be happening at least not by me every time I go to the toy isle its the same couple of MLPs on the self getting less and less space all the time and what little space that is left for MLP is now dominated by these dolls. A trend that I'm afraid will continue and get worse. That's where my problem with the dolls come in. As a neat side toy to the MLPs I could of loved them and appreciate them for their uniqueness like Dream Beauties or sea ponies, but they look to be trying to bump MLPs out of the picture.

Pony Corral / Re: Fakie Appreciation Thread!
« on: August 27, 2013, 04:28:07 PM »
you know its really nice to see fakies finally getting the love they deserve! I remember way back when I first joined the online MLP community for some reason those unique non MLPs where hated and reviled. :( I'm so glad the communities attitude towards them are changing for the better. :)

I have always loved them and believe they play a very important roll in the toy world. When I was little my parents couldn't often afford to buy me real MLPs. but there was always an "affordable" fakie pony that they could get me and I'm sure there are a lot of other children out there from lower income families that would never have known the joy of playing with a pony toy if it wasn't for those noble fakies.  :)

That is really gross!! glad I have a top loader, although you can also get a similar problem with top loaders getting an odor after awhile. If you look in the cleaning isle at most stores usually near the dishwasher detergent, they sell washing machine cleaner tablets. Since I started using those once a moth or so I haven't had problems with the washer smelling. Also another thing I didn't know until someone pointed it out to me, is that most washers have a lint filter that needs to be cleaned. I had my machine for over a year before I found that out... It wasn't pretty when I went to clean it. O.o
