Possible new official plushies?

It's too bad Hasbro doesn't look at the quality of plushies available elsewhere and improve their own.  *sigh*

I really wish they would.  I know a lot of the issue is production and packaging cost vs. risk (if the product doesn't sell) - but I think that the thousands of ebay sales for very expensive custom ponies shows that a market for a high quality product does indeed exist.

Doesn't anyone want to order 2000 of each? The Alibaba site is good- but the ALiExpress site is better - you only have to order 100 of each!

The sad thing is that I find myself seriously tempted.   I posted about these in tradersupport- but here are the links to some of the ones I think are the cutest...

So, anyone willing to try getting an order of this on? It'd be doable if we reached out to other communities and had someone VERY trustworthy receive them.

I loved the idea Stuntmang-  but it turns out that the plushies I linked to, aren't even real.  They are using photos of other people's customs sold on ebay and Deviant Art.  The seller will probably try and make you a product that looks "like" the pieces they referenced.  However, it seems very doubtful that the product will come out as nice as the photos.

Also- even if they could turn out a great custom product- the site requires payment by Western Union-  so if the seller sends something terrible (or decides to send nothing at all) - there is not much to be done and no way to get your $$ back.

I agree. I really wish they would. Hasbro just doesn't know what they are missing and how much they are missing in sales because the lack of detail/quality isn't there like it is in the customs.

I think folks would be willing to pay a few more bucks to get a nice plush offered by Hasbro if they looked better.

I have worked with suppliers through sites like alibaba in the past - or at least used it to source factories in China and if you get the right factory you can work well along side them to get the product as you want - a lot of emails and telephone calls, a lot of trial runs and abandoned work, and as much detail to them as possible [try getting them to fabricate a 30m x 25m inflatable which weighs in at 3.5 tonnes - lots of fun!!!]. But as I said the pictures are not what you are getting - when I search Chinese factories sometimes they email me pictures of my own products some of which I have manufactured in Germany lol! The pictures tell you "they can do it" not that they "have done it".

However, this is for my own, my clients or my companies product - there is a big difference between that and sourcing a Chinese factory to start manufacturing "Hasbro characters" on a large scale. So I think its a hiding to trouble to even try.

Reading the site- you don't get the idea that they are using photos of customs that they collected from ebay or DA-  you get the idea that they have what is being offered- and the description even talks about the person who allegedly created the plushie.   Pretty sneaky.

Sneaky yes but honestly thats the way these sites work...as I mentioned I have been offered my own products for sale in the past Its annoying until you realise its a bit like buying a wedding cake - you are not being sold the actual cake in the book, you are being sold in the concept of the cake - you wont get that actual cake pictured but the baker can make something pretty close to that cake and you can make your own little tweaks to the cake design as you go.
