South African pony hunt question

My awesome inlaws are being so awesome that they take me on a trip to south africa this summer
Offcourse I can't let this event go by without driving them crazy with a pony hunt.

Here thriftshops are a common thing. But how is that in south africa?
Where can I find these fine creatures?
If they don't have second hand shoppes, who can I stalk? What kind of people used to have ponies? Rich people? city folk?

Apparently there's like, a South Africa eBay type site where most SA ponies are found. From what I understand, second hand stores aren't common, but I've never been, so I'm not sure. Just giving this a bump for you, mostly, till someone with more knowledge comes along

I'm not sure what the situation is with pony hunting there, but my sister is going there in a few weeks and I've asked her to keep an eye out for me

I'm in South Africa.  I must admit that I've had very little luck finding SA ponies (or any ponies at all!) anywhere other than online.  There are a few charity shops, but I haven't had too much luck in finding any ponies there: I've only ever found 1!  They tend to have mainly clothes and books.

I've spoken to some seller from the SA auction site and they said that they've mainly found ponies at markets.  Any they say they try to get there just as it opens, as the ponies go fast!  PM me and I can give you more details about markets that I know about.

The good news is that you do manage to find ponies, a fairly large percent of them seem to be SA ponies!
