I'm curious about those ponies that are hard to find! What's your grail? :p
-
Those mail order international babies!!
Also, a mint so soft with no yellowing!
-
There is some very rare nirvanas so I am going to say the most expensive are the south african ponies cause all of them sell for close to $1000 I believe
There are some variants for each country that sell for lots to as there is usually only a handful of them these include thai mountain boys, french windy (different coloured hair), sitting pose ponies (I think there is enough of them but the are popular)

as for 'normal released ponies' rapunzel fetches a lot (around $400 odd at the moment she use to sell for more)
mountain boys
year 3 sea ponies and shells
jewelerey babies and taf babies are around $50 odd

I think it all depends on the item, nirvanas and mail orders have dropped in price as more and more are found on the net (aka there are now 100x more toy dealers than there used to be). Accessories certainly push the price up as many collectors will have a hard to find pony, its getting their accessories thats even harder! E.g. Seaside baby floats, jewelry baby necklaces & rings......

Greek Ladybird and Lambaditsa (sp?) are pretty up there..

I think for many people a grail and the most hard to find/rarest ponies are possibly completely different things :)
I would agree outside the US mail orders and some of the International HK releases, Nirvana ponies are going to be the rarest and the most expensive - mainly those which are OOAK.
As to grails - for me personally its no longer a pony, right now its the little minty coloured ribbon barrette which came with Ringlets the Euro great hair pony. Its very rare but its not super valuable - so a grail for me and rare but not truly expensive as not incredibly sought after!
-
my gen 1 us grail pony is of course Rapunzel I wold love to get my hands on one , at least missing the hair so i can re hair her. other than that I have my huge list of nirvana ponies whom I only have two of.
-
my grails are Gypsy and g4 starswirl :)

Greek Ladybird and Lambaditsa (sp?) are pretty up there..
I would LOVE to have Ladybird, and she seems to be pretty rare with a fair amount of people who'd love to have her. Since it's incredibly unlikely that I'll ever have one, I would love to see someone else's Ladybird in person. I Think that she was going for $2,000 or more mint in egg, but that could be totally off. And then there was an Ebay seller using fake eggs, which may have confused pricing.

I guess ponies from South Africa are TOP rare ponies and very high priced and there aren't much around.
-
does Chief's hat count? I'd also like the rest of the mountain boys, but I'm patient. :D

Well the one pony I would want "back" actually, is one of the ponies who is the rarest girl in the the whole world... Greek Green Baby Cuddels... I sold her as a teenager at the flea market, and I know who has her at this moment, so I am still happy she is in a great home, but I would still very much wish to have her for myself...
Otherwise I would not be too sure which ponys would be highest on my wish list. As I got myself Glow in the Dark hair Princess Royal blue as well, and I have Brazil Baby Gusty too, so... But Greek green Baby Cuddels is a very very rare one indeed.
-
I would say either certain Greek ponies or the South African ones. As far as North American releases, probably the later mail orders (Valentine twins, Rapunzel, TAF babies, etc.).
-
I'm going to say real Takaras. How many of the blue haired adults have been found? One?
But my personal favorite is Spanish Milky Way. If I win the lottery, I want her MOC.

Blind Bag error ponies. They're one of a kind^^

oh i forgot about the seaside babies... i just read g4 minty sold for $650 so yeah she is pricey atm.. I am shocked by it actually
