I had a new arrival yesterday! My camera can't really capture how pretty she is, but I am so in love with her! Not sure about a name yet, but I'm thinking maybe Tyra?

The only trouble is that now my serious pouty-face Bygg looks soo sad next to her colorful new friend. I hope she'll look a bit better when she gets her purple wig!

I do like them together, doesn't it look like they are trying to hold hands?

He is most definitely going to be John Constantine, heh.

That's what I thought. Great choice of character!!  :lovey:

Ohmygoodness. I absolutely love their little feet! They look so precious, and the detailing on the little furry bits are so sweet.

So Tyra (name pending) is a Soom Cheshire, yes? May I ask which body is Bygg? I'm still new to BJDs and assume that she's the same make, but don't know the models. Those little faun feet are just too cute, though! I'd love to look up more photos of her. :)

Yes, Tyra is a Soom Jr Cheshire, and Lirael is a Soom Bygg. They were limited and long sold out from Soom, but can be found on the second hand market with a little luck! Do look them up, they are gorgeous dollies! :)

Soom teenies do come up second hand quite a lot - all but one of my soomlings has come from the secondhand market. This little gal is probably my favorite of my teenie gems. But don't tell the others ;)

OH! Silly me, I thought Bygg was her name, rather than the make! My mistake. She has super cute little legs. :)

Where have you had the best luck with second hand buys, out of curiosity? I've talked to other BJD enthusiasts and collectors who have each given different answers, so I'd love your feedback on that front.

Den Of Angels is where I do most of my shopping. 2 of my dolls have come from ebay. Wherever I shop I always check for certificate of authenticity and, if the seller is someone I'm not familiar with or doesn't have a lot of  feedback, I ask for additional photos.

Cheers. I had wondered last year if Den of Angels was still the go-to for buying secondhand, and multiple people have said that it is (with a few saying "well, actually, I buy from ____"). Last time I looked there was years ago on a whim, and it was just very, very intimidating to get started out. There were so many people who had basically lost all patience for newcomers, that I just kind of shied away and read individual blogs for a while instead. hahaha

What are your thoughts on people selling via social media like Facebook, Instagram or Tumblr? I've seen a people advertising sales on Tumblr and Instagram, and I know there are BJD sales groups on FB. Obviously, the same safety precautions apply, but would you reckon they're more or less as safe as Den of Angels? Or does DoA really make use of the benefit of its specialised rules and regulations?

I'm in quite a few sales groups on FB and Flickr that are pretty active and I've listed things for sale on there but never actually completed a transaction through there. I have noticed that Instagram is becoming really active in doll activity lately and I have browsed sales on there too. I will say I just generally feel safer on DoA, especially for high dollar items. While it's possible for scammers to show up anywhere people tend to be more vigilant on DoA. Having a built in feedback system is great too - it's easy to see what kind of history sellers have.

I've had several positive transactions through DoA, but I've also bought/traded BJDs through here with success. Personally I would be hesitant to use social media without a feedback system!
