How to get better at airbrushing?
« on: September 15, 2015, 01:29:16 PM »
Well I sorta got the hang of using my airbrush but the finished work isn't coming out perfectly smooth at all. There are all sorts of drips and thin spots that appear as it sits and dries. What am I doing wrong and is there any way I can improve my technique?

For me it was just practice and figuring out how my brush, which tips, and what paint thickness worked best for me. When I got a new airbrush, I had to figure it out again. Try adjusting those things until you get them to a place that works for you. Also, different paints will need a bit of figuring again, but you'll get a feel for it in time.

Haha, is that a trick question? Practice practice and then more practice- and then a little more.

Experiment with adjusting the viscosity.

Make sure to take your brush apart completely every time to prevent clumping and clogging.

Oh and more practice.

So much this ^^

Dripping while drying sounds like your paint is too thin or you sprayed it on too thick. Or a combo of the 2.

Practise makes perfect, also good idea to watch how to videos on YouTube and try what you see. And yeah your paint sounds too thin if it's dripping
