Merpony WIP

Hello! This custom has been a loooooong time coming. I actually cut the legs off of the Pinkie Pie bait... uh, a year or so ago, actually. Whoops. 

I'm off this week for Spring Break and the dressmaking project I had planned ran into a roadblock, so I was looking for something crafty to do instead. I found legless Pinkie hiding in a drawer along with some old Sculpey, and I figured, what the heck?

She's my third custom so far, and my first attempt at sculpting on a pony! Her neck got a little deformed in the oven, so there's a bit of a tear on one side, but overall I'm super happy! I even managed to get the neck plug back in her head this time, so she can still turn her head and everything. I left her hair because I didn't have any to rehair her with, and I actually wound up liking the pink. I plan on doing the eyes tomorrow, along with adding some details to the tail.

I think I need to rethink my acrylics, though. The black irises on my first custom seem to have bled a little bit, and the white eye shines turned purple. Any suggestions?

Nice job, if you seal each color after you paint it or put a primer under them they should not bleed like they are doing now.  Best of luck.

She looks adorbs. If you're having paint discoloration you may need to seal between layers or will need a few layers of white.

Amazing work for your first sculpting job! As for paint bleeding, another thing that may help is to let the paintwork dry properly before sealing. It may depend on the sealant but with mine I've noticed it's best to wait a couple of days after you've painted the pony. The paint feels completely dry to touch but sometimes the paint smears or there's bleeding if I seal too early - 24 hours or 48 hours can really make a difference.
