loginOK!!! So this is my end of a trade with BarbedDragon... she wanted a zombiefied version of her persona Taco and this is what I came up with
Taco was a lovely pony once upon a time. Then the Zombie Apocalypse happened and the big, goofy pony became one of the Undead.... and developed a bit of an obsession with bones. Carefully he collects bones - his, other ponies'... he isn't picky
Unfortunately the big goofy bone collector has a drooling issue - but when you're a zombie you have to wonder if drool is really the worst thing you're gonna have to deal with, right?
Originally Taco had gorgeous bat wings... I pondered them for ages before deciding that I wanted to do just the bones. Turns out skeleton bat wing is much harder to do than I first imagined!! I decided to only do one side after my first few fails - the other one seems to have been snapped off at the base... and being a bone collector, Taco carefully collected - and drooled all over - the fragments for his collection. I made several wings before this one finally turned out exactly how I wanted - I really really love how it turned out - so much so that I decided to omit the bits of wing skin I was going to add to it... I think theres something creepy about it
The whole wing is wired together and into Taco, for extra strength.
I also decided to go in a new direction with his wound and try something I've never done before... SPINE. I LOVE it - theres tiny little ribs and bits of flesh and blood and awesomeness.
SO! Wounds, wings and sculpted bits are all Magic Sculpt. Airbrushed in artist grade acrylics with my mottled body colour technique. The symbol and eyes are both hand painted with the same artist grade acrylics - the eyes (big gold dragon eyes) are barely visible underneath the white 'dead cataract' skin bit
Body is sealed with Dullcote, blood with Modpodge gloss, eyes with triple thick. Drool is swirled with blood and is a mix of paints, triple thick and tonnes of time spent trying to perfect the bloodied drool effect
The bones across the base, his mouth and bone collection all have drool... I'd like to thank Jethro, my pretty bloodhound boy, for educating me on the wonders of drool and providing the inspiration
Hair is Sour Grapes, Ultra Violet, Cherry Pie, Pomme D'Amour, Bobby Blue and After Midnight.
Base is airbrushed black and splattered using my blood splattering techniques. The bones are all sculpted, attached and covered in blood and drool (I especially love the puddle of drool underneath Taco's head).
Theres also felt on the bottom so it woun't scratch any surface its placed on
I am THRILLED with how Taco turned out, and I am very glad BarbedDragon is too
His dA is ->
