Extra Fuzzy Ponies?

I wonder if anyone knows where to get the kind of flocking used on these guys.

I agree that it kind of looks like fabric, or maybe some kind of knitted/crochetted yarn, rather than flocking.  I think what gives flocking the even, fuzzy effect is how small it is, anyway.  Trying to flock with long fibers would be difficult to get them to all stand "up".

Oh I am positive it is a type of flocking. I have seen it also used to make grass for model trains but all the ones I have found have been "natural" colors like green and brown.

My grandfather is heavily into model train sets, and he has a city that he is always working on for them. The "flocking" on these guys just doesn't look anything like his fake grass in the train station. And even if it was like astro turf, that is still rolled out in a sheet, I think.

Good luck finding actual flocking to do this. I just can't see it as anything other than a fabric glued onto it. Maybe you can locate someone who owns one and ask them if they can tell if it is fabric or flock.

I found a picture of one getting defuzzed on flickr and it looks like pretty much the same process as deflocking.

What they use to do this has to exist. I'm just worried it might be one of those things that is only available in crazy huge amounts from China. Of course if that is the case then maybe one of the custom supply suppliers could look into carrying it since I am sure others might be interested and it might also be good for dolls too.

Huh. It does look like flocking once they get to breaking it down. It just looks so much like it isn't when it's actually on the darn thing.
