Title: G5 Dismantling - 3 Inch Brushables
Post by: tailrustedtealeaf on August 27, 2021, 11:36:09 AM
New pony, new dismantlement guide. :)

I performed a total bait process on Sunny Starscout from the Unicorn Party Celebration set. This process should be the same for all other 3-inch brushables with manes and tails. Not sure about Hitch.

These pictures aren't the greatest but should help you if you wish to customize G5 ponies as well.

Head
More or less the same as the Pony Life/G4.5 ponies. Here's a link to that guide (http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,397522.0.html).

They have two rows of plugs on the back of their head with the balljoint...receiver? attached to a separate, glued on piece of plastic. You can cut around this plastic by following the seam. I like to leave a small arc of the plsatic uncut so I don't lose the plug but you can cut it off wholly. It will need glue to re-attach regardless.

On the inside, you will see a glueless factory weave! I was very happy to see this as it means customizing them will be somewhat easier compared to scraping at G3 glue for hours.

As a bonus, the nearness of the head and the wide neck plug means you can fairly easily use a needle and floss or lock-and-loop method to rehair. I'll probably use the LaL kind when I customize her.

Body
I would not blame anyone if they didn't want to actually properly dismantle the body. It's a bit of work.

Like Pony Life ponies, there is no way to access the tail through the neck. You instead need to look to their stomachs, there is an oval piece of plastic glued there. Follow the seam with your knife, and don't be afraid to push in somewhat when you are on the longer sides of the oval.

Here's her tummy starting to peel up. It took a bit of muscle and messing with her to get the plug up.

The plug isn't actually a perfectly even oval thickness-wise. It's got two small flaps.

Here's a little diagram to show you what it looks like completely removed.

There is a rather large chamber for the tail and its clasp to sit. You will feel when your knife is in the chamber.

Here's her body all apart! I left part of the belly plug on again because I don't want to lose it. You can pretty easily remove the tail through the belly. The clasp is smaller than G4 ponies! And now I have a tail to guage thickness with.

I can help answer questions with better pictures if there are any. I'm off to brainstorm a plan for her!
