Pony Corral / Re: Do you have new appreciation for any of your ponies?
« on: November 17, 2016, 05:17:11 PM »
Sunlight. She was my second G1 pony, and the first G1 pony I ever found at a flea market. Her symbols were damaged pretty badly, and instead of just simply adding new glitter to them, I repainted them with metallic gold and silver paints to make her more unique. She's normally hidden behind my Starglow, but every time I do take a closer look at her, I love her more and more. Her hair is so ridiculously shiny!

I would think sewing hair in that is on a weft (https://www.amazon.com/Stepupgirl-Chisato-Color-Synthetic-Extension/dp/B01986MSHE/ref=sr_1_30_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1473971600&sr=1-30&keywords=stepupgirl+pink) would be easier than trying to use Dollyhair.

Maybe an incision along hair line, remove old hair, lay new weft in, and then sew fur/fabric around it.  It might even be worth it to find her original small hand sewn section and open it up.  You could slightly de-stuff and then sew hair in from the inside.  Good luck! :)

Oh, wow, this looks like it might just work!!! Thanks so much!!

Pony Corral / G1 Plushie with Bad Haircut
« on: September 15, 2016, 09:34:03 AM »
When I was little, I got a Cotton Candy plushie with the absolute worst haircut ever. I recently dug her out of the attic, and would love to see her get fixed up. However, I can't find any information about putting new hair into a plush pony, and it's driving me crazy. Is there any way to do this, or is she stuck with short hair?
Also, if it is possible to give her new hair, what color is the closest match? The hair on the plush doesn't seem to match the plastic pony's hair.

Pony Corral / Re: White Windy with Blue symbol?
« on: September 15, 2016, 09:24:30 AM »
Yeah, the blue symboled one is considered either a minor variant or an odd version of fading, depending on who you ask. :)  It is similar to my white Bluebelles, but it's much harder to figure out if she is actually white or just a victim of regular fading, since the light color of regular Windy fades to a greyish white color, unlike Bluebelle where it's really obvious something is going on, haha.

Well, I did open her up to clean some rust inside of her, and she was completely white on the inside, too. When a pony fades, does the inside get affected, too?

Windy is a very, very pale lavender, and it sometimes will bleach out to near-white or white. :)

The blue symbol is also from pigment leeching out.  I don't know why, but red pigment seems more unstable than other pigments.  Purple is a mixture of blue and red.  So when the red leeches out, it leaves the blue.

(The thing with red paint also happens outside of pony-paint.  The post office in my hometown had a mural of postage stamps painted on it, and over the years all the red paint turned blue.  So now there's a cow with a blue tongue, lol.)

Ah, I see. The only thing that's confusing me is that the little information I can find of this "white Windy" claims that she's a UK variant of some sort. So everywhere I look, I'm finding different information.

Pony Corral / White Windy with Blue symbol?
« on: September 15, 2016, 08:48:57 AM »
In July, I purchased a Windy from a collector at a toy show for $10. She was in pretty rough shape, but everything was fixable. The worst was the surface dirt, and when I cleaned it all off, she was white!!! I also noticed that her symbol is blue. Isn't Windy supposed to be lavender with a purple symbol?

I have some pictures of her, although they aren't very good.

Pony Corral / Re: MLP not at Walmart?

My local Wal-Mart has had a small selection of ponies, too. My guess is that they're getting ready to put some new ponies in stock.

Welcome to the Arena :)

I love G1 and G3 the most!  How many do you have in your collection so far? :frolic:

Only three G1s at the moment. Despite living in a big city with lots of flea markets and thrift stores, I never seen to find any around here. As for G3, I've lost count. I practically find them everywhere.

Hello, EverEverOn! Welcome to the Arena!

Do you have a favorite pony or generation to collect? Enjoy the forums!

I love all of the generations, although I've got to say that G1 is probably my favorite. Sadly, I only have three from that generation, but I love them anyway.

I'd love to own one someday, but considering she goes for ridiculously high prices, I'd settle with a grubby Mimic for a low price.

I'm not a huge fan of them myself, but if I ever did get one in excellent condition, I wouldn't deflock it.

At a toy show I found a G1 lunch tin going for $20, I'm excellent condition. Of course, I had already spent all my money on other pony stuff. Maybe another day.

My collection is still rather small, although I never remember how many ponies I've got. All I can remember is what I have and what I don't.

Pony Corral / Re: How do you organize your stored ponies?

I'm the worst when it comes to organizing ponies. The best I can do is putting all of the G4s on one shelf and all other generations mixed together. I am hoping to find a creative way to display them sometime soon.
