Pony Corral / Re: Baby Buggy or Paradise Estate topper?
« on: September 14, 2023, 03:37:13 PM »
I have both sets, but unfortunately they are in storage at my mom's house and I can't check immediately. However, here is what I remember from them: the baby buggy one was lighter pink in color, and had a longer 'stem' than the Paradise Estate umbrella table one had. Probably because the buggy one was supposed to have a ribbon tied on it. But the PE one was definitely more of a darker pink. I'm thinking this is the one you have here. They are interchangeable as far as function; I remember this because my sister and I each had one of the buggies, and she lost her heart topper. I used to lend her the PE one for her buggy when we wanted to play with the 2 buggies together. I will check to confirm and take pics of them together when I can.

You are so very lucky to have found these! It is a hard piece to find if you are looking for one, believe me. I have my sister's buggy in my possession now, and it took me forever to find a new heart topper to complete hers. Nobody ever just sells it separately. I think I ended up paying like $40-ish for a big lot of other pony clothes, accessories and junk that I mostly already had just to get it.  :pout:

Pony Corral / Re: Best way to de-yellow this baby blossom?

My childhood Baby Blossom was way worse than this, super yellowed, and she sunfaded perfectly.

I know I just replied yesterday, but I had to update...I'm not sure where everyone is finding these, but I couldn't imagine it could be as bad as all that, so I looked on the website of Five Little Diamonds, a UK-based retailer I follow on Instagram, and she has Firefly on sale right now for $20.53 USD, on sale from $24.15 I believe. I don't know what that translates to in £...I assume that it just converts what I see to USD based on my device's location. It says Moondancer and Glory are 'coming soon', and their price is also listed at $24.15. Just sayin'...if anyone is looking for them at a decent price, it says she has 4 more Fireflys in stock, and it sounds like the other 2 characters are on the way! I might order one myself, if she ships worldwide...I think she does.

Wanted! / Re: ISO baby buggy's heart topper

Following, in case anyone chimes in with a place to buy repros. I searched high and low for one of these a couple of years back to complete my better-condition buggy, and finally ended up paying $30 or 40 for a lot with a bunch of other pony clothes and accessories just to get it, but I could really use a couple more for my other buggy and second Paradise Estate umbrella table. I hope you find one!

They look like they are in really good condition, with very little yellowing. Congrats!

Sorry to hear of your girlfriend passing.

Thanks for a fun interview! Tootsie is my underappreciated pony as well. Glad to see her getting some more love. :jealous: <---I just realized that this little icon means jealous...never knew that before! I'm not jealous, I just like the little Tootsie emoji. :)

I love these interviews! I enjoy getting to know everyone better. Just a suggestion...it would be really cool if there was a separate section for the interviews, so we could find them easily if we want to go back and read them all!

Nice to get to know you, Gator! I am so very sorry that you were belittled for liking ponies as a kid. I see a lot of male pony collectors, and toy collectors in general, on Instagram. I'm happy it is becoming more acceptable. As a female collector about your age, I still feel a bit of stigma as a toy collector and while some family and friends know I collect them, I think they'd be alienated by the *extent* of my collections if they saw them.

I knew a lot of boys in the 80's that had Care Bears. But other than that, I do remember it being a time when boys would definitely be bullied for liking anything 'pink' or girly in grade school back then. I don't know if things have gotten better for kids today...my son really loved ponies for a while and has probably 15 or 20 MLPs, both vintage G1s and Basic Fun ones. He is 7. He's moved onto other things, but not because they are traditionally 'girl' toys. He will see me looking at pony stuff online and still be interested and ask me about them. No one at his school has bullied him about his interests, but he also goes to a small Catholic school and the kids are probably a lot gentler and kinder than a large city school, so I don't know for sure.

I don't collect plushes, but I think these are very well done and very cute. $40/$65 seems a bit out of line for a plush. I can only see collectors paying this price for one. I wouldn't spend that on a toy like this for my kid. But I am more excited to see these than I am any of the other 40th anniversary releases...more collector pose ponies don't interest me... :snore:...nor do the celestial ponies really intrigue me that much.

Off Topic / Re: Wisdom Teeth Removal
« on: February 18, 2023, 12:23:01 PM »
Glad all went well. I was dumb enough to wait until my late 30's to get mine out. My lowers were still impacted, and I had no choice but to go under for the surgery. Not that I in a million years would have wanted to be awake for that! :scared: Well turns out, if you wait as long as I did, your roots can grow down into this nerve in your lower jaw, and that was the case with mine. One was wrapped around this nerve, and my surgeon had a lot of trouble digging it out. Had some nerve damage afterward and couldn't feel the inside of my right cheek for months. I think it's mostly back to normal now, or else I've just gotten used to it.

And of course I got the dreaded dry socket. If you get it, ask for a clove pack. I know...it sounds terrible, but it worked wonders on the spot.

Pony Corral / Re: Hallmark Ornament this year?
« on: January 11, 2023, 05:19:25 PM »
Thanks everyone...that's disappointing. I was kind of hoping they would do one every year. We have Cotton Candy, Firefly and Applejack so far. I didn't buy Powder last year due to the quality issues with the broken-off leg, and Moondancer seems to be out of my price range.

I have the Powder G1 from last year or the year before (forget when I got it). I really wanted to get the new G5 ones and the pinkie pie one but sadily didnt.

Check your Walmart...ours had the Zipp ornaments for 75% off. I think I paid like $2.50 for mine. If you want, I can see if mine still has them...there were a ton of them a few days ago when I was there; I'm happy to grab one for you if you can't find one.

Pony Corral / Hallmark Ornament this year?
« on: January 11, 2023, 06:50:13 AM »
Hi all! I haven't been on much lately...kids and school are keeping me busy. But as I was perusing the aisles of clearance Christmas items, I realized that I completely forgot to look for this year's MLP ornament! When I got home, I tried to Google it, but the only thing I could find for 2022 was Zipp, and a really hideous Pinkie Pie one. Did Hallmark not release a G1 ornament this year?

I bought the Zipp ornament for 75% off. I'm not really into G5, but if I had to like one of the characters, it would be Zipp.

Do you remember what error message you got, if any?

It has been a hectic weekend to try to ship anything out, especially since the post offices were closed on Monday. It is possible that she shipped per your original agreement and her messenger was causing an error. I imagine if her account were to be deleted, you would still have some sort of recourse via Metapay, but I haven't used that service so I can't say for sure. Most sophisticated selling apps have functions like that and will protect you, so long as you are timely in contacting for help (as in, within a month).

It was just an exclamation point and said 'couldn't send' in red. I'll put up a screenshot of what it said...is this what it looks like when you've been blocked?

I want to give the benefit of the doubt and hope that her messenger really just is not working, and that holiday delays are keeping the package from arriving, so I feel like a jerk for filing a claim this soon until I know for sure that she actually blocked me. I'll look into MetaPay's options...looks like StarryEmerald sent a link I can check out.

I found the page on MetaPay's Purchase Protection and it says you can contact them with a claim two days after contacting the seller (https://www.facebook.com/help/228307904608701).

Thank you so very much! I'll check this out and see what my options are. This will hopefully help.

Trader & Shipping Support / Ugh...did I just get scammed?
« on: January 04, 2023, 09:22:56 AM »
Sorry this is so long...I'm not good at condensing my words! But anyway...I can't believe I was so dumb. I responded to a marketplace posting on Christmas Eve. I asked if the seller was willing to ship the item. She responded the next day when I was right in the middle of my family's Christmas celebration, so I was admittedly distracted. She asked for my zip so she could quote shipping, and she did. I didn't really have a chance to respond yay or nay until later that evening when I got home, and when I tried to reply that I did want the item, the message wouldn't send. I tried several times, but kept getting the same error message. I couldn't even seem to get back to the original posting or view the seller's profile. I finally gave up, figuring maybe she had sold it to someone who responded quicker than I did, and had deleted the post. So I went to bed.

The next morning, I had an idea; my phone has been really full and I had taken lots of pics at my parents' house of the kids. So I thought maybe that was the problem, and cleared a bunch of stuff out. It then let me send a message...I apologized for the delay and said I was still interested if the item was still available. I didn't hear back for several days. Wednesday she messaged back and said that HER messenger had been screwy for a couple of days and apologized, and said yes, the item was available. I asked if she took PayPal, and she said no, she doesn't have PayPal, but I should be able to pay through FB messenger and use PayPal. I went in and figured it out, however when it gave me the option to use PayPal it said there would be fees, so since it just let me pay with a debit card without going through PayPal, I did. (Apparently, this is called MetaPay?) I probably would have been more circumspect about this, but during this conversation, I was running errands and driving around, and I just wanted the transaction over with. Stupid!! She said she would most likely mail it out the following day at lunchtime.

That would have been Thursday. I know it hasn't even been a week, but I just got a nagging bad feeling even the next day about the transaction. She never messaged to say she had sent the item out, or gave a tracking number or anything. I figured I'd give her a couple of days; it was a holiday week. But then yesterday I decided to message her asking if there was a tracking number, and I just got an error message again, just like I did on Christmas night.

I'm a little freaked out that I can't get ahold of this person. I'm not really buying the 'my phone is messed up' excuse a second time. I admit that I'm completely new to buying and selling online, and I probably should have vetted this person out a little more before blindly buying from her. I'm also very inexperienced on the workings of Facebook, as I do not use it on a regular basis as a social network, only the occasional marketplace transaction (up until now, only local cash transactions), and I don't even have the Facebook app; I only access it through my phone's browser. I'm also a little worried, because I gave this person my address...not sure if she could use that as a verification somewhere to get more money out of my account...I did check my bank account and while the amount for the transaction came out as expected, there is no other suspicious activity.

Do I have any recourse at all, through MetaPay? If there is in fact a way to file a claim, how long should I wait? I'm not sure 6 days is a fair amount of time to give someone before filing, but I don't want to give her any extra time to obliterate her account or, basically find a way to 'disappear', if she hasn't already. I did take screenshots of my entire conversation with her, as well as of the original post. Any help is appreciated!
