I've posted my art here before but it's been so long that my thread closed... so here's a new one! :heart:

So my aim (aside from animation and design!) has always been to design ponies that could have conceivably been in the G1 line, thus here are the Cloudpuff Ponies!
They are flocked ponies with fluffy puffy hair aside from a 'normal' forelock. like the Perfume Puffs and if you followed my previous thread you might have seen some earlier iterations of them too! :heart:
They are inspired by how gimmicks started to combine later on down the line, like the Princess Brush 'n Grows - I hope you all like them!

THANKYOOU! Clipper actually commented that they might just be a possibility of them becoming HQG1 in the future and I am just over the moon aaah...!


So uh, anyway, here's my next design set! :heart:

My thought process was basically as Winger Ponies (Summer Wings and Windy Wings) were originally intended to be Baby Flutter Ponies, my thoughts for Baby Flutters went in a different direction - caterpillars! They are teeny-tiny sized with pearlescent tails and tiny little flutter wings! Just like adult Flutter Ponies, they have a lil' symbol on their cheek :heart:

I hope you all like them just as much as The Cloudpuff Ponies! These ones actually took a lot longer due to the complexity of the art and I struggle with digital watercolours XD

Yeah these guys might be a tad difficult to make - I'm hoping to start practicing digital sculpting so hopefully I'll be able to do so in the future!

She popped into my head and I just had to get her down on paper! A rather out-of-season Christmas pony - although it's close to Christmas in July so...? XD
She's meant to have Argie Masquerade's hot red/pink body colour, because that's something we never saw in the standard US release ponies (although Lady Flutter becomes close!)

Ah thankyou so much! I kinda wanted to invert the typical Christmas pony colours! I feel like I didn't execute the symbol quite as well as I wanted to though >_< but I'm glad you like it!

Your concepts are absolutely stunning - each of them. As mainly G1 customiser I'd love to give them a life and think about how to do them best but when they play with the though of becoming part of the HQG1C line (especially the cloudpuff ponies) more people would have access to the final ponies.

Continuing my trend of favouring the various gimmick mashups that occurred later in the G1 line, here are the Rock Candy Ponies! <3
Scented, sparkly, translucent rock stars with crystalline candy guitars and electrifying crimped manes!
The glitter in their bodies is the large chunky mylar stuff, giving them a really crystalline texture and they also have iridescent tinsel in their manes - they're pretty much a combination of some of my favourite G1 aesthetics and I hope you guys love them as well!
This is also one of my favourite backgrounds I've ever designed -- I usually struggle with them due to my lack of depth perception but I think this one turned out great, especially the candy dance floor!

Those are so cool! I think the chunky, crystalline glitter would translate wonderfully into an actual plastic body. It sounds really pretty :heart: Bubblegum Pop is my favorite!

Thankyou for letting me know, I'll try and get them working again, they were the individual design details for each pony in the Cloudpuff set ;)

The Rock Candy Ponies are awesome!  Ah, it would be so cool to see them brought to life.  The large glitter stuff in the translucent plastic sounds like it would really look like rock candy!  :cool:

The designs and set ideas are lovely and creative, but the presentation is truly amazing! They really capture that Hasbro feeling, and makes me think we could've gotten something like this if G1 MLP had kept going throughout the '90s.

Would love to hear if you have any more ideas in the works. :)

I GOT THE TIMING RIGHT YEAAAH! <3
I really wanted to do a Halloween set, as we never got one in G1, but also, in keeping with the G1 line, black was never used as a main (hair/body) colour and it's one of the big Halloween colours, so I wanted to challenge myself to make a seasonal line without it!
These ponies all glow in the dark, and I had to restrain myself from madding any extra features, otherwise every line I design would wind up being a glitterbomb XD
I'm also super proud of the background for this one, as you may know it's something I struggle with so I really tried hard on this one to make it as atmospheric as possible!

They all look very beautiful and thematically fitting! My favorite.. Tossup between Spooky Surprise and Pumpkin Patch.

I would like to suggest darkening the text used for the names a bit, though, or at least making it more blue. Right now it's a little hard to read Unicornucopia and Cauldron Candy's names.

Aaah better late than never? XD
These guys have been on the backburner for over a year, as G1 never did any Easter ponies (well, standard issue US/UK G1 didn't) and I wanted to make some! <3
Went off of the feel of our two official Greek Easter ponies (Ladybird and Lambaditsa) which is why Marshmallow Frosting is in the sitting pose and shares similar colours; I wanted her to feel familiar but not be a copy of either preexisting pony if that makes sense?
I imagine they're chocolate scented, or perhaps vanilla.... Greek pony plastic is meant to smell like vanilla from what I've heard, so perhaps that works well?
Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy them! <3

(Also I'm so sorry for my long absence, depression has really been sapping my creativity of late :drunk:)

I've just moved house so a bit busy to work on any new sets, but I did have time to draw this! A rework of my VERY first custom pony (she was actually a fakie haha), Candy Confetti!
She's meant to fit with the second set TAF ponies and her rearing pose mimics that of the original fakie base <3

You have a talent for art and a lot of creativity...and the combination of those two things is giving us G1 fans some very imaginative designs!

I FINALLY FINISHED THEM! These guys have been in my head for like a year...!
They're another gimmick combo, this time they're flocked AND scented, it's meant to look a bit like a powdered sugar coating, hence the name, I hope you enjoy! <3

Yes, that is what I was going for! I'm so sad we didn't get many seasonal ponies in G1 :cry:

Anyway, for an art update, I'm working on something! It's been hectic as my fiance and I got into a car accident just before Christmas, so we're still dealing with the aftermath of that (don't worry we're mostly fine! We had to get a new car and my back problems are worse than before but I'll live...!)

So, WIP backcard art for my next set! See if you can guess what it'll be! :heart:

I have returned! :heart:

This set was a challenge to myself, as I usually don't like floral themes, but I actually really like how these girls turned out! <3
The Precious Petal Ponies are flower-scented, like their names, and their symbols are 3D domed cabochons, with floral-shaped sequins and glitter that you can shake around inside!
The gold parts are like chrome gold, so their symbols are somewhat similar to the Princess Ponies crossed with the Precious Pockets if that makes sense? They're inspired by potpourri too!
This background was also my most ambitious one to date, and I'm also quite proud of it haha, I've always wanted to paint one of those old-style fancy gilt greenhouses.
I hope you enjoy!

These are amazing! Each set had me wondering why didn't Hasbro think of these?! Especially the Precious Petals. Little cabochon symbols would have been genius. I would collect the whole set of Precious Petals, Rock Candy Ponies, and Cloud Puff Ponies for sure!

Sorry it took approximately one million years, I actually wound up being evicted and had to move house haha, but all's well now, here are the kitties!

So my thought process was 'all of the Teeny Tinies are kind of named for cats, so what if you went even further with the cat theme?' XD
Thus the Fancy Feline Baby Ponies! I had to include Clipper in the backcard stopry after I came up with the pun 'Purr-adise Island' haha.
They're flocked with kitty tails and eyes! I know they might not be everyone's cup of tea (much like the Flutterpillars) but I hope you enjoy! <3

somehow I missed this thread... these are INCREDIBLE. They are so cute and I want them. I may have to try to sculpt them or something, they are just so delightfully weird and perfect, I think there must be an alternate universe where I spend a truly ridiculous amount of $$ on tiny violet on some version of ebay....

Introducing the Bubble Belle Ponies! These girls are translucent with an iridescent coating (think the Starlight Baby Ponies!) as well as a plume of iridescent tinsel at the front of their mane, like the second set Princess Ponies, as well as more tinsel in their mane - VERY sparkly overall lol!

This background might also be my favourite so far, it's very much inspired by the 1996 Polly Pocket Bubbly Bath compact, which is my favourite one of all time, it's just all so dreamy aaa...

A bit late for Halloween but oh well!  ^.^

For something a little different, I had a crack at the post-1992 G1 box art style! I thought it would work better in terms of the expressiveness I wanted for this piece ;)
Introducing Bubble Brew and her newborn twins, Toil and Trouble! The idea for their names came first, and then everything else followed swiftly haha.

Also to note, I had to recreate the background and logo from scratch as 'clean' versions don't exist of them haha, I'm pretty pleased with the outcome!

These are so nice! I'm surprised I haven't seen them before. I really like your art style at the beginning where the drawings look a bit like the Italian stationary set I have. If Merry Marshmellows are what I think you have in mind (a winter theme?), I vote for those.

I really feel they would, but Hasbro seems reluctant to directly make anything G1-related (using the original sculpts at least) themselves, and defer it to third-parties like Basic Fun... Makes me wonder if they no longer have access to the facilities needed to make G1/2/3 ponies (considering G4/G5 aren't as hollow-bodied and a different plastic type)?

For those unaware, I put up a poll for users to vote on my next MLP concept and the 'Mountain Boys series 2' option won!
This is my first set of boy ponies! I do have more in mind though haha...
It  took a while to come up with fitting names (and colour palettes...) but  I think I made them work! I wanted to use some more uncommon body  colours, like Wildfire uses Pina Colada's bright red-pink body colour,  Typhoon; Princess Pristina's and Blizzard is meant to be the same as  Dutch Diary Pony <3
I also didn't want them to look too  similar to any of the OG Mountain Boys either, and I kind of had the  idea that you could make an almost-complete rainbow between both sets?
It's also a funny thing, but I drew the background (Misty Mountain) off the top of my head without a reference to what it was actually meant to look  like (I forgot about the comic!). I then wound up reading the comic to  write the blurb section and to my surprise I actually got the colour  correct - it's also purple in the comic!

Merry Marshmallow Ponies are very much inspired by the Candylocks doll series by Spin Master, as well as the Perfume Puff Ponies and the Cotton Candy set in Tonka's Cupcakes doll line...!
Basically, they have Perfume Puff-style hair twisted into sections meant to resemble marshmallow rope! They are also scented <3
Their wintery background was due to the suggestion by Artemesia's Garden that this could be a winter-themed set, which I thought was a great idea! This also found its' way into their backstory <3
I hope you enjoy!

PS - According to the poll I conducted, the next set will be either Bubblegum Beauty Ponies (G1) or Sweets Cafe (Takara), as they both tied for third place! Feel free to voice your preference here also!

Yes I will do any of the designs but some of them like the Bubble Belle and Rock Candy ones are transparent and we got only glittery baits from HQG1C. Also the original ponies had no transpaent ones.

Introducing my most ambitious set to date, the Sweets Cafe Ponies!

I’ve always LOVED the Takara ponies but they only lasted a year and we didn’t get to see what they could have become, which in turn was my inspiration for this set!
This is specifically my take on how Takara would have done the ‘scented pony’ concept!
Each character is based on a different dessert/drink that’s somewhat iconic to 80s Japan (as far as I can tell with my research anyway lol) and of course, being cafe based, I had to create a playset for them too!
It was also pretty interesting trying to learn to emulate the art style, as it’s so different from what I usually draw!

Yes I've seen the babies and they're definitely cute but I much prefer the adults! XD
I assume you would take either a fakie or a legit adult and 3D scan + clean up the scan because they're wayy too valuable to be sent off to be cast from tbh - or at least that's how I'd do it  :lol:

The main difference is the fonts and readability, although the original image also used a 'grain' image (the pixel-ey overlay that makes it look 'aged') by someone else, and I wasn't entirely comfortable potentially profiting from it, so the new image uses the 'noise' filter function on Photoshop (which I didn't have access to when I drew the original)  ^.^

Ok these guys took FOREVER as I wanted them to look even more authentic...!

As such their artwork is a little more 'loose' and expressive, as influenced by the artwork for the first set of TAF ponies in particular.
This is also the most time I've spent on a background thus far, I wanted a sort of 'Lisa Frank' nostalgic circus-ey vibe (I think that's what they call 'kidcore'?) :)

These girls are clear but filled with colourful beads, which you can rattle around, kind of like a jar of gumballs! This is also why their symbols are linework only - that and I took inspiration from the scented 'good job' stamps I'd et on my schoolwork as a child lol.

They are also chiefly inspired by Hasbro's unproduced 'Irresistibles', specifically the Colorburst Collection, which also feature clear bodies filled with colourful beads!
I hope you enjoy, they were an awful lot of fun!
