so who lives in San Diego?

My husband just accepted a job at UCSD so we are going to move there in September.  I have been before, but this is a MASSIVE move for us.  Tell me about it.  Where is good to live?  Where should I not live if I can humanly avoid it?  Where are the good schools?  What beaches are best?  Do you absolutely need a car or can you get round on the trams and buses with no problem?  What other secrets do you have?

I just had a good friend who moved down there yesterday with her husband and kids!  And my husband lived there for a few years when he was a teenager.  Rancho Bernardo has a good school district.  That's about all I know.  And the weather is gorgeous!

And just being a native Californian, you will probably need a car.  Very few cities have good public transportation.  We're a very spread out state.

Wow!!! Big Move!!! How exciting for you all!! I don't know anything about San Diego, but I wish you luck and hope that you and your family can find the perfect spot to settle down!! :hug:
