Some 12 years ago, in an effort to keep my collection on a smaller scale, I decided to focus on one pony - Windy.
I chose Windy as the Nirvana variations have a lot of variety.
This month I finally finished the full collection! Unfortunately the good camera is dead, but I couldn't wait to show them off so I took photos with my cell phone.
From Left to Right:
US Windy, Mythical US White Windy, French Windy, Lilac French Windy, Dark Purple French Windy, Italian Windy, Greek Windy, Peru Windy, South African Windy, Argentina Windy with Light Blue and Yellow Hair, Argentina Windy with Green and White Hair.
US Windy on Card in the back.
Now what do I collect?!

Whoa they look amazing all together like that!! I especially love South African Windy. Huge congratulations! Maybe you can pick another pony from the rainbow set next ;)
-
Oh wow! Amazing army! Peru Windy is so pretty :lovey: Huge congrats!
Maybe a Moonstone army? :P
-
Nicely done! I was going to do a Windy army, but the SA and the two variants of the French Windy (much more expensive than rainbow hair) were huge turn offs though due to cost and difficulty to locate. 12 years in the making, you are a patient person, but it paid off. They all look good next to each other.
PS-I really like your Argentina with the blue and yellow hair.
For your next project, I think Gusty would be pretty cool or maybe Moonstone or Moondancer. Moondancer would be quite expensive though Good Luck!

Oh they are so beautiful!!! How wonderful to see them all together like that!!! Well done!!!

Your collection is incredible!!
They're all so cute! I'm not sure who's my favorite
Congrats!!
-
the 3 French! beautiful set!
-
They are so gorgeous!! I didn't even know some of them existed, congrats on your collection!!
-
As someone who also is tight on space, I completely understand about keeping your collection tight... and WOAH your patience, diligence, and caring for Windy is truly remarkable
Thank you for the inspiration!

Thanks everyone!
I think my husband is mostly just entertained by my pony passion, so I had to share with a group of people who would appreciate them.
I work in international business so I find Hasbro's lack of global consistency interesting. I don't think you would find so much global variation today.
I remembered after the picture that I had the 25th Anniversary Windy, but I think she only half counts since she is new anyway.
jrr74 - I thought about Gusty because I love the alternative version so much. I started a Bluebell army but there was not as much variation so I lost interest.
Applejack could be interesting, but outside of Columbia variation is minimal.
Does Moonstone or Moondance have a lot of variations? I don't mind if some ponies are super rare. I think most of the fun in collecting is finding the ponies. : )
Since I keep my collection limited I only buy a pony once every year, or every few years. So that keeps the cost down.
Raspberry Brulee - I see that you are in New York as well so I am sure you understand the space pain! : )
-
Wow. Amazing!!!! Your missing greek walking pose windy ;)
But other than that you have them all!!!
-
Ember1 - I was waiting for someone to say that!
I saw in in the Ebay auction during Thanksgiving and I had never seen her before. My first response was "Nooooooo". I was so close being done! I bid on her but in the last few minutes she went from a few hundred to $3,000+. I cant keep up when the bidding goes that quickly.
Do you know if she is the only one? If she is, I dont have to count her until she is verified. : )
-
Nice collection! :) I love Windy myself, but I might just hunt down the white Windy. :P
-
This is incredible! They're just so beautiful :lovey:
-
So beautiful! Congratulations on getting them all :)
-
Right now shes ooak but its safe to assume there are more out there. With the Greeks this slways seems to be the case. I hope more come along but yes your collection is very complete just as it is. Congratulations
-
Wow!! What a stunning collection and a huge accomplishment. Congrats!!!!!
-
What a fantastic collection! :lovey: Do you have a favourite of them? Moonstone or Moondancer would be good choices to move on to, though I think both have some expensive ones too. I always wanted all the Tootsies, but once all the Vennie ones popped up, I decided I couldn't keep track! :)
-
I don't think I've seen such a complete collection of Windy before, it's really beautiful TwoMore. You've shown such tenacity and patience to collect them.
I think there are two very sneaky French Windy's missing from your collection  Purple eyed French Windy and the Moonstone-Windy hybrid (Moonstones blue body and magenta eyes with Windy's symbols)

I feel so mean for mentioning them as this really the most complete collection I've seen.

Wow!!! This is amazing!!!! You're making me rethink (or perhaps that I should expand upon) my collecting practices
-
oh such a lovely collection and amazing feat! congrats

Wow, that's amazing! I love the one with dark purple mane! <3

Awesomeness

Such a beautiful collection! The Windy variants are some of my favorite nirvana ponies too.

Beautiful army!! Windy is such a gorgeous pony ^^
-
I just spotted an Argie Windy variant I haven't seen before, she has blue, yellow and red stripes :) I saw a Moonstone with the same colours once too ^.^

I have mixed feelings about these new ponies. On one hand, I am annoyed that a new one pops up the same week that I finally get the last one. But on the other hand, new ponies are what make it fun. Right?
I will defiantly be on the look out for the new walking greek Windy.
The French purple eye, I would buy if she comes up, but the magenta eye is more interesting because the variation is more pronounced. I feel like the French ponies tend to have more of a bluer tone.
Pinkkittywinks, any idea how many magenta eye hybrids have popped up?
For the next group, I am thinking either Bow Tie or Moondancer. I like the variety that these two come in. I count 14 different ones for Moondancer and 31 for Bow Tie.
-
They look so pretty all standing there together like that! The Frenchies are my favorite, but I love Peru Windy's pose :lovey:
-
These are all so gorgeous! I'm not sure which one is my favorite, but the French ones sure are pretty.
Are there a lot of variations in Twilight, Firefly, or Glory?

 it is a blow, especially when you've been chasing a rare pony for a long time and think you have the set  it's part of being a collector
She is a sneaky one! I think she may be more common than you think, as she'll easily slip unnoticed as it's a subtle difference. I have seen a fair few, but I don't think people realise quite what they have.

Awesome! What a very lovely set of Windys. I'm not sure what else you may collect but you were definitely dedicated. I am to collecting all the Surprises. :)
-
Regardless of whether or not there is one or two variations missing I have to agree they look simply wonderful together! What a wonderful, enviable achievement! :)
