There's probably been a topic on this already, but I stopped searching after page 10 lol.Hahaha!!! XD my boyfriend always used to laugh at that name!
The #1 worst name that comes to mind is Tink-a-Tink-a-Too. I mean what is that?? That has ALWAYS bothered me >_<
There's most likely a whole lot worse, but I'll let you help list them!
Scootaloo (reminds me of my dog when he scoots to scratch his bum)
I can't believe no-one's mentioned Pillow Talk! :PThat must be because it's not a bad name :silly: On par with Sticky to me!

Actually, Pillow Talk is quite bad! XD Morning Glory has a double meaning over here too.
Definetely Spunky, Whizzer and Pillow Talk XD Also Baby Flicker truly made me laugh out loud, but that's because it means something different in Dutch.
You know, they did something awhile ago, where there was a test, and it would give you a name and you'd have to decide if it was a Stripper name or a My Little Pony name. . .

What does Flicker mean in Dutch?
Also Jolly Lolly *gigglesnort* AND Tipsy Tulip (who was called Rum Raisin in Dutch) hehe
Scootaloo (reminds me of my dog when he scoots to scratch his bum)
And sort of unrelated, why did they have to name the Baby ponies exactly the same thing as their parents! Its just a little bit narcissistic! Sure, they can look the same (minor differences would be nice though...) but give it a different name! Geez!
Whizzer, Tootie Tails, and the recent G4 phenomena of "add Dazzle at the end."
I'll try not to do repeats!
I like Lolligiggle, actually. Wordplay!
I'm not thrilled with Kimono. Isn't that the equivalent of naming a pony "Shirt?"
Also not a fan of ponies named for real life/"human" places, like Hollywood or Honoluloo. To me, ponies live in a completely foreign fantasy land and have no association with humans!
Also don't like when the creators just name a pony after their symbol instead of something even a little creative, like with poor Cupcake, Waterfire, and...did I read that right? Orange Flower? Wow is that bad. It's not even a blossom from an orange tree...her symbol literally is an orange flower. Uuggghh

Don't knock Waterfire's name. Hasbro is located in Rhode Island and in the summer they (Providence, the capital city of Rhode Island) have an event called Waterfire where they have bonfires in these metal baskets on the river. While it has never been officially stated that the pony's name was inspired by the event it seems a little too convenient.
I've always found the name Morning Glory hysterical. I mean, it survived over multiple generations! Did NO ONE in that board room say 'Erm, do you guys KNOW what that means?!'I had to look up what it means. And now I'm highly amused.
We call our dog Scootaloo when he does that too! :PScootaloo (reminds me of my dog when he scoots to scratch his bum)
:lmao: My mom calls my chihuahua Scootaloo when she scoots

In germany they indeed got a little different names.
For example,
Firefly & Baby Firefly = Feuerfunke & Baby Flammenflitzer (translates to "Firespark" & "Baby Flame Dasher")
Glory & Baby Glory = Sternschnuppe & Baby Schätzchen (translates to Shooting Star & Baby Darling / Honey / Sweetie)
Moondancer & Baby Moondancer = Traumtänzer & Baby Sternentanz (translates to Dreamdancer & Baby Stardance)
Blossom & Baby Blossom = Primelchen & Baby Honigkuchen (Primrose & Baby Honey Cake)
Cotton Candy & Baby Cotton Candy = Kügelchen & Baby Karamell (Pearl / Pellet & Baby Caramell)
I don't know about the worst but weird names are Backstroke and Sand Dollar, at least to me sand dollar is weird. What does it mean?

'Night Cap' also has a bit of a double meaning, poor baby!never thought of it that way
There's actually a pony named sticky?
There's actually a pony named sticky?
Along with her twin Sniffles
Waiting for g4 Skidmarks and Camelsfoot.
Tra-la-la (does any song come to mind?)I really am not sure/I hope we are not thinking of the same song, but now I will have nightmares of the song this name brought to my mind (the one by Gunther)

for me it is Swinger. even worse with the two mentioned above. maybe it's just my mind that is dirty -_-
I would just like to take a moment to point out that the pony 'Silver Rain' is in no way 'silver' or 'rainy'. She's blue and white, and her mark/symbol is a bow. P:
It's not a bad name or anything, but it's always been a bit of a pet peeve since I found out about her (after I'd already picked this username).
Bee Bop is simultaneously the best and worst pony name ever. And her cutie mark doesn't even match either :s I didn't know lyres can do hip hop beats
Its "Marshmallow Coco"...
Some of the G3s had dreadful names w/ deliberate misspellings--the one named something like Marshmellow Creme or whatever comes to mind. I hate the thought of children thinking you actually spell "marshmallow" that way!

This thread's hilarious XD I was never fond of most of G3 names. With the G4 Blind Bag names, half of them make me imagine Hasbro being all like "Quick! Name... name... name... AH THAT'S IT!" So I'll add Flowerwishes and Lemon Hearts.
Also...

I was never a fan of Tink-a-Tink-a-Too (if that's how you spell it.) Never liked Toola Roola's name much either.

"Spunk" was a good descriptor at the time for someone who was full of life and energy, but nowadays some use it as slang for... the male liquid component that brings life into the world.

yeah Banana Fluff and Shoeshine are pretty bad. (This thread makes we manna post the same question in the Transformers forum.)
okay, i don´t get sticky and sniffles but i am too afraid to look it up. ;)
i mean sticky, is like a sticky note, right? ans sniffles likes to smell flowers, right? XD

Lickety-Split? Not the worst pony name in the world, but it always makes me smile!
I was looking at a pony ID site @ the Big Brother ponies and they have one named First Base - I hope he had a baseball symbol - really what were they thinking?
(This thread makes we manna post the same question in the Transformers forum.)
I'm fairly sure poor Erector is going to win that one.

Be happy they couldn't use the name "Colgate". XD
Well to be fair, it was never mandatory that the pony's name had to match their cutie mark/symbol. Many of them do, but many others don't.
I also don't like Pinkie Pie, because it always used to bother me (and it still does) what balloons have to do with the word Pinkie Pie? Maybe Party Pie would have made more sense?
I didn't have the energy to go trough all the pages, but I do have to mention Talk-A-Lot, since she hadn't had any calls by the end of page 4. :PTalk-A-Lot...hmm *imagines on FiM show*

I hope to take first prize' so I figured I give her some tips, right? well turns out she thinks I gave her a little too much information and I'm like 'what do you mean' and she's all 'I think you're trying to help me too much...you just talk...too much' and I'm like 'excuse me?!' I mean come on of course you would be mad if somepony told you that- hey where you going?! you're just gonna walk away like Lily did, aren't you? well you could have given an excuse like- oh fine be that way...reminds me of the time Minuette was blablablahblah..."
Off-Topic, but on the subject; am I really the only one that thought that "Magic Dual" was going to end with Pinkie getting her mouth back, and then going on, and on, and on about how bad it was for her not being able to talk... so Twilight makes her mouth dissapear again (it was Trixie the first time)? There's already a Talk-A-Lot on MLP:FiM...her name's 'Pinkie Pie' :PI didn't have the energy to go trough all the pages, but I do have to mention Talk-A-Lot, since she hadn't had any calls by the end of page 4. :PTalk-A-Lot...hmm *imagines on FiM show*

"Minuette" suits her mark much better, anyways. Don't know if a toothpaste/dentist pony would have received an hourglass cutiemark... lol. And I say that as someone who actually likes the fanon name for her.

Was I the only kid who got those little hourglasses from the dentist to measure how long to brush my teeth?
A bit of a tentative connection, but it just popped into my head. Had to say something :P
In general I hate all the fanon names that have "Hooves" as the latter part of the name. So boring. And of course :muffin:. Not because I think it's offensive but because it's just internet slang. It's like calling a pony "Lulzy" and another one "X.D. Trollolo".

In official G4 comics (Pinkie Pie Micro-Series issue) there was actually a pony named Trollo Lollo.
"Princess Erroria": I know it's only the brony fan name, but I still don't like it. Most of the fan names have some level of thought put into them but this doesn't for me.Never heard of her :P what does she look like?
She's the G4 who appeared as an alicorn once due to a drawing error. She had a better name forher qt first, but she became Princess Erroria. Seriously she's named after an error?
This was done on a phine, I'pl get the typos later. Silorry
Toola Roola (because it's very awkward to pronounce)My only problem with Toola Roola is that every time I hear her name, I get "Come On Eileen" stuck in my head. Or maybe that isn't a problem.

Whizzer, Fizzy, Floater, Squeezer, Snookums, Hippity Hop. Sticky is a bit like Shady: too funny to be actually bad, but her poor twin Sniffles has a horrible name as do Big Top and Toppy, Jabber and Jebber, Bootsie and Tootsie. Little Tabby and Little Whiskers... I don't do cats. Anything with Sparkle. Most Big Brother names. Twinkle Dancer is a little stupid, Pretty Belle and Flowerbelle quite unimaginative. Scootaloo and Cheerilee are absolutely awful.
One G2 name that I never understood is Glittery Study. :|
Oh man, I always thought Tink a Tink a Too was Tink a Too Too (never paid attention to g3 much, just skim anything I read about it usually) and I thought that was cute. haha, the real name is pretty weird! A little cute but more weird.Snuzzle is the best name ever as it sounds like Snuggle mixed with Nuzzle.
I don't like Snuzzle, Tootsie, Backstroke, Angel, 4-speed, Woosie, Molasses, or Cranberry Muffins. There are probably more..

I agree, it sounds so cute! Huggy cuddly pony. ^^
As for me, I am bothered by the title Winger Ponies. Why not Winged Ponies? Winger reminds me of someone I know of with that last name who is kind of gross, so I just think of that weird gross guy whenever I see that type of pony. Of course that's just me but still, Winger doesn't make sense.
Morning Glory was one of my favourite G2 ponies as a child and I can't talk about her to my boyfriend without him bursting into fits and giggles and me going IT'S A FLOWER OKAY exasperatedly. I still think she's a beautiful pony and I love her name I just wish it didn't have the double meaning! :yikes:

As a kid though for whatever reason I could never remember 4Speed's name so he always was called something different from 4 by 4, to Trucker, to the oh so imaginative Bob.
Lol this thread. :lmao:
I like G2's names, but i find Tipsy Tulip quite funny.
Also, They named some G2s in finnish using ''imagination'':
Lady Light Heart is in lady Happypill.
Baby Giggles and Wiggles became Jump and Horse.
Hip Holly is Trendy.
Princess Trixiebelle is princess Joker.
baby Flitter is just Flutter or Flap.
Sadly i dont have anymore pamphlets or backcards, that would have the finnish name on them. :----D

On the subject of G2, the "Fantastic Jobs" ponies were overly slimplistic with the names; "Miss Painter", "Miss Teacher", and "Miss Chef". Okay, I admit it, when it comes to my writing it's usually the names I have the most difficulty coming up with, but come on Hasbro, do try and put a tiny bit of effort into it.

Quackers is not a very flattering name, indeed.
- Foamy (rabies pony!)
Oh dear, this topic comes up often between me and my partner! :lmao:
'Toilet humour' names make me giggle :P
- Steamer
- Floater (ugh)
- Whizzer
- Windy
- Tootie Tails
- Seawinkle (eww)
- Trickles (down your leg? yuck)
- Puddles
Names with adult double-meanings:
- Streaky
- Morning Glory (I'm a florist, and as much as I know this is a flower I just can't help a snigger when I hear it!)
- Pillow Talk
- First Base (US Slugger)
- Doodles and Noodles
- Swinger
- Player
Other names that irk me:
- Nightcap
- Jabber and Jebber (What IS a Jebber?? Why does one want to jab me?)
- Sticky and Sniffles (oh yeah, snot ponies, fantastic)
- Banana Surprise (SURPRISE! It's a banana! *nudge nudge, wink wink*)
- Shovels (this pony sounds like she has a career in the grave digging business to me)
- Fifi (why not name one Rufus? What about Fido? No?)
- Sweet Stuff (is 'stuff' the best they could do? Really?)
- Up, Up and Away (Really? This name is just annoying, it's more a sentence than a name)
- Pink Dreams (What?)
- Munchy (what disturbs me most is she has hot dogs and other meat products as her cutie mark, she also reminds me of people who get 'the munchies' after some recreational substance use)
- Tossles (just toss her away! Not really, I think she is lovely, but her name makes me think she should be tossed :/)
- Woosie (I know it's supposed to be that she is a fraidy cat, but I can't help but pronounce it as though she is a tad tipsy)
- Baby Graffiti (makes me think this one is a spray painting pony)
- Baby Ribbs (mmm tasty, tasty pony)
- Foamy (rabies pony!)
- Songster (just, what?)
- Dangles (what, exactly, is dangling?)
- Frilly Flower (not sure, but this one just sounds odd)
- Fancy Flower (again, sounds odd)
- Pina Colada (mmm, yum!)
- Happyglow (lame)
There are probably others, but I think that's enough text! :lmao:
These ponies are all lovely, I would love to own them all one day, but some of their names, deary me! Yep, I'm a bit picky and I do have a bit of a gutter mind, but some of these names, my mind just links one thing to another! Bad mind, bad! lol
LOL. I think "jabber" is sometimes slang for yakking away, so I imagine Jabber is a chatterbox. :)
And Trickles ... ewww, yes.
Swinger and Player definitely make me raise eyebrows. I wonder how they got away with those.
:yikes:I also thought she was white, but she is listed under green at the reference site Strawberryreef
Jolly is a pretty pony, white and blonde and delicate and I just didn't think it fit her XD
I always figured Swinger was a reference to swing music/dance. But I cannot wrap my head around Player... oh well, it was the 80s. This happened before I was born so I have no idea what the slang of the time was, but that does seem odd nowadays... :PPlayer is called Player because she plays her guitar, I think.

I'm not a huge fan of "Sweetie Drops" either. It's not just because I liked Bon Bon better, it just doesn't sound right to me for some reason. I get that it's meant to sound like a kind of candy, but I just feel they could have done something else.
I don't hate them but I think some name.. elements are overused to a point I cringe a bit when I see them.I misread that and thought you were saying that there was a pony called Sparkle Dazzle Shimmer. I really hope that Hasbro doesn't get THAT bright idea any time soon.
For example "Wishes", "Strawberry" or "Sweet". Also Sparkle/Dazzle/Shimmer to some extend.
