Pony Corral / Re: Price Check Archive?

Thanks! I wasn't sure if it had moved and I just wasn't seeing it or what. I'll start putting together a list of ones I'll need  a PC on. I always prefer getting pricing info from other pony people anyway! :)

Pony Corral / Price Check Archive?

It’s been a long time since I was active here, but I seem to remember there used to be a price check archive you could search. Is that still a thing? I’m pricing my g3s and g4s and I’ve been using eBay completed listings, but some of them aren’t coming up. If you have any other resources to recommend for pricing them I’d love to know!

I’d be interested too! I love talking ponies!

Introductions / Reunited and it feels so good!

Hello (again) pony people! I've been away from the Arena for a few years now--life got in the way as it so often does. My job got stressful, I got a masters degree, and ponies just weren't a priority anymore. I was never a super active poster before I fell out of ponies, but I used to check this site just about every hour all through college and my twenties, which I think qualifies to me to be considered a hardcore lurker haha! The big shift to Facebook was really the end for me as I'm not active there.

BUT the other day I was just sitting around, minding my own business, and all of a sudden I was hit by a realization: I missed ponies! They made me so happy, and this is such a wonderful community, and I wanted that warm fuzzy feeling back in my life. So here I am!

I've been collecting for...my whole life? My primary focus has always been g1, but I have a little of everything. I'm getting ready to part with my g3 and g4 stuff and clear some space out so I can focus my attention fully on the stuff I really love.

Pony Corral / Is there a point where you just say “trash it”?
« on: June 19, 2020, 06:43:13 PM »
Possibly a controversial opinion, but have you ever just given up on a pony or play set and said “it’s too far gone to save, might as well just throw it in the trash”? How do you define unsalvagable? I have some play sets and accessories (nothing rare) that I can’t imagine anyone doing anything to save, but it seems so wrong to throw a vintage pony thing away!

Pony Corral / Re: Pony Mistakes

Mine is playlet related and I just discovered it the other day! I had two Dream Castles--one from my childhood and a random one I picked up along the way. A family friend asked if she could buy one for her daughter who was very into ponies at the time, so I grabbed the first one I found in the basement and gave it to her. It was nice bright pink and everything worked perfectly. I just dug the second one out of storage and it is rough! Faded, broken, basically a bait playset. I'm torn because I know for a fact that playset saw a TON of play time and has been very well loved, but I'm still bummed I'll have to upgrade my collection Dream Castle now. Ah well--at least I can still visit the nice one every now and then!

Yellowed glue is a tough one! I’ve never personally tried to tackle it but hopefully someone has a solution for you!

It may depend on the reason she’s yellow. Her chartreuse hair can bleed onto the flocking and stain it. It is patchy or even? It could also be the glue that holds the flocking on is what’s yellowed. I know I’ve personally had luck with whitening toothpaste and cold water but that was for a chocolate stain on a Scrumptious.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who's encountered this at least! I knew pony people would understand my pain haha. I think they may be destined for the arts and crafts bin unfortunately:(. I'll keep hunting for a complete one in the meantime!

Pony Corral / Puzzle Pandemonium!
« on: March 29, 2019, 02:28:39 PM »
I thought I was a genius you guys. A pony savant. But Hasbro betrayed me! I found one 80s puzzle years ago that wasn't complete, so I held onto it. My patience paid off and I eventually found the same puzzle again, also not complete. Fantastic! Now I can combine them into one complete puzzle. FALSE! The pieces aren't cut into the same shapes!!! The puzzles don't match!!!   :enraged:

I am, quite frankly, miffed. But I figured I'd pass it along in case anyone else has the same doomed plan.  :nope:

Pony Corral / Re: SS Pony Stained by her Hair
« on: September 15, 2016, 03:22:06 PM »
Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm bummed nothing will likely fix it but it's not the end of the world. Luckily I think I can style her hair in order to hide most of it. Maybe I'll try a vinegar rinse so it won't get worse/affect any pony she ends up near. She'll fit right in with my other slightly wonky ponies haha!

Pony Corral / SS Pony Stained by her Hair
« on: September 14, 2016, 05:07:37 PM »
So I just received a SS Ribbon I bought on eBay and when I opened the package I noticed her face has been stained by the chartreuse in her hair!

Her flocking is PERECT otherwise so I'm reluctant to mess with it, but does anyone know a good way to remove it? Or how stubborn a stain it might be?

Pony Corral / Re: The one that got away

This happened a few years ago but it still haunts me. I used to shop pretty regularly at a goodwill outlet (one of those ones with the rotating bins and everything is priced by the pound). One day I stopped in and in the first bin I found TWO Dream Beauties and a handful of later ponies. I was elated!... Until some of the other regulars who knew I collected ponies told me I had missed out on a giant box full of ponies! The ones I had found were the ones that had fallen out when the box was grabbed. I'm happy with my "consolation prize" ponies, but I can't help wondering what I missed out on!

Price Check Archives / Re: PC and Question About Playset Boxes
« on: January 16, 2016, 05:58:24 PM »
I'm just looking for the US boxes for now. Although I may go international in the future depending on how much space I end up with for my collection...dangerous thinking haha!

It seems like such a hard thing to price since in the end it's just an empty box. There's one I need on ebay right now for $20 and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it. Up until now I haven't really branched out into things that weren't an actual pony so I'm a bit out of my depth!
