The Dollhouse / Mint Tulip Berrykin MIB, never opened.

So I stumbled across this lovely, and decided to offer her here first at an Arena-Only up for offers until Friday August 31st. The last one in this condition that sold on eBay was opened, and sold for $699 in March, this one has not been opened. Unlike the most recently sold in box item ($286), this one is in good display condition and the Berrykin is not damaged. Also no price stickers to be seen anywhere. So please keep that in mind when considering offers.

The dolls themselves are in amazing condition. The box has some shelf wear and a little dent on the back.  Some yellowing to the plastic encasing them all, and some denting to the bubble. Basically, she's in the condition that she would have been after a few months on the shelf in the store. The comb is loose somehow, but I'm not sure if it just is meant to be that way because I can't figure out where it would have been secured.

She's very secure in box so she will display well (and ship well).

I am putting her on eBay on September 1st if nobody here bites.

I will consider payment plans, but only until September 7th (meaning all money in hand by September 7th).

Here's an entire gallery of images detailing any and all items of concern: https://imgur.com/a/rOrgo1S

Edit: Will think about partial trades for a variety of Nirvana ponies.

Ok so a little about these figures.  Mine have been missing since shortly after Bronycon 2012 (the one in Secaucus) where I purchased them.  I just now found them inside the lining of a bag I am finally getting rid of, so they are really screwed up looking.

They are molded hard plastic (maybe?), with a hole in the bottom so that they could be used on the pony saddles and carts from the first wave of brushables.

They are hand painted acrylic, kinda delicately at that, with not a lot of detail. And now Owlowiscious is covered in fuzz and guk I can't get rid of. :(

Pony Corral / What Ponywear do you like on which ponies?
« on: August 21, 2018, 07:48:21 PM »
Are you a "backcard purist"? Do you like to match the stickers? Do you optimize the pony designs?

How do you choose which ponies wear which Ponywear, if you display Ponywear on ponies?

I'm going to do a little experiment and I need a test case, re: the fading pink hair.

So I am looking for a Fancy Flower SHS with a very faded, or even bleached white mane...and a bright pink tail.  She also must have her earring. Bonus if she has her bow as well, but it's very important that part of her hair is faded and the rest of it is not.

This one has a little story to it.

I had just turned 6, and this was in 1984, so Twice as Fancy ponies were absolutely not on the market yet.

I had all of 4 ponies, and Twilight had been the first one I'd gotten (and they were almost all pink, my least favorite color).  But you know what else I had recently learned?  How to draw 5 pointed stars.  And I felt like Twilight needed to be a little...cooler.  So I expanded her symbol with a ballpoint pen and tried to color her purple streak blue with a marker.

Predictably this looked like hot garbage within a few months and Twilight was mysteriously whisked away by some adult who thought that the second a toy doesn't look new it's unloved, never to be seen again.

So I decided I wanted to make the custom of my vision.  I did leave off some things I had done originally, like the stars down her front leg because I wasn't even happy with them at the time.  And I only did one side TAF, and just redrew the symbol in blue on the other side.

The stars are a little wonky because, as true to the custom, I literally just drew a bunch of 5-pointed stars using the method where you basically just draw 5 crossing lines and end up with a star with a pentagon in the middle, painted them, and then applied glue and glitter which is now all over my house.  Whee.

You can also imagine how disappointed I was that Milky Way was not TAF Twilight (I also, in predictable kid fashion, thought they stole my idea and robbed me of millions).

I'm not sure if I am 100% happy with her...but I am also not sure I have a steady enough hand to get really precise with the glue.  Paint, sure, glue that has to hold micro glitter, this might be the best I'm gonna get.

I also decided to make another custom that I had in mind when I was kinda young.  The second I saw a Moon Shadow on shelves I loved her...sort of. I never found one that wasn't discolored and it bothered me.  But not as much as the fact that she was never a g1 pony.  Her streak is that fading pink, so she's kind of a hybrid of the releases.  I may redo her symbol in metallic paint, I'm not loving the glitter.

Oh and I also dyed this Bow Tie too dark, so she's gonna get as close to Nightlight as I can get without removing freckles (and being too dark).

Everyone complains about the lack of naming sense of G4 ponies...but... can we talk about the obvious name mixup somewhere that happened with the Glittery Sweetheart Sisters ponies?

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Literally any of the other 3 names would have suited Sunblossom better than "Sunblossom". And naming a pony with hearts on it "Starflash" is pretty nonsense, when the one with stars in the grouping already has a name that doesn't make a lick of sense.  Not Pursey Pink level, of course, because we all know that's the new bar for nonsense.

Bright Night is the only one that makes any sense if you reach extremely hard and just assume they were talking about the 1989 prom in any given high school. Which was rather filled with sequins or bows.

So what do you think?  Do you think someone mixed up the names somewhere and they just didn't care? Or do you think there was some actual logical reason the names are the way they are?  Or did they just use a dart board?

Hey restorers and customizers!

I have to restore some half-bald Butterscotches, poor things.

I can tell you what colors they're not (all colors are from Dollyhair) but I don't want to just keep ordering shots in the dark and my monitors seem to be nearly entirely inaccurate for the actual colors.

Mexican Butterscotch:

  • Nylon Golden Goddess (kinda knew this going in that there was no way it was a match, it was more of a "maybe I'll just rehair a regular one)
  • Nylon Golden Sun
  • Polypropylene Alluring.

Has anyone found a good match?

I'm a touch afraid that it might be Goldenrod or Butter Pecan. Or a blend (I am not having luck with the blends being really consistent, too chunky these days).

Mermaid's close, and I suspect mine is just faded.

Would someone be so kind as to post a picture of Snowflake and Hollywood in the same photo so I can compare their colors?  Preferably daylight if you would. Are they the same color? Monitors and lighting and gamma and all.

I had a Snowflake maybe 18 years ago, and I got rid of her because I disliked her color combination a lot, and I didn't get Hollywood for this reason until extremely recently, assuming they were the same color. I'm super into Hollywood, she's great!

Maybe my brain or tastes changed? Maybe they're not the same color?  Maybe my Snowflake was discolored and weird?

I did also recently buy BerryMouse's Spanish Snowflake, and while she is definitely discolored, I'm into her too.  So I'm puzzled by a years-ago visceral reaction.

I'm putting this in off-topic doe to its wildly speculative nature.

So, we know we have Apple Jack, who is either named after the cereal...or hopefully the liquor because that's funnier.  So naming ponies after products is nothing too unusual for the early days of MLP.

But then we have Minty.  Who has clovers on her butt.  Ok.  She's mint green.  So Minty I guess.

But I posit there's another reason.

What is, yes, minty.  Pale green, and associated with clovers that are sometimes called shamrocks and were definitely around in 1981-1982?

Shamrock Shakes.

I think Minty is named after Shamrock Shakes.  And I find that delightful.

Customs / Glow, a G1 flutter custom
« on: March 02, 2018, 03:01:13 PM »

Glow was an extremely matted Tropical Breeze, rerooted in Dollyhair's Lapis Sapphire, Electric Banana, and a bunch of other things (I think there's some Forget me not and some Sea Nymph in there, just a plug or two, to create more of a gradient between the dark blue and the neon color).  Replacement wings from StarLight Studio.

She was inspired by a weird combination of things, these two fakies I used to have (one was the "flutter" style mold, the other had similarly colored hair, you know the weird fancy pants fakies with the smaller eyes) and a modified version of Nightlight's symbol. Symbols are just cut-out vinyl.  Because it seemed easier than trying to paint opaque white on a medium blue pony.  You can barely even tell.

So from a mess to the crown jewel of my flutter collection...once I get her hair more properly sorted out, in just a few days.

Did I miss something in the last few years of collecting?  Did all the Moon Dreamers collectors just form a tight knit community and leave eBay behind?  Why are the ones on eBay these past few months just really ratty?  And why, between all the auctions I have looked at since Christmas, were there like...5 shoes among all of them?

Wanted! / Ye Old Want List
« on: February 21, 2018, 12:00:27 PM »
    G1 - wingers and flutters
    • Summerwing Glow - hair has to be pink, very pink - alternately a pony in really good condition but nobody will remind me rehairing her because her hair is awful
    • Windy Wing Flurry - hair has to be completely faded - alternately a pony in really good condition but nobody will remind me rehairing her because her hair is awful
    • Rosedust

      G1 - boys
      • Tex
      • Baby Leaper
      • Salty
      • Clipper
      • Baby Ribbs
      • Mountain Boy Thundercloud
      • Daddy Apple Delight
      • Baby Apple Delight
      • Baby Countdown

        G1 others
        • Birthflower December Holly, prefer her as nice as possible.  - alternately a pony in really good condition but nobody will remind me rehairing her because her hair is awful
        • Merry Treats

          G3
          • Abra-Ca-Dabra

          Fakies
Looking for those "flutter" style fakies from 10 years ago.  Especially the orange one with darker orange hair. Less interested in the ones that look like they're wearing "fancy pants".

          Non Pony toys

          • Keypers Sheldon.  Has to be as complete as possible though (although I can forgo the keyfinder, the key and the hat 100% have to be there), and the shell can't be yellowed.
          • Kenner Tropigals See Wees, Oceanna, Baby Seabrina, Seasar Cat
          • Liddle Kiddle Luscious Lime Kola, with bottle
          • Cragston Socket to me green haired Kiddle Clone with lightbulb pin
          • Mattel Guardian Goddess outfits: Ice Empress, Blazing Fire, Soaring Eagle
          • She-Ra/Princess of Power Flutterina
          • Moon Dreamers Whimzee, Bitsy + Roary, Blinky (Don't need Ursa)  Have to be complete.

          Baits
I'm looking for a few bait ponies to make some specific customs with, mostly copies of nirvanas or birthflower alternates that I can't afford for my own collection.  I'd prefer the bodies to be in pretty good shape with as few marks as possible.  I do not need the hair at all so it can be gone, or just a straight disaster. Willing to pay higher than the average bait price for the right ponies.

So if you have any of the following ponies up for grabs, in a less than desirable collectable condition, let me know!

          • Lemon Drop with as faded as possible symbols. Faded to white, not faded as in gone.
          • Sweetberry Strawberry Surprise as faded towards the orange spectrum as possible.  There was a fakie pony released in this pose that was almost Skyflier's color which would be acceptable here as well
            • Peek-a-boo Sweet Stuff as faded towards the orange spectrum as possible.

            Less specific:
            • Baby Apple Delight - just need the body here.
            • Birthflower Cosmos - Symbols have to be nice (you can probably see where this is going, alternate birthflower!)
            • Birthflower Morning Glory - Symbols have to be nice
            • Birthflower Poppy - Symbols have to be nice
            • Windy - Rainbow, with nice body and symbols.  Hair can be trash
            • Moonstone - Rainbow, with nice body and symbols.  Hair can be trash

So this is my first time on this forum in years   I'd sold off most of my collection at some point (although I do have a few Shelti classics around, still with their flowers in their hair)! So anyway I am a fool and after two hours of searching I realized I accidentally sold my peach Sweet Clover at some point in the last 6 years when I didn't mean to, and when I found my Tiny Bubbles she was looking worse for wear.

So I am looking for both.  I'd like them to be in pretty good condition, no major flaws or huge spots (although I don't care about bottom of the hoof issues).  Sweet Clover's hair should be...well, you should be able to at least tell it was once pink, and she has to be the lighter peach version.

I'm also looking for a Blossom tail...or comparably colored pony's tail.  Or just a really crappy Blossom that happens to have a nice tail I can hijack.

          Thanks!
