What do you use..
« on: January 30, 2012, 08:07:44 AM »
I am looking to airbrush a few ponies and was curious to see what other customizers use for paint, I want it to have a flat/matte look and no shine, what brands do you use? And what kind of sealer do you use for the body paint and the sybol that is also a flat/matte appearance?
I was also curious about using epoxy but can't seem to find it, what brand(s) should I be looking for? Where can you find it in stores? (if I need to I will just order it online) And about how much should I get that would last for awhile?
I think thats it for now haha sorry that's a lot of questions. Thanks!!

For airbrushing I use createx paints that are made for use in an airbrush. If I am hand painting I usually use apple barrel or one of those cheaper brands you can find in nearly any craft store or walmart.  For sealing I only use Testor's Dullcote, it gives it a nice matte appearance and doesn't dry sticky or have I had any of mine yellow.  As for the epoxy, I use Apoxie Sculpt from Aves Studio, I have yet to find it in any stores and as far as I know you can get it at the Aves website or there are some on ebay.  Usually the 1lb container lasts me well over a year, but I don't do a ton of sculpting.

Hope that answers some of your questions!

I totally agree with Alexia, we use the same things XD  I use Createx for all of my painting now though, totally love that stuff!

most of the time i use Createx, however i have used standard acrylic, just thinned down to run thru the airbrush -- works fine ^_^

testors dullcote is an awesome matte sealant (found with the model car supplies)
