It figures this thread would drag me back to the Arena. My ID for the iPhone is LadyBeeLion, and my ID for my iPad (which is mostly played by my daughter) is PrincessApple2003. We will be more than happy to accept requests thrown our way.

Ooooh, did somebody say Press Kit?

I just finished a last minute mega shopping trip for the gift bags. Let's just say the cities of Wilson and Greenville in NC are completely cleaned out of certain items.

Does anyone have any allergies? Like to hazelnuts or anything? I was thinking about making some tea-infused cookies...

To my knowledge I'm not allergic to anything...wait...there is one thing!

FAKIES!...the only thing I'm allergic to is fakies!!

No really I love them. I will love them so much Saturday I will send them on a one way trip with a baseball bat.

I was laughing so hard that I cried.

Those tea cookies sound good, Jadis.

A friend of mine used to make such things with the Ponyvilles and Mc Donald's ponies, which were made of virtually the same plastic. The answer is even simpler than fooling around with heating things: eye screws. You can find them in a hardware store in a variety of sizes along with the regular screws. They'll just take a tiny bit of elbow grease and screw them in. The screw stays in place well enough that glue isn't 100% necessary (unles you over twist or remove the screw repeatedly.)

I'm pretty sure you're incorrect about the Dad thing, at least as far as dads in the US go. Also, in many cases, it's difficult to post the words "so-and-so must be a brony" and not have people discuss it.

I saw the same show you did. I didn't see it the same way. In fact, everyone will probably see it a bit differently. It is human nature. The Arena exists for people to discuss topics. I read all the responses, everyone has been pretty tame.

I suspect I may be the only person left who doesn't automatically think anyone who's familiar with FiM must be a brony.

I don't assume that either (besides, you know what they say when one assumes.)

My husband and I watch the kids' shows with them, so he definitely knows the characters from FiM. His favorites? The FlimFlam Brothers and DirtyRich. Does this make him or my 12 year old son (who also watches the show) a brony? No. They are not into and don't want to really be a part of that fandom. Just like anyone who enjoys or watches or considers themselves a fan of FiM is not necessarily a brony. That requires an entirely different level of interest altogether.

Does that mean I find being a brony a negative thing? Nope. My son put it this way, he's been around my pony obsession forever, so he sees himself as being part of it before everyone else with (radio edit) thought it was cool, so he just doesn't get the new found rabid interest by other males.

In other words, he has always thought liking ponies was perfectly normal.

Since I know it will be nuts on Saturday and I'll have pony hunting and prize winning on my mind, I just want to take a moment to Thank Princessmaker and KarentheUnicorn in advance for organizing this event, its the highlight of the end of my summer and I know its going to be awesome! Kudos to you both!

We really appreciate that Hefty; you're wecome! We'd like to send a giant THANK YOU!!! to all of you who have supported us all these years! Even when we were having major issues, we wanted to keep the meet going for the pony collectors and fans in VA (and the Carolinas.) This would have been impossible without everyone's dedication and helping out in every way we needed.

Also, Karen and I would like to thank maycrestmom for the huge heaps of help she has given us this year! *big pony hugs!*

...and Karen, THANK YOU for putting up with my bossy britches for so long. I couldn't ask for a better co-organizer/perpetual travel buddy.

Ok, I've got to stop now before I get all weepy. Things to buy for the meet (still). So many things left to do...

I saw that not too long ago and never thought to post about it since I figured people at the arena would be all over it already. That clip is too funny. I don't like bourdain much, so I rarely catch his show.

I was shocked more by him mentioning RD than him eating horse...of course.
(so very sorry for the rhyme! I couldn't help myself! :) )

lol that's exactly where I am! I can see Tennessee from where I'm sitting in VA now. Nothing in VA is ever close to me, haha

Actually, there are some pony people in that area and the western part of the the state. We were in contact a couple years ago, but can't remember her name, and she missed out on our meets too because of the distance. If i can think of her screen name I can pm her for you?

There used to be some people from eastern TN hanging around too. I wonder where they all went?

Say hi to everyone for me! Have you not seen the videos? (They're not childsafe. )

Will do!

I haven't seen them. Will I be traumatized? Also, I have the déjà vu-y feeling that we've discussed them before.

awww... I wish I could go to this! I'm in Virginia, but nowhere close to this meet!

We do not always have the meet in the same region of Virginia. Previously we've held it in the Charlottesville area, Hampton Roads, and Emporia. Ideally we'd have it in Richmond, which is pretty much central to everyone, but so far this hasn't happened for a variety of reasons. We haven't made any decisions as to where we are having the meet next year, but there is always the chance that it could be closer to you. Unless you live waaaaaay out in the corner of the commonwealth in Bristol.

It's all good, Phyllie Bean. A little bit of pony fun is better than no pony fun at all, right? My kids start back next week, so this is the last hurrah before they go next Tuesday.

I so wish I could come to this.  I miss all of my VA/ NC people!

We miss you too! (and holy crap your new av frightens me. No pony should ever make that face! That RD is going to haunt my dreams...)

We've got you down on our list, Elisto, and will do our best to get you a table space. The Lodge lady we are dealing with is so non specific about everything, so we could end up with only the 20 we asked for or all the tables that fit in half the space (which is a lot) and so have extra. We will know for sure Friday evening.

Phew! The pace is getting crazy hectic around here.

Just a quick word to let everyone know:
The official RSVP cutoff is tomorrow afternoon. This means that if you are planning on seeing us on Saturday, and have not emailed us by 4pm tomorrow, AND we have not emailed you a confirmation of any sort, you will not receive a goody bag. You are still more than welcome to come and celebrate with us.

Also, we have heard from most of you who need tables and so have those reserved for you. If you have not asked us for one and think you may need one, PLEASE be aware that we may have access to more, but that may not be the case. We won't know for sure until we have access to the Elk's Lodge on Friday. Please have a back up plan.

I'm totally wondering if I'll have time to make chimicheryychangas for the meet.
Not that we'll need more food...

Less than two weeks to go!

I've finally got an idea for a custom to show off (no prizes for me ;) ) the question is whether or not I actually get it finished.

We are getting last minute items taken care of, and food, activities, and prizes have been figured out.

Now for the bad news. No Jones Sodas at the meet this year. We will award them with prizes and mail them out as we have done before, as soon as we do get them in.

Back to the good stuff. We will be having something to raffle off at the meet, so be prepared! We try to get something people are going to want and what they may not have, even if it's not the Pony Everybrony Wanted.

Also, as promised last year, the trivia game has been re-worked and will be much shorter! Less exam-y, more fun.

Whew. Long trip.

I can't wait to show everyone at the meet the goodies I pick up at this year's fair...less than two weeks away!

I'm still trying to come up with ideas for indoor type activities in addition to our traditional wack-a-fakie (this year, there will be water hazards. No hitting the ducks!)

Quick bump from my temporary home in California!

I'm so excited about meet time coming up soon, especially since I'm frightfully busy with other things this summer; I'll need the break. I absolutely love the theme for the custom contest since I'm out here studying gemology. Blinged out ponies? Heck yes!

Also this year we will be heading to King's Dominion on the Sunday after the meet, so about a month out we'll be asking who's coming to that as well to see if we might have enough for a group discount.
