Metal clamp help?

How the heck do you get the metal clamps off G1 tails? Firefly has some crazy bad tail rust. :I

I have peeled them apart with a tiny pair of needle nose pliers.

I have peeled them back with needle nose pliers as well, but this took way too much effort for me to care about. I just clean off the rust around it as best as I can, throw away the washer, and then put the tail back in. I always keep the head loose so I can inspect for problems and fix them before they get really bad, and I always try to keep a close eye on the ones with metal still attached.

Yep, two pairs of needle-nosed pliers will get the clamp off quickly and easily.  Unless the tail is really rusty, it usually doesn't harm the tail either.
