Ever had this happen? while digging in your pony bin?
« on: August 02, 2012, 07:48:13 AM »
so to celebrate my bday the other day, I decided to display all my unicorns, so I began digging in my pony bin... and found... gnarly-haired bedraggled ponies!!! oh noes!!! looks like I'm gonna have to sandwich bag them now... instead of just tossin into the pony-bin.  :|

Um yeah... many my loose G3s are that way. I just don't have time to sit down and give them the spa treatment.

It would be cool if you found a super-rare pony in there!

lol@ bedraggled

I have a good chunk of mine on a "magnetic board" (read:oil pan) that I plan to mount on my wall. I'll probably get another & organize them better. They could use a spa day too.

Right now my g3's are on the wall on a long plastic chain, it's one for hanging stuffed animals, but has enough metal on the clips that they can hang out... I can only imagine what their hair will look like when I take them down... oy...

I'd suggest taking those small snag free clear elastic hair rubber bands to hold their tail in place (only will hold some of their manes in placce), that's what I do with my gals.

Hum, I thought that putting them in bags for a long period of time was bad...

Like it's a great way to breed mold or something. Maybe I'm wrong but I've been following this rule due to something I read about mold and ponies not having air.

Yeah, wrapping them in (acid free) tissue paper may be a better solution for long term storage...

I bag my ponies before I bin them. You can buy large lots of silica gel packets on ebay to toss into every bag. I've done this for over 10 years now and haven't had any issues.

Yes that's a better idea - or close the bags and use a paper punch to punch holes in the bag - plastic needs to "breathe" but shouldn't be allowed to "sweat" so fresh air is a good plan :P And as MsTwilight says depending on how you are storing them silica gel packs are a good idea too.

And I too have discovered that left alone for too long and if the pony is not in an upright position, then hair can become wild!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I know how you feel. When I moved, I put all my ponies together in boxes.. and well.. they all kind of got tangled together! It was.. depressing

Washing their hair got it better though. Some of them had deformed legs though, particularly G3's..
