MLP Nirvana / Re: UK Princess Amethyst / Sparkle Variant?
« on: November 28, 2022, 09:59:31 AM »
honestly I am so old fashioned - still bummed so many sales have moved to FB that I cannot keep up since I don't FB much.  but yeah it's like we are a small community ya would think it wouldn't involve preying off an unsuspecting seller to get what you want to collect

at any rate - thanks a million PKW for providing pics and updating the nirvana wix site that really continues to be an invaluable resource :-)

and yes please babydoll please if you are able to at least snag pictures can keep at least the history / record digitally of variants that pop up in the wild

man thank goodness you snagged those pictures - so frustrating that the seller pulled the listing for a private sale :-( we lose so much history that way...

I have the sunbeam variant, so that one isn't OOAK and I think the princess crash variant has been documented but not 100% on that

and yeah I don't think shelti's site is up and running at this point

oh hey didn't realize that was you on the ebay - I will PM you about minty et. al. that I won = happy to go through boards :-)

oh that is a cool find :-) I would love it if BF made an alternative pose fizzy :-) but yeah seems like maybe that was just a pose/color test who knows... if only the toys could speak

if you love sparkle ponies have you seen that we now have pro made and dye your own if you want colors for a bunch of sparkle G1  molds?  HQG1C from our very own members here clipper and co. Have US, Canada, UK and Europe covered with distributors.  So if you don't find baity sparkles there are plenty of HQG1C's to rehair :-) so you can have a fun sparkle-clan herd (bigger than the apples I imagine) here's the link to the make your own = https://www.clipperssail.com/shop?Collection=Create+Your+Own&page=3

(and no I am not a paid sponsor I just love this project and all the new franken poses - they have baby mountain boys now - so want it successful / love spreading the word to customizers)

MLP Nirvana / so ice crystal's mom has been found in the wild...
« on: November 04, 2022, 03:48:13 PM »
well that is what I called her   she's the prototype before the flatfoot went into production

so she's no longer just an entry in the wiki or just a photo in sales catalog :)

I've asked ember1 to reply with her lovely pictures here.  She asked for comparison pics of the FF cotton candy with furga if the theory that this prototype mold was then also used to produce italy's furga line of my little pony look alikes

IMO the flat foot is a closer match to the furga pony than the regular concave cotton candy

and furga as you hopefully can see is different than the flatfoot first run My Little Pony (please forgive that I made my FF a buddy for ms. furga so she got a paintjob since she was really faded  but hopefully everyone can at least see head/body styles)

overall it is to me plausible that furga got the prototype mold and then Hasbro made the flat foot 1982 mold followed by the concave foot collector pose mold

I'm familiar with sunfading and most marks go bye just takes time

there are IMO alot of good tutorials on the developer and UV method so I would say watch youtube and decide if you want to go that route

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFAVwFpIzZc

I posted this vid to show that there was some bleaching effect so I would be wary of fading a pony

oh my goodness I just bought some of your ponies!  sending a PM

oh you super lucky duck = keep the china IMO unless you want to sell it to me just name your price I have been hunting for a china version for ages.  Yes the hong kong is US and quite popular but seriously if you get picky there's dark vines variants, dark red hair variants, etc. because of several production runs :-) great thrifting find :-) she's cleaned up great!

oh no pipsqueak :( that reads like my own childhood story where all the ponies and breyers and  fashion fillies ended up in a big church / community yardsale ...

yeah that was a regret of mine so  I made sure I was one of those moms that kept everything toy-wise ...hehe that was my excuse to keep stuff on the shelves "for the kids" (including my own inner child)

so yeah not sure how often novis show up in the wild but ya never know with FB groups these days in addition to so many other online shops it's cool IMO to be able to find such childhood treasures again :-)

sooo... do I look to rebuild her back to her original?  This is one of those hybrids I am wondering about and feel like I've customized a piggy pony thinking it was a fakie

and this was a lovely memory of a trip to arizona and yet both these dolls are not at all common, still, I think I love the memory more (but somedays - tempting)
