Pony Corral / Good job, World's Smallest.... Nailed It!

Saw this today. How cute! Tiny Hitch, with a little movement gimmick. Very nice.

Pony Corral / Something here looks familiar...
« on: September 04, 2023, 07:39:53 AM »
Okay so I was doing an online search for puzzles to do with my niece and I found this set of 12 unicorn mini-puzzles, which are cute but... I started to get a weird feeling when I looked at them....then it hit me.

Is it just me, or did the artist who did these definitely take inspiration from MLP FiM? There's a running unicorn with rainbow mane, an orange one with yellow mane, a white one with purple mane wearing a frilly outfit, and a pink one with curly mane! There's even two that look like Celestia and Luna. This can't be a coincidence. Or am I reading too much into this? ^^;

I'm sorry if this was posted somewhere else and I missed it.

I usually check the "show new replies to your post" page every few days here to see if there's anything I've missed.

The last few days, whenever I check the page, it has an error message that says:

"The server is currently under high stress. Please try again shortly."

I've tried refreshing a few times but still get the same message. Is this something that is just happening to me, and I need to clear out my cache or something? Or is it a site wide issue?

Pony Corral / Omg what is this tiny adorable Spike from?
« on: November 28, 2022, 01:43:28 PM »
I work in a store that sells toys so it's quite often that I find a toy on the floor that either A.) a child dropped or B.) was on the shelf but some kid or adult took out of the package.

Either way, I found this tiny adorable Spike today. Look how tiny! I don't know if this is from a new toy or if some kid brought it from home and dropped it. Does anyone recognize it?

The Dollhouse / The Mysterious Breyer sign out in the wilderness...
« on: October 23, 2022, 09:07:29 AM »
I had a fun experience to tell that recently happened to me, and I know my fellow collectors here on the Arena would appreciate the story.

I work retail and when one of our nearby stores is short a person, I'm often one of the only people willing to travel to those stores and fill in until they hire a replacement. So I was asked to fill in for someone in North Conway, NH, which is about an hour from where I live. Not too big a deal. I've driven further than that. (And I get reimbursed for mileage which is very nice.)

So I live out in a rural area, and North Conway is on the other side of a mountain range, popular for skiing. I have to take a winding mountain road in order to get to a bigger rural route road, that takes me into North Conway (thankfully I have a good GPS!). So anyway, I'm on my way to North Conway, very early in the morning, to open the store where I work. I'm driving down this rural route through the mountains in the middle of nowhere, with an occasional house or farm but mostly just trees and trees and trees for my view.

When all of a sudden, I see a Breyer sign on the side of the road! It's big and blue with white letters, unmistakable. Of course I'm going fast so I breeze right by it without even really seeing it, and I can't be late for work so I can't turn around and check it out, but I'm so curious! Does this sign in the woods really say Breyer, or was I seeing things? And what could it mean?

So the next day as I'm driving to work again, I slow down as I come to the area, to see what it could be. There it is, the Breyer logo on a large sign on the side of the road, in the middle of nowhere. Above it is a wooden sign that reads, to my surprise, Triple Mountain Model Horses! It's a model horse store, in the middle of nowhere!? I'm confused and intrigued! Keep in mind there are no other businesses anywhere on this road, and barely any houses. There's a dirt road next to the sign, but I can't see a building to go with it. Through the trees I can see a couple buildings far back along the dirt road but they look like houses, not a store.

Being the spooky time of year, my overactive imagination is in overdrive now. A suspicious horse model store in the middle of the wilderness, enticing people to have to drive out here away from civilization! What could be their nefarious plot for us unsuspecting model horse collectors!? XD

Well when I got home from work I googled the Triple Mountain Model Horses and found some very nice photos of the store, which apparently does exist, even if you can't see it from the road. It looks amazing, with a life-sized model appaloosa out front! And I do plan to stop and visit someday. It's a bit of a drive from where I live and usually I only go that way when I'm going to work, so I'm going to have to wait to make a special trip on my day off, when I'm sure they're open.

I look forward to meeting these people who run the shop and seeing all the Breyers and other toys they might have! I'll keep you all updated when I finally make a trip out there.

Just saw the newest G5 YouTube short and I couldn't believe my eyes. Check out the background at the 4:23 time mark (the link should go right to the spot):

I think they actually left the storyboard sketches in the final product.  :lmao: Wow good quality control as always, Hasbro!

Pony Corral / Is G5 Actually Doing Something with Cutie Marks?
« on: April 22, 2022, 05:21:43 PM »
With the cutie marks being smaller and hard to see in the G5 movie, and no attention being paid to them in the plot or dialog, I think we all got the feeling that G5 was going to mostly ignore cutie marks altogether.

I just caught one of the new G5 YouTube shorts which showed Hitch giving a tour of Mareitime Bay. The footage zoomed in on Zipp's cutie mark while she was having fun on a rope climbing course, and her cutie mark began to glow. This is the first I've seen of G5 paying any attention at all to cutie marks, so I was intrigued.

There doesn't seem to be an obvious connection between what she was doing and why her cutie mark was glowing (maybe they glow when the pony is especially happy or doing a skill they are particularly good at?) but this might be something that gets explored in future shorts or the new upcoming series.

I'm curious, has there been any other cutie mark references in G5 media, like are they mentioned on the backs of the toy boxes or in any of the books?

Pony Corral / Ever seen a pony in a dream?
« on: January 30, 2022, 08:00:41 AM »
So I just woke up from a dream where I was shopping, and there was a G1 Twilight in my dream! Her coloring and pose was normal, but the toy had her symbol cover her body, like a Twice as Fancy pony. (Half Twilight, half Milky Way, I guess!)

Have you ever had a pony show up in your dreams? If so, did you ever draw it or make a custom of it? Please share! I'd love to see!

Pony Corral / What G1 game was this?
« on: January 29, 2022, 03:58:01 PM »
I was cruising Tumblr today and someone posted a photo of their old MLP game they found while cleaning. I've never seen it before! Can anyone explain what it is/how you play? Is it a game or like an art making thing?

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Cats Vs Pickles
« on: November 07, 2021, 09:34:44 AM »
So does anyone know more about theses adorable bean bag plush? I've fallen in love with them but they can be hard to find. I heard they come from an online game or something? Anyway they are cute and each box is full of unique characters! If anyone has pictures of your faves, I'd love to see!

Sometimes you find them loose and sometimes they come in blind boxes, which I think is weird. Never seen the same product with both options, before.

Here's my skeleton boy, he rode on my hat for my Halloween costume this year.

Pony Corral / Child's First 100 Words from the 80's
« on: November 01, 2021, 01:50:51 PM »
I saw this at work today and I was amused so I had to take a picture!

There's a trend in children's books these days to appeal to parents' nostalgia, so you see a bunch of baby books with characters from great 80's movies like Goonies, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Labyrinth, The Princess Bride and more. Here's a little display we set up at work:

And what's this? Oh, there's a book to teach a child their first 100 Words ...from the 80's. XD And what is right on the cover? PONY! What a great word for a child to learn! lol.

Pony Corral / Why do you torment me with packaging, Hasbro?!
« on: August 21, 2021, 09:44:16 AM »
I know this is probably old news but I have to take a moment to bemoan my fate--the fate which occurred while trying to open these weird MLP Cute Mark Crew packages!

Yeah, I know this is part of the current gimmick of kids toys, especially girl toys... to make the packaging a nightmare (er, I mean, fun!) to open. But geez! This was so much more work than it had to be!

I bought my first Cutie Mark Crew set, and on Amazon it looks innocuous...suspiciously innocuous... I should have guessed what was in store...

I thought "Oh that looks cute" and then didn't think any more of it. But then, when I got the dang thing, I had to figure out how to get into it! You can't just open the cardboard at the top and slide the toys out OH NO. They are each nestled in their own little individual alcove! First you have to rip off each cardboard balloon, which are perforated so you think it would be easy, but NO they don't have any easy spot to grab and rip. You gotta dig in your fingernails to pry up a spot to rip it open.

Then for some reason there's a little tissue paper covering that you have to punch through with your finger to reveal the prize? What, am I at a carnival now?

THEN each little item is wrapped in its own (different colored!) bag! Why? Hasbro, this is just too much work. Dear, dear Hasbro, if you put HALF as much effort into making your actual toys that you put into your dumb packaging, we would be so happy. I swear to you, we would.

And lastly EACH BAG IS FILLED WITH CONFETTI WHY WHY HASBRO?

 :drunk:

Why must you turn my bedroom into the remains of an 8-year-old's birthday party just so I can enjoy these cute little pony creatures!?

So finally I opened them all and lo and behond! I have to dig through the confetti to find their little accessories. Not bad enough that I can open the bag, get the pony, and dump out the confetti OH NO I gotta root through it so I don't accidentally through out any accessories! (Accessories which have absolutely nothing to do with MLP and are so tiny that no kid is going to still have them six months from now anyway...) But finally! Here they are! Whew!
