I bought the Celestia & Twilight that came with pony figures but had no desire to keep the dolls 
I just can't bring myself to like them. I love my ponies and I do collect other types of dolls but I just don't ever think I'll ever warm up to Equestria Girls.

I am someone who has never owned a doll in her life, but when the MH dolls started coming out I was intrigued, but never enough to buy one. The Equestria Girls dolls hit a sweet spot for me though, and I had to get a couple.

I mainly got these two because I wanted the ponies that came with them for potential future baits, but I also may customize the dolls too. But I also really like Twilight and Celestia, and I've grown fond of them on my desk, so I might have to wait until I can get a replacement pair before I start destroying them.

I'm not crazy about the quality either though. The hair falls out easily, and pretty much right out of the box, Celestia's wings broke, which pissed me off. I also think the click-on boots with no feet is weird and silly. But I do really like the ponies that came with them...

It is weird though; these are the first dolls I have ever owned in my life.

I got the sunset shimmer and twilight pack because I wanted sunset shimmer. I planned to customize both of them but as they sat on my desk I grew fond of them.

I then picked up the rainbow rocks apple jack and she'd absolutely adorable. I love her.

Originally I hated the concept of EQG and railed against it. Then an imgur album leaked of some in theater pics of the screen during the climax and I was stunned. My boyfriend and I went up to Albany to see a screening with our friends' Meetup group and I got all excited and teared up when I realized

Since then I'd been eyeing the dolls, but they're not too worth it until they hit clearance IMHO. Especially since they're supposed to be a Monster High rip-off, but the quality just isn't there with this first series.

So far I only have the Celestia pictured above. I got $3 off at a Walmart because her leg came off in-package. I love fixing toys so I didn't mind. Most of us who owned dolls have popped limbs and heads on and off all the time.

Turns out her leg was made of two hard pieces of plastic glued together similar to hard horses, like Barbie horses, and the plug was a softer material that kept bending out of the way. I needed pliers and to crack her leg's seam a bit before I was able to fix her.

I do want Sunset Shimmer because I love her (and she's the next cosplay) but I'm trying to wait for a deal/sale for her and any other of last year's dolls. However, I LOVE TACKY THINGS and will be buying the heck out of these Rainbow Rocks dolls! Ya'll step aside and let Mama Minty have her loud, tacky, brightly colored Jem knock-off!

IMO the equestia girls dolls are... interesting, but not quite up to the quality of dolls I like to collect. They'd do better with more articulation and a better face sculpt I think, but I've seen a few cute outfits on them. Maybe if the doll line does well they'll add more articulation in the regular versions or something, hopefully.
