ever wanted to go back in time to a toy shop?
« on: November 17, 2013, 11:01:40 AM »
i know i have, back to my favorite shop to buy some ponies at their ORIGINAL prices, all new, factory curls... just imagine, mimic without paying shipping! or experiencing getting another mail order, or perhaps your very first! :dribble: if you could go back to your favorite childhood toy store, what would you buy?

Oh yes and I also wished that I could of been able to take pictures of it! I do miss the days when Christmas was getting close and Bomggars would get there Breyer Horses. They would have a whole half of isle of them! Now they only get a total of five different Breyers. Its so sad and they only get one of each to!

I do also miss going to walk mart and Alco for ponies!

No question.  I go back in time to the day I found Lady Flutter at the K.B. Toy Store at the old Newington Mall in NH.  I would buy her instead of leaving her at the store only to have my "friend" buy her later that day.

This is the day that changed my pony collecting days as a kid.  I'll never, ever forget how crushed I felt losing the pony I'd dreamed about.  Ever.  Honestly, over 20 years later it still stings and hurts my heart:(

The very first purchase I ever made as a child was Sweet Sundrop. It'd be neat to go back after 'I' make that purchase and get the other Prom Sisters to complete it.

I was only born in 1991 but heck yes I would LOVE to go back to the 80s and see lovely MOC/MIB/MIP/etc G1 ponies all over the place!!! I would even accept having my income and funds go through the timewarp and be scaled accordingly so I could only buy a few ponies, the same as I only buy a few G4s every couple of months. Just seeing the highest point of quality on so many of my favourite ponies would be reward enough. Party Times and Cloud Puffs without regrind! Gingerbreads and Barnacles that haven't developed cancer! Majestys without head/body mismatches! Rainbow Ponies free of symbol rust! Clean, fluffy so softs! Twice as Fancys with perfect, unrubbed symbols! Twinkle eyes with their iridescent coating! Unfaded and unripped cards, unyellowed bubbles, factory curled locks, complete accessories right next to their original ponies! :faint: What a wonderland that would be to experience.

I was born in '88. I had G1s back then but only remember one pony when it was still it's box... I do remember how awesome toy stores were as a kid, in general. I would buy all the awesome stuff from the 80s and 90s. The world of toys has really changed. With the exception of a few things, most toys just don't seem as awesome today.

Oh gosh, yeah I'd definitely grab me some ponies. Flutters for sure, maybe some so softs, probably restore my old petites collection, reacquire Little Flitter...

(And if I had any money left, I'd probably go forward a few years and replace some of the Jurassic Park and/or Gargoyles figures I've loved and lost.)

The price tag on my Posey backcard says 3.49 or something like that.

I would arrive back home and a flood of brand new, now-vintage toys would come flooding out of my time machine like an overstuffed-closet-gag scene.

Not necessarily a toy shop, but I wanna go back in time during the G3 days where the real ponies were being produced, I'd rather see an abundancy of ponies on the shelves of TRU/Target/Walmart not just 1 here and 2 ponies there...G4's horrible!  :yucky:
Oh no!

Oh my goodness, fashion star fillies! I'd love to see them on the shelf and pick up a few to open.
