Title: What do you count as pony?
Post by: QueenGusty on October 13, 2012, 02:22:21 AM
Strange question I know but let me explain.

I'm currently goign through and sprucing up my collection and in the meantime have got blind bags etc. The question is, when you come to the final total say I had 330+ ponies when I went on my 4 year hiatus do you count blind bags, mcd, Ponyville ponies etc? I mean now, looking at the Blind bags and Ponyvilles I've got, I probably would be pushing over the 400 mark but should I actually include them in the final tally?

Carrie

EDIT: corrected spelling erros and added Ponyvilles in question!

No I dont include any pony shaped merch [key rings to cake toppers] or mcds or ponyville or blind bags or plushes or even petites as ponies - for me they are all essentially merchandise in one form or another :)

I count brushables, blind bags and McD ponies, but not plushies or pony-themed things.

I count McDs, Ponyville, blind bags, etc... but not miscellaneous figurines (cake toppers) and plushies. I count my doubles but I hope to work on selling some of those off once I get the time to put up my shop page... >.<

Personally I do two separate counts, one for proper ponies and one for blind bag/mcd etc ie. last time I counted a few months ago I had 216 ponies and 115 other pony toys.

Everything but the random merch, pretty much.  I often count molded and brushables as separates though.

Well, for me... Anything that is pony-shaped. Plushies, brushables, blind bags, FS figures. They all count as ponies to me :P

I've been debating this same thing myself as I have both petites and blindbags.  Right now I'm thinking that I will keep separate tallies.  One for regular ponies and one for petites/bb.  I do not include plushies or McDs.

This.
I count things that are pony shaped as ponies (except my Pinkie bubble blower, RBD key chain, G1 Twilight necklace thing, etc.).

I'm a "gotta catch em' all!" blind bag collector, so what I do is something like "Ok, I have 30 brushables" (I probably have more ) "Three fashions styles, and three SETS of blind bags"

I count them... but on a different list.

Ie, 400 ponys (xx are BB, McDonald's, etc).

Or maybe that's because my list is divided that way XD  And count the final number of ponies, the only not included are the merch with the images on ponies, not a figure (ie, pencilcase, notebooks, I include cake toppers, keychains, etc.).

I only count proper ponies - no blind bags, pretties, merchandise, plushness, etc.  they are counted separately, as in "I have 200 ponies, 6 plushies, 10 blind bags, etc. . ."  :)

(I also don't count my for sale ponies, as they aren't part of the collection.)

I don't count duplicates or BBs

I count adult and baby ponies and I do count duplicates - two Hippity Hops are not one pony!  I count McDonald's ponies, blind bags, breezies, petites, dolly mix, ponyville etc on a separate list.  I don't count plushies, merch, ornaments or fakies at all.

My definition of actual "My Little Pony" is a brushable pony.  Anything else, I consider merely merchandise (including the blind bags).

Depends on how specific I want to be. When it comes to MLP, I count brushables, fashion ponies, and moulded vinyl ponies (bigger than blind bags). If I count everything, I would include blind bags and plushies, and I have several "fakies" from franchises (Tokidoki Unicorno, Princess Filly, LPS, etc). I've got about 200 ponies or so.

I count regular brushables as ponies.

If I really want to bump up how many ponies I own then I might count the petites and the blind bags etc, but they are really merchandise in my view.

I count G1,G3,G4 as pony and BB ponies,McDonald' ponies and fakies.

What about G2..?

I only count the actual brushable figures. Blind bags, cake toppers, keychains, petites, etc don't count to me. They are merchandise.
