Title: What other G1 acc molds were reused by other toy lines?
Post by: Gaspode on February 23, 2012, 01:06:29 PM
Hi
Recently been trying to get my head round accessories a little better and came across info on 'fakey' princess hats released with other toy lines. I just wondered if the same happened with any other accs?

Thanks
Gaspode

Yes! Combs and the Ducky Toys were also reused. - The Flower Brush and the Flower Pick for certain.
The Normal comes were reused by Hasbro Make Me Up Darlings - also the Paint Pallet and brush that came with the Ponywear.  Moondreamers used the same mold as the Petite Pony Star Pick. - They glow in the dark though so it's easy to tell the difference.

Stacker toys, princess damsel hats, duckies [as Ivy says], toothbrushes, toothpastes, baby id necklaces and a few of the brushes & combs [most notable the candy cane combs] and some others I cant think of...

It really depends what you classify as "fakie" - because some items such as the princess damsel hats were released with another Hasbro line so are we calling them "fakie" because they didnt come with MLP or because they didnt come with a HB item who essentially were well within their right to reuse...?

Oh I just meant fakie as in non mlp. Other Hasbro toy lines are interesting too.

Sounds like a lot of baby accs were reused, I guess they look cute with dolls... What about bottles and dishes?

I know that a baby dalmatian from Hasbro's My Little Puppy line is a dead ringer for Baby Susie's dalmatian friend. The only difference is that the base color is white, and Susie's dalmatian is yellow. They have the same blue markings and pose though, so it's easy to mix them up.

i heard that there were flower picks that came with a set of strawberry shortcake dolls that looks exactly like the flutter pony picks.

I know it's not an accessory per se, but wasn't the whole Pretty Parlor mold re-used in the g1 LPS (Littlest Pet Shop) set?

I thought My Pretty Mermaids reused some of the combs, as well.

Hasbro certainly enjoys re-using their stuff.  :)

Yes the My Pretty Mermaid line also used a lot of the same accesories.

There was a line of dolls that re-used the birthday party hats.

Those small bow barrettes which came with Great Hair ponies

Which, interestingly enough, originated in the Takara MLP line 9 years earlier.

Hasbro sold the puppies from the Puppy Surprise series (early 90's) in individual sets. One of those sets were drink & wets, and they came with the same bottles as the MLP drink & wet babies. I think the newborn twins stroller & Sweet Dreams cribs were also reused on Puppy Surprise.

The boombox from Get in the Groove outfit originally came with Danse of the Jem line. I think Danse was sold a year prior, so technically they reused that on MLP.

My Little Puppy, Kitty, & Bunny sets were released as an extension of MLP in the US line several years before the European Best Friends ponies came out. The 3 pets were all molds that originated from the Puppy/Kitty/Bunny line.
