Hey all
I've been reading some conflicting info on Yellow Moondancer. One website implied she was a UK variation (as well as being available in other parts of Europe), and another says she was never sold in the UK at all.
Huh?
Can any of you experts clear this up? :)
-
I was wondering about this too. I saw one recently that was definitely yellow (not yellowed) and marked Italy. But I've read that she's HK too.
-
There are 2 versions of yellow Moonie, I know 1 is Italian, and the other is Hong Kong.
Where the HK was released, I am unsure of, but I thought it was in Europe.
-
Hmmm, odd that there's no firm info out there! I was aware of the Italian version, and that she was sold in Europe (assuming the HK version, and sold I think in Sweden?? I might be well off there...) But was she or was she not sold in the UK? If not, then one of my fav pony sites has provided something rather misleading! (or at least represented the info incorrectly)

The UK didnt get any version of Moondancer...we were missing a large number of ponies early in the MLP line - a lot of ponies from certain sets were excluded...I think the confusion that she is a UK version is because the HK version has been found on a standard UK Hasbro card. However, UK Hasbro supplied a large number of countries across Europe and Australia/NZ with ponies, some of whom they did not release to their own market.
I dont believe any one has ever come up with conclusive proof one way or the other but I would think she is probably a Scandinavian release...the Italian version covered most of central Europe so its likely the HK version from UK Hasbro went into markets where the Italian version had not already been sold.

HK Yellow Moondancer was sold in Australian and New Zealand. I bought my Yellow Moondancer from an Australian seller. She was sold in Denmark and possibly other European (Scandinavian?) countries as well. So far it seems - and correct me if I'm wrong - that Yellow Hong Kong Moondancer was sold in the same countries that had the alternate birthflowers as well.
There is an Italian Yellow Moondancer as well. She's actually easier to spot because normal Italian Moondancers don't seem to be nearly as prone to discoloration as regular white HK Moondancers. Italian Yellow Moondancer has blue eyes, like all My Little Ponies marked as Made In Italy. (The HK Yellow Moondancer has purple eyes.)

Thanks for the info Eternity! :bigups: :D I was wondering about HK Moony too so I am glad to know once and for all!

Does the HK one have glittery symbols too? The Ital one looks like metallic paint.

HK yellow Moonie has glittery symbols just like the white counterpart :)
-
How much do they go for? I've been wanting one and I should be getting my tax refund soon...
-
when i bought mine last year, i was searching the net for pc's and found them to be $100 - $120 for a minty one, i bought mine for just over $50 (it was in very mint con)and one went around the same time for that much too.
she is awesome but i never saw her being sold in nz unless it was curtain selected stores like the birthflower ponies, not a lot of retailer sold them, i remember that.......gosh im old lol
-
I think I paid about $50 for my HK version as well....I think her price can be up and down - sometimes she is difficult to distinguish in auctions as in poor light a very dirty, yellowed Moondancer can throw you off. HK Moony is a distinct yellow like Red Roses but because the white is easily discoloured its easy to make a mistake.

Holy batman...the eye color difference is mentioned but has anyone noticed in these two photos the glittery moon symbol is flipped...the Italy moon symbol goes toward the head and the HK is facing toward the tail...is it like that on all?
