Title: Who was your first Boy Pony?
Post by: Leave a Whisper on April 11, 2018, 07:46:55 AM: I'm talking from any generation. They're so few compared to the girls.

Salty was mine as a kid. Dunno what happened to him though. I believe I either lost him during a move, or one of my cousins swiped him. I wouldn't mind having him back.

My daughter"s first boy pony was Chief. My boyfriend bought him for her for Christmas.

I was such a weird kid and probably had other toy horses because I remember turning him over to see if he was also anatomically correct XD

Then later in the early 90's I found a Salty at a second hand store, and he got chewed up by one of my cousin's dogs that they had over, which I'm glad we didn't throw away, so I still have him and he fueled my love for chewed up ponies =D

He's seen better days with some missing hair plugs, rubs and tail rust, but I still have him and I love him so much. I used to pretend he and Paradise, who I found with him, were a couple and they'd adopt all the baby ponies I found and would go on adventures everywhere we traveled. So many good memories!

I remember thinking he was a girl when I got him until I got home and researched G1s, and I was really confused why he was the only 'draft horse' lol.

My sister's first one was Salty, and she also found him at a garage sale around the same time that I got Steamer. She was lucky enough to find him with his original hat though! We'd always play that they were best buds. She still has her Salty and his hat as well, and he's over here chillin' with Steamer at the moment.

I love boy ponies, and so far have 3 G1 boys! Salty was my first good condition G1 boy, from a cheap Letgo lot.

My sister's first and only boy is Baby Paws, found in an antique store as a kid.

Oh...unless you count baby ponies. In which case it was Baby Lucky. But I count adult and baby boys differently...

I am not sure about Naynie's but it may have been Barnacle...all hers came second hand.

He still has a short tail that's frizzy beyond hope, choppy neck seam where I took him apart kind of roughly for cleaning (I was younger and inexperienced), a nearly-sheared forelock, and a poorly-angled cut to his mane (when I was young, maybe 6 or 7, somehow I did not understand that his hair was nylon and would never grow, so I gave him a haircut, showed my mom, and then went into hysterics when she explained to me that his hair was stuck that way and would never grow back :rolleyes:). But I think he's great and he'll always have a special place with me. :heart:

I found Tex at a nasty flea market and nearly cried. I didn’t know any other actual boys existed outside of Daddy AD! It was a good day!

I never had the sister until a couple of years ago, instead I had two Baby Brother's one of whom I was fairly convinced was a little girl as she didn't have a bowtie (she likely did but it was removed...). But I have two older brother's so it could've been (when I first got them) that I had to have two little boys because boys come in pairs. :facepalm:

Tracks came along later due to my family's obsession with trains. But as far as I was concerned Baby Bouncy and Tic Tac Toe were also boys (this may have been due to my brother being kind and volunteering to have them bought for him in the sales so that I could have the complete set of first tooth's, ergo boys toys had to be boys). :facepalm:

As far as adult ponies go, I don't remember since I got many around the same time--it was probably Tex or Steamer, but my favorite has always been Chief.

I remember seeing Baby Schoolbag but rejecting buying him because his pose was different from the advert in the leaflet, and I remember seeing the Daddy ponies for the Loving Families and later the family Friends. But I would have liked a Big Brother.

I only had the 3 Mountain Boys and Lucky as a kid. Oh wait, no. Baby Bro Bright Bouquet as well. He and Lucky were the naughty boys of my baby pony cupboard and Tropical Breeze was Lucky's long suffering big sister who had to put Lucky right xD.

We did find all the brothers except Quarterback at the local carboot sale so I know they were sold here. I have no idea why I never saw them as a kid, because I know I would have bought one of them. I liked Chief after the slitherwigs story, and also Wigwam and his firestone...and Tug and Tracks were also comic favourites. And then there was Trucker, who raced Speedy across ponyland? I loved the stories about the boy ponies as a kid so I know if I had seen them I would have bought at least one...

I did buy Fireball and/or Thundercloud with my money, so I was definitely interested in buying boy ponies. Hasbro were mean. Sigh.

My first Big Brother pony I think was Tex. I got him like 2 years ago on ebay. And then I got Slugger and Quarterback in a pretty baity lot of ponies my friend rescued from a closing preschool for me. They are in my restore pile. I got them around the same time as Tex so I can't remember for sure which came first.

I think the larger size looks awesome on display. I definitely want more but I am a little picky so I will probably focus on sets of mommy and daddy ponies.

I literally don't remember which I got first. The first boy I got when I started collecting again was Steamer.

For me that would be G3 Tropical Surprise. He will always be a boy to me since his teal body with green and dark blue hair just seemed fitting for a boy and even his cutie mark looked like something you would find on a pair of surfer shorts.

As far as official boys go I'm not sure if it was Emerald Ray or Twilight Sky since I got both blind bag sized ponies around the same time.

Am now fully on board with boy ponies in all shapes and sizes.

That's a nice price with his original accessories as well :) Congrats :D Since apparently it doesn't matter about baby ponies, Lucky was technically my first too. (BUt I still think of Sunburst more, I always forget Lucky as a boy pony...poor thing)
