Title: Spring UK pony meet? West Norfolk. Collection sale
Post by: licclefreak on November 26, 2012, 01:36:16 PM
Evening ponies,

I am thinking of holding a pony meet in 2013. The main focus of this day/weekend would be for you to raid my pony collection before it goes on sale to the general public. As much as I love my collection I really, really hate my job and hope to start up my own business. Of course I have no savings, only piles of brightly coloured plastic.

Would there be any interest in this type of thing? Of course we could mix it with food, alcohol and pony events. Stuff that I held onto in the great university fund raiser 4+ years ago will be up for sale as this time it really has to be an all or nothing sale. I have a lot of G3 MIB, Nirvanas, MIP G1s and much, much more- 6 large ikea billy bookcases crammed with stuff. I would take up about 5 stalls at the ponycon and would never be able to transport it there.

Anyway, please post if you might be interested. If it is a probably then I will think about dates and stuff.

I think it's great you want to start your own business - I know how awful it can be in a job you hate. What do you want to do?

Shame you have to sell your collection to do this, but I guess ponies can be like pretty savings for some!

I'd be interested in helping you out. I have family Norfolk way so I'm often popping up that way, we travel up via Birmingham/M6/A14 so that might be nearby.

Let me know what you decide and I'll try my best to come and support ^_^

Where about's in Norfolk are you? I'm in Suffolk, as long as uni isn't working me into the ground I'd definitely make an appearance :)

I am in Downham Market, just a few miles outside Kings Lynn. I am hoping to open a dog business, hydrotherapy and daycare, possibly grooming. I have a business plan and would like to get started in the Summer. I guess the meet would be in February half term or over the Easter holidays.

The reason I am considering this option is because I don't want to start selling, sell 20 of my favourites and then regret it. Online sales are slow so this is more likely!

Who has experience of selling MIB G3? What is the best way to do it? Full sets, 20 in one go, singles?

So long as I dont have work then I'll definitely make the journey up. Very tempted by the prospect of mip g1s XD

I'd be up for it :D I loved Pangel and Yo-Yo's sale-meet so would love to do it again :D If I did come, could I bring hubby? As much as he doesn't admit it he's pretty into the pony 'scene' :P A chunk of his time at the last meet was spent on the FiM iOS game on his iPad haha!

I'd consider having one last stall on the UK Ponycon - but you'd have to wait til october.
Didnt you have stalls there before? I thought I could remember that.

I would love to come if it was in or after March I would definitely be able to make it (that's when I am able to book more holidays from work)

Thanks for all the replies. I think I am going to explore other finance options first. The more I look at them the more they shout 'Nooo! Keep me!' A pony meet is always good anyway. I'll post again when decisions are made.

LOL - honest, I try and flog everything else first if I am in a situation where I need money...

Oh I get that feeling totally!!! :) Every time I line some up for sale, I get the pictures and then the little ponies tell me [honestly :P] that they would much prefer to stay with me than move on to some other new, albeit lovely, home.
