I got a response from Raindrop, I get to start wrapping my extras tonight! I AM SO EXCITED!! I get to finally start seeing my swap box come together and work on the decorations and whatnot. I am saving my ponies to wrap last, per the last check-in and such, but we can wrap extras. WOOT!

With the big extras budget we had for this swap, I really had fun and went crazy, lol. I feel like this is seriously the first box I've sent that's more focused on extras than ponies, which is a weird thing for me, so partner, if I miss the mark at all, please deal with me!

Eternia and I will touch bases on this.  It's not something we usually do for custom swaps, but I'll see what she thinks .

ETA: Don't worry about sending us pics of your extras.  We just want to know how everyone is doing on their rehairs at this point.  If you have not yet checked in, please do so!  Carry on, and good luck!

Pony #2 arrived today! Hopefully it will be pony #2 anyway.

Yes yes yes!! Grail bait arrived today and it's fully rehaired! Glue is drying, it'll be styled tomorrow and I can take a photo for the last check-in and then I'm TOTALLY FINISHED!!

Went and got the extras for my partner last night, but realized I don't have a big enough box, lol! Will have to get one tonight.  =] also couldn't find the candy but I am going to hunt one more place before giving up.  =]

Got about halfway on my first pony tonight before I put it down after breaking 6, yes 6 needles. Aargh. I ran out of rehair needles I had purchased from a member here who makes them,  so I  tried making my own. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I have broken three while rehairing and another three just trying to make them. Taking a break before I try again.

Got about halfway on my first pony tonight before I put it down after breaking 6, yes 6 needles. Aargh. I ran out of rehair needles I had purchased from a member here who makes them,  so I  tried making my own. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I have broken three while rehairing and another three just trying to make them. Taking a break before I try again.

Whhhhaaat?! That is crazy! I have ever only broken one needle so far, and I had my dad make me a bunch. Some people use a dremel, but have you tried using pliers to open the needle eye, then sandpaper one side down?

I know!! I went out and bought some different pliers and made a new one that did not snap right away. I was able to finish my first rehair and I'm loving her!!


Update: finished my second pony this morning! It will be so hard to let them go! Just need to finish buying extras and I'll be completely done. Yeah!!

I experimented with making my own rehair needles/tool before, and had pretty good luck with it at one point.  More recently I tried again with a different batch of needles and every one of them broke.  I thought it was just me until one of the same package of needles broke when I was sewing with it.  Is it possible that the batch of needles you were using was made of a cheaper/more brittle metal?

I just finished one of my rehairs this week--my first one with a pony with a mechanism.  I finished with my hands covered in glue, but the mechanism still works!  I hope my partner likes her!

Eternia and I have agreed that a teaser picture would be fun, although you'll want to be sure that it is done in a way that doesn't give away the pony or who your partner is!
