I don't remember who posted about it before or if I have the details right, but G1 hair was made in an Italian factory that burned to the ground. So what is now sold as "original" G1 hair is close but not exact. Again, I don't remember exactly, so do with that info what you will.
New nylon hair needs to be washed and conditioned to get rid of the manufacturing oils. Boil perming shouldn't take long at all. Just remember to let it dry completely before you take the curls out. I usually let it sit for at least 24 hours. Original pony hair was curled in a certain way and I don't know if anyone knows the exact process. It has held up for 40 years. Even after washing it, the curl comes back. I think it might be more the way it was styled rather than the nylon itself?

In all seriousness, I had no idea! So there could be a slight difference - maybe the original hair was slightly thinner? Of course the hair we can get these days is great, but it'd be interesting to know.

When the current suppliers say that they're ordering from Hasbro's supplier, they're speaking about the company that currently supplies Hasbro, not the company that supplied them in the 1980s and 1990s.
