Hello all... it's been a while since I posted here
I haven't done much art lately. But I did recently sign up for a pottery night class just for kicks, since I remembered enjoying playing with clay some 20yrs ago at school (wow, that makes me feel OLD).
Anyway, after two classes I was getting a little over pots... I kinda knew what I wanted to do and figured I could apply the same techniques the tutor was teaching, and when I got busted by the tutor making Alfonsz (as I've dubbed him, lol), he was very supportive and I have my leave to keep working on him! I'm really enjoying it!
I still have lots of refining to do, and for now I think I will keep him to just the bust... but I think he's coming along nicely :) I just hope he doesn't explode in the kiln or something!

That is looking really good. It has such beautiful form.

Beautiful lines!
I can imagine him set in a "hidden" garden with greenery growing around him! Will be he an indoor or outdoor art piece?
-
What a gorgeous piece of art already! His figure is stunning from every angle, which I find a hard thing to do.
-
It looks amazing already, can't wait to see the finished result! :faint:
-
Wow! He's amazing!!
-
it looks so real! I cant wait to see how it turns out!

Thank you all so much ^.^ ^.^
Glitterball, I probably see it as an indoor piece. Anything I put outside ends up being a prop in my daughter's outdoor games, lol!
I think I will keep working on his neck and build up those shoulders... and then... I don't know?? Once he's fired he'll go a terracotta colour unless I glaze him. I kinda don't like the shiny/china look though, I'd rather a matte finish. I wonder if there's a glaze I could use to that effect - anyone know? I can always ask the pottery tutor next week too. I could also always just paint him once he's fired... but what colour??
Questions questions!!

Fabulous work! Did you decide on the colour yet? :)

Not yet. Still thinking on that! Either very dark or grey?
