The Dollhouse / Ophelia (EAH Hybrid.
« on: December 11, 2021, 08:21:11 PM »
Argentina's Garden suggested I make a thread here about her and I figured I'd start it now while I was thinking about it and just add to it later. So I'm going to start with story time. **copied from my instagram**

 -  About two years ago, I found Ophelia in a rainy parking lot. I left her there. I continued into the store, going through and loading the small cart I was pushing with groceries. I barely spared the broken doll any thought. When I'd finished shopping I worked on fitting way too many bags into my backpack using clips to attach bags there wasn't enough pocket space for. Seriously, back in the day I turned walking home with groceries into an art form. Now it's raining, not too much but just enough to be annoying and I start home with less haste. I stop by the broken doll just to reassure myself that she is broken. She's missing both legs, all of one arm and half of the other. Her hair is matted and both it and her face are filthy, and her torso is cracked and coming apart at the seams. I'm pretty sure she's been run over at least once. Seeing all of this, I pick up the doll who's seen better days and stick her into an empty grocery bag which I clip on with the others. Together, we go home. Fast forward to today and thanks to bebeblytheco on stay for supplying Blythe bodies in varying skin tones and Ophelia finally has a body of her own again. Yeah she shows some wear and tear, not sure yet if she's going to need a full reroot or not, and her head has a nasty split along the part line that needs repair, but she's got spirit and I think she's definitely a keeper.  -

I've named her Ophelia and right now I'm trying to decide what I'm doing for her head and hair and if I'm going to change anything about her face up.
Here are two pictures I've taken and I'll try to get more later.

The Dollhouse / Question about Dollies and glue.
« on: September 20, 2016, 05:35:17 AM »
So today I had a small incident and fell while carrying my AI doll Moss, ended up landing on the poor little sweetie. :(
Discovered a short while later that I had cracked/broken one of her fingers, it's still attached a little bit but could fall clean off at any time probably and it breaks my heart. My question is what kind of glue would be safe to fix her since she's made of ABS plastic and so far everything I've found online has had suggestions of welding, using epoxy (which isn't possible for me right now), or types of glue that melt and re-solidify her plastic  None of those sound like good solutions to me but I really don't want to risk her finger falling off and getting lost and I can't just box her up until a later time as she's my little therapy dolly and need to have her out and about.
Is regular super glue okay for these little ladies, or should I use elmers or my lo-temp gluegun? Any help would be wonderful thanks!

Pony Corral / Question about rust removal
« on: August 08, 2015, 09:49:08 PM »
Okay, so none of the stores around here for whatever reason have Rit Rust Remover. My mom picked up some Carbona Stain Devils for Rust and I am wondering if anyone has had any experience using it on ponies and whether or not it works. I'm trying to de-rust a few BBEs and I really would rather not destroy them in the process.
Also are there any other suggestions if the Carbona is not a good way to go?

The Dollhouse / Wig Help Please?
« on: August 02, 2015, 05:03:47 AM »
So my Isul Hyde's wig has started slipping terribly, and aside from taping it in place, (which I'm worried will damage him or his wig) or gluing it on (which I really don't want to do since I may want to change wigs) how can I get this thing to stay in place? I'm not sure if a wig cap would help or not, or even what kind to get since this side of the doll world is still pretty new to me. I've thought about trying to follow some tutorials I've seen for making wig caps but once again I'm not sure which method would work best, and I was hoping some of you who are much more knowledgeable in these things might give me a helpful nudge in the right direction?
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I really don't want to have get rid of his hair and I'm afraid to save up for wigs in other colors/styles for him if this is going to be an unfixable situation.
Thanks in advance!

So some of you may or may not remember when I got a MIO Isul doll, and he has been a WIP since I got him, I was lucky enough to commission Vertefae/Ficklefae for a face up and after RL keeping me from being able to send him off in a timely manner, I was finally able to ship his head on it's little vacation and I received my boy back yesterday. Yesterday was rainy unfortunately so I wasn't able to take him out for pics but I did manage to get some cute ones today.
So, without further ado, may I introduce Hyde is all his preciousness!

Just look at his sweet face! Isn't he precious!

I knew he was going to one of my favorite face-up artists long before he ever left the house, and I was lucky enough to even see tons of WIP pics (thanks so much for that *huggles*) but none of the pictures compared to what it was like to see him in person, he is so much better than I could've imagined!

More pic spam, unfortunately the camera battery died before I could get any that showed off his beautiful purple lids.

I bought a MH Doll on ebay and she arrived today, and thankfully she's fine, but I was quite worried when I saw that she'd been shipped in a thick envelope. Not even a bubble mailer. I'm not sure how she survived without getting crushed or damaged but it was a very scary couple of minutes until I got her open.
Should I just rate the seller on the fact that the doll arrived safe and sound with good feed back, ding a few stars for the shipping, message the seller, or just do nothing at all? They offered free shipping so I didn't pay for something different than what I got, but just the same it was a bit worrisome and she could've been easily destroyed in transit the way she was packaged.
This is the first time I've ever received an item packaged like this so I don't really know how I should handle it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The Dollhouse / Bit of a Dolly brag
« on: May 05, 2015, 11:39:03 PM »
So yesterday I got dolly mail which I have been obsessively checking tracking on since it shipped last week. (luckily it was from only a state away so the package arrived quickly)

Inside the package was my MIO Isul! I've been interested in Pullips since I got my first Blythe doll but never seen one that really jumped out at me (aside from maybe Tuxedo Mask who is sadly out of my price range atm).
While browsing the web I discovered the MIO series and decided I wanted an Isul since I currently have a only girls and I wanted to add a brother to the mix.

He was actually a lot easier to put together than I was afraid he'd be, though he's only got the clear eyes atm until I can get some printouts done. And he's bald until his first wig arrives from Hong Kong, (he'll probably have many) and he has very little clothing, just some pjs and hat I sewed up rather quickly yesterday and today, but I love him anyway, now if he'd just get around to telling me what his name is.

Sorry for the crappy photos, but I'm not set up for a proper photoshoot atm.

Pony Brag Arena / Little belated brag (photo heavy)
« on: April 05, 2015, 11:12:13 AM »
Last month ((edited because I'm brain dead xD end of February, keep forgetting it's April now)) was my birthday and while it wasn't quite as pony-filled as the year before, I did manage to get a few lovelies for my birthday or just after.
First off Hannah gave me the one G4 I've been dying to get my hands on Photo Finish! I was so excited when I opened the package and saw her!
Here she is with the Petite Blythe that I got from my parents:

For my birthday Hannah also gave me this adorbs Alice in Wonderland doll:

Then I managed to get a decent deal on the G4 Applejack fakie I've been wanting, I've named her Snapple. :)

And last but certainly not least I was able to commission Pinkkittywinks for a beautiful Baby Minty Custom.
It might not be the Greek baby grail of mine, but I gotta say she might be cuter!

Finally my childhood Minty has been reunited with her baby!

Seeing them together has made me realize I need to get Minty a yellow ribbon to match her baby, and now more than ever I need to get a Baby Snuzzle. Why oh why did hasbro give some of the original CPs babies and not the others? *cries*

The Dollhouse / Question for Doll Customizers - Figured out
« on: January 06, 2015, 04:58:32 AM »
So today Hannah and I were able to get some doll stuff (clothing and accessories mostly) thanks to a craigslist ad as well as some dolls. (MH and Bratzilla)
Sadly one of the Bratzillas suffered a haircut from a previous owner, most of it actually looks cute but her bangs were cut right to her scalp. :(
I have hair to use to replace it, but I am wondering how hard it is to remove her head without breaking her neck. I'm afraid to warm her with a hairdryer as we want to keep the hair she still has and just rehair her bangs and I've had hairdryers melt doll/pony hair before. Any suggestions about the best way to go about this?

EDIT: Nevermind, found a youtube video finally that showed the process easily and now the head has been successfully removed from the body. :)

The Dollhouse / Trick or Treat (photo heavy)
« on: October 31, 2014, 05:57:09 PM »
Since Halloween is here, Ambrosia (mine) and Lavender(Hannah66665's) begged to be able to go trick or treating, so I got busy sewing them costumes and candy bags and Hannah made sure they'd be able to fill their bags with candy grabbed the camera.

Customs / Question about customs/rehairs
« on: April 17, 2014, 04:03:57 AM »
A few of my last rehairs seemed to turn out all right until after styling, one of the ones I am currently having issues with is a G2 Sky Skimmer of my sister's who's hair was beyond saving. After her rehair I styled her hair like I do many of my other ponies with just simply wrapping her mane and tail in paper towels and securing them around her neck and back leg respectively. Her tail I think will be a fairly simple fix but her mane wants to separate about half way down. The top half looks fabulous but then the bottom half is still not together quite how it should be plus it's got a rather large space between it and the rest of the mane. I'm tempted to take the easy way out and just add a few more plugs into the "bald spot" but would rather just find a way to keep all her hair together? Any suggestions?

Customs / A few customs by me :) (pics)
« on: April 13, 2014, 07:43:21 PM »
I've played at customizing on and off for a few years now, but it seems I rarely finish any of my customs or at least not to a degree that I am at all happy with them. But I've gotten three finished since 2014 started and I am quite happy with the results.

First up is Baby Blue Moon. She came to me as a poor cancer ridden Baby Moondancer and seeing as I already owned a Baby Moondancer in much better condition I decided to try my hand at customizing her. This little girl was a pain in the butt since during the repaint process I lost all of the holes for her main and had to guesstimate where the plugs went.

Painted with acrylics and rehaired with DollyHair (can't remember the exact three colors anymore) and her cheek mark and symbol were lightly dusted with glitter powder.

Next up is a G1 to G3 Pony.
For my birthday I received a Donkey Pose Minty that was in much better condition than the one I'd found at a thrift store a few years back, so I decided to keep the new one and give the old one a new life. Since Minty is one of my absolute favorite ponies and G1 Minty was the second pony I ever got and I don't know I kind of miss the shamrock symbol I decided to change up my G3 Minty so that she could go back to her roots so to speak.

She was repainted (eyes and symbols) with acrylics and rehaired in Dollyhair White Witch.

Last but not least was a gift for my sister (Hannah66665 here) who has the beginnings of a Cotton Candy army.
This little lady came to me as a baity condition Doodles and I knew at first sight that I could give her a new life as well as make a special preset for a friend.

Pony Corral / Question about BaB Ponies
« on: March 24, 2014, 08:01:09 PM »
So I am eagerly awaiting the new Build-a-Bear ponies so that I can get my hands on Sweetie Belle, not been real interested in passed releases, she's the first one I've ever really really wanted, but I'm curious when they release the new set of ponies if the previous set is discontinued or will those ponies still be available? My sister Hannah really wants a chance to get Fluttershy and we'd figured we'd go together after Sweetie Belle is released, but if the previous set is discontinued she's going to need to grab hers first instead of waiting until I can get mine.

Customs / Issues with Re-Hairing tool
« on: March 16, 2014, 05:41:26 AM »
Up until recently I've always used the wire method for my hairing needs but last month mum bought me a rerooting tool and my first experience with it went pretty well. Since then every time I've tried to use it, once on a G2 and once on a G3 the tool has cut the hair as I'm trying to put it in.
Does anyone else have this problem or have had this problem and found a way around it? I hate to think of the tool going to waste but I really can't afford to have all of my hair get cut to pieces by using it. I've watched tutorial vids and read the instructions that came with mine so I'm pretty sure I'm following directions correctly but more often than not it's making a mess of things.
The tool I'm using is from the ebay seller debi255 and the hair is all from dollyhair in case that makes a difference.

Pony Brag Arena / Bragging for my Bday
« on: February 27, 2014, 10:22:26 AM »
Yesterday was my birthday and I definitely feel like I was spoiled, especially if my previous brags are taken into account as a lot of those items were early birthday presents (mostly from my mom)
But yesterday was the big day and with the help of my adorable nephew who is turning 4 in a few days I opened my packages.
The day started with the adorable Tex shirt posted here:
http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,348828.0.html
Sadly I didn't get a picture of it before it was put on though. xD
My other birthday gifts can be seen here, except for a few packages that are still on the way.
