Title: Help with pricing a custom for selling?
Post by: Eruna on September 27, 2018, 01:32:21 PM
The custom world is so mixed up lately... I have no idea what to charge for this alien queen. Thoughts? Fair price? It’s large- about 11” built of a G3 Rarity.

Not inappropriate at all! Don't worry, the customs forum just isn't as active as it used to be.

If this is your own work (as I believe it is), only you can truly judge what it's worth. People use different methods to figure out their pricing. You can calculate the cost of the materials and choose an hourly rate as your guideline. Or you can set some sort of ranges and decide what it costs for each additional thing.

It's pretty difficult to give an estimate for a unique piece of art, because ultimately it depends on whether you find the right buyer at the right time. Just to throw in some sort of estimate, in my opinion around $200 is the absolute minimum for a fully sculpted custom in the styling size. But I'm not really sure what the market for customs is like these days.

I'm sorry if this is not super helpful, it's just that pricing is quite tricky, and subjective, and sometimes it happens that customs simply won't sell even if they are skillfully made and reasonably priced. That is a gorgeous custom btw! Good luck with your sale. :)

That is helpful, thank you!
I know it is always hard to price original art (yes this is mine) and I am notoriously bad at it lol. Your opinion / thoughts help!

Wow, congrats! She looks so detailed and well designed, so I'm glad to hear someone was able to see her value.
