Pony Corral / Re: "Fable" ponies - do we have a definitive list?
« on: April 22, 2024, 05:10:11 PM »
I have been plumbing the fable depths and I think I have found all the bits and pieces that I was looking for. There are some great threads on here as well as the one you linked. I did have a look in the gallery too :)

It's sad we don't have conversations like that here anymore. The Arena is still lovely, but I miss it :)

Thanks again :D

Thanks folks.

As horrible as the world events are, I find it's possible to ration how much of that news I take in at any one point.

It's harder to get away from the Government's direct and explicit attacks on disabled people.

I really don't want to bring the full rant here, but it is cowardly and disgusting. If they want to save taxpayer's money, maybe stop giving large chunks of it to private enterprise endorsed by colleagues and start thinking about how to fix the NHS and other vital social services. NOt to mention recruitment. If you want disabled people in work, start doing something about accessibility.

There's also no law in this country designating that hate crime against disability exists. Only against race, gender and sexuality. So people can do and say what they like and call it 'free speech', so long as they don't commit another crime like assault.

In London, in one twenty four hour period I overheard two discussions on buses which used derogatory language about autistic people.

I also overheard one autistic lad trying to explain to his friend what a meltdown was and why he was so angry with another friend for falsely accusing him of something. And I really felt for him and his future.

All in one 24 hour period.

I actually never hear comments like that here where I live. It did rather shock me, honestly...it reminded me how so many folk seem to believe we exist on another plane and don't hear/feel comments people make about us. I also don't go around eavesdropping on bus conversations, but it's hard not to hear people yelling or having loud phone conversations.

Off Topic / Re: The Plant Thread
« on: April 21, 2024, 09:11:34 AM »
Some of my summer plants arrived while I was down south and Dad has taken very good care of them all. Everyone is doing fine. The glory lily seedling on my windowsill has put out a second leaf. I am learning from the datura and not putting it in the greenhouse until it is a lot bigger. There are also a bunch of small lewisia plants in the dining room at the moment, which are the ones that arrived while I was away.

My gooseberry plant is covered in flowers and bees. I hope we'll get a crop this year. Bluetits have continued their war against my purple/blue themed plants by beheading the flower stems on my new purple heuchera. The plant is fine, though. No idea what their problem is; they've left the others alone.

We're going to put all last year's begonia tubers into a tub and see what comes up. There should be a mix of colours, it'll be fun to see what we get.

Sorry that Ben is reaching his age, BC. He's had a great innings with you taking care of him.

Ponyfan, that aloe is very pretty. My sister and my parents have aloes (I used to but I have no idea what happened to it). They flower beautifully in the summer.

 ponyfan and  BC, the poor little things. I'm sure you did everything you could for them. All it would take is one bringing a bug into the tank for them all to potentially be affected, but it's so demoralising :(

I don't really know how to articulate my not very trivial complaint without bringing the thread into the murky world of politics. Just, I am fed up with being part of a demographic that our government are targeting, hassling and frankly scapegoating in order to try and secure right-wing voters in the upcoming (whenever, soon please!) election. I am not going into details, but it is, quite frankly, TERRIFYING.

Ah! Thank you. I was looking for that thread but I couldn't find it. With the information I have already I have a rough idea, I will go back over the thread and see what else I can discover :D

Off Topic / Re: What's your weather like?
« on: April 20, 2024, 01:27:27 AM »
It's sunny here right now. It's meant to be a nice weekend. I'm going in the garden later, with any luck :)

Yesterday was also mostly nice. I've been in London/Surrey, and the weather down there was changeable to say the least. There was one thunderstorm and a couple of hailstorms, but also bright sunshine which was lovely to walk in. Not a lot of rain despite the forecast. I managed to walk quite a lot without getting caught in a downpour.

I love walking in the outer zones of London because I can use the bus stops to navigate and not get lost, while still seeing nature :)

I have an excel document. It's helpful for me remembering what G3 I have because I can never remember. I know which G1 I have, but the excel helps me with details like price tags on pony cards and things like that.

It's really up to you what works best.

They are from the same release year, but I would still err on the side of it's been changed over later at some point.

Pony Corral / Re: Versions of Megan, including European
« on: April 19, 2024, 01:46:09 PM »
There are variations on the skirt pattern on the 1986 Megan release over here.

I don't think this is a European release though. I think it is entirely a UK release. I'm 99% sure that Megan on the continent, where she appeared, had the US dress, even if the pony was no-country marked.

The wraparound skirt and jumpsuit, I believe, is unique to the UK 1986 release (1987 wore Country Jamboree).

I think their official release date is May, but I may be wrong about that. It may also be the dock issue that's delaying them stateside.

Back from my trip down south. Can report no new plushes down there, only the first three.
The Toymaster franchise stores in Staines and Putney both had the blind bag figures, so I managed to complete my set (no extras, sorry, limited bag space!)

I have a nice photo of Putney's pony range, here it is...

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

They also had some greater range in G5. I said some, so don't get excited ;) Putney also had Celestials and the 40th anniversary collector ponies.

Epsom had nothing as far as I could see this time. Sutton had Nova and I think the 40th anniversary collector ponies.

All Novas and Polaris etc had the original stripes. No pink ones.

On the non-toymaster front, Fenwicks in Kingston had Nova and a lone plush Firefly in the middle of a doll section. Nowhere else that I saw.

Entertainer in Wimbledon had basically the same as Entertainer here. Which amused me greatly. :)

And TKMaxx somewhere, I forget where now, maybe Epsom? Had a single Rainbow Dash (one with poseable legs?) which must have been there a LONG TIME.

A side-note for anyone unfamiliar with London planning to visit and wanting to hunt ponies.
Spoiler
Most of these stores are in London's outer zones or in Surrey. Just a note if anyone is going down to London anytime soon, Putney has the best selection and is also the easiest to get to from Central London. The store is Kids' Stuff in Putney Exchange on the ground floor. It's very near Putney Bridge tube station on the District Line and several buses stop right outside (including the 14 which goes through central London).

Pony Corral / "Fable" ponies - do we have a definitive list?
« on: April 14, 2024, 04:33:42 AM »
This is really a question for people in Europe, predominately Scandinavia I imagine.

So I'm wondering about the Fable Ponies - or otherwise known as the set released in Europe with the early unicorn and pegasus ponies in. I'm not certain of who this set comprised in total, and I'd like to get that information right. I believe some have been found on cards that do not depict them.

I believe the following ponies were included in the set:

Yellow Moondancer (was white sold as well?)
Green eyed/glitter symbol Gusty
Powder
Firefly
Surprise (?)

After that I am not quite certain.

Can anyone help??

Thanks Ponyfan

UK peeps - if anyone's still looking for them, I found the Basic Fun blind boxes at GAME today! :) They only had two (i.e. not a whole box or anything) but figured I'd pass the info on anyway.

Game? That's unusual :D Thanks for the heads up.

I did see someone posting about finding the long ones somewhere in the US but don't remember where. I hadn't seen the small ones before. Don't think they've appeared here.

Pony Corral / Re: Who wore it best?

I would also go with Buttons for the same reason as PonyBookworm. I love Bangles, though. :) And as a So Soft pony...I think Bangles wears it better. SS Buttons's flocking often gets dingy and loses her beauty beneath the fuzz. Regular Buttons is gorgeous though, and wins overall.

Shockponie, I hope you have good luck finding a better job soon, with a nicer supervisor.

BlackCurtains, I don't see why it's the business of the rental people what you do on your private sales. Is that normal practice over there? I could understand if it were a tax inquiry but not your rental people. Unless that is covered by some other payment scheme?

MintyMagic, that sounds like a nightmare. I'm glad they are honouring the original shipping quote, but the whole thing sounds...so unprofessional to me.
