Advice on piggy hair
« on: October 11, 2023, 05:05:27 AM »
Hello everyone,

I'm (soon) receiving piggy pony mail but some of them are missing a good couple of hair strands. Should I reroot the empty holes where the hair once was or should I leave it?

I don't want to decrease their value but I do want to fix them.

What should I do?

Cheers,

Luke

if you want to replace the plugs, most people use some strands from the tail to get an exact match. for piggies i dont think its necessary though!

Nice! Which piggy is it that has joined your herd?

I second possums suggestion of using a few strands from her tail to fill the missing plugs :bigups:

Thank you. It's piggy minty :). She misses 4 plugs on each side on the back near her body.

oooh I love piggy Minty :newpony:

Minty is pretty hard to match since her hair is more silver/grey than white, so pinching a little from her tail is the way to go to fill in any missing plugs. I have noticed it seems quite common for the piggies to have a few plugs missing at the bottom of their manes, I guess the ends weren't secured off very well.

Thank you for your advice. I have seen that same issue before.

It can be quite difficult to match Nirvana pony hair, both in colour and texture, so pinching a bit from the tail is a good solution.

Yes, the Italy ponies often have the same issue as well with missing plugs from the bottom of the mane.

Hi! I have restored a few piggies (I'm from Spain) and as Pinkkittywinks said, it's always hard to match the hair, even using MLP hair they're differences in shades and tones. I used original my little pony pink hair to re-root the end of the mane of one Loly Pop (Snuzzle) and it was very different.

I use to leave my ponies as they are, though. I prefer to have ponies with small flaws than with completely new hair, specially when talking about nirvanas.

Piggies don't have a very thick tail, so you might not want to use tail hair. If it is Minty (white or brown hair), maybe invest in the search for some original pony hair (white/ off white) and get her restored accordingly. Her price is well worth it.

Thanks for letting me know. I do have ff minty. I could use a bit of her tai I think. Or is that not a good idea?

There was no ff foot Piggy Minty. Only these two: visitors can't see pics , please register or login

The tails seem to be thinner than on regular ponies- you might want to steal
a bit of hair from another pony.

Yes, the piggies all have flat feet, with no markings under them :)
