Anyone seen the new Jem & The Holograms movie trailer?

I didn't know about it until I saw this post!  I didn't have any expectations, but I'm somehow still disappointed!  It feels very Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana-esque.  But I realize I'm not the targeted audience, so... maybe this will make it more appealing to younger generations!  I knew they couldn't bring back 80's glamor Jem with her crazy neon outfits!  I will remember the cartoons fondly and hope the newer versions renew interest in my preferred version.

Ugh.  No Misfits, no Synergy, no HOLOGRAMS! It's like they pulled a generic "coming of age rise to stardom" script out of the nearest pile and went "eh, slap some pink hair on her and call it Jem"

Honestly I do like how they look so I am curious how the dolls will look. I'm still really disappointed that the Misfits aren't going to be in it. If they had kept the Misfits in it would still feel like Jem. I could take Jem being aged down and her aunt (who is still female) taking the role of the adult parts of Jerrica's life but without a rival band it's going to be boring. I mean maybe this is before the Misfits come onto the scene and if they hint towards that at the end it would really improve everything.

The movie previews have been a huge disappointment.  I realize that they are not trying to appeal to fans of classic Jem, but still-  the lack of outrageously colored hair, outfits and drama- and particularly the Misfits!  What were they thinking?

I think of the movie as a fan-fiction, but the lack of certain details (ie Misfits and brightly colored hair) irks me probably more than it should...

I'm not a huge Jem fan, but I can see how disappointing this is.  Why even call it Jem at this point?  They literally could've called it anything else.

Their hair had the bright colors in them. Really the only thing I'm missing is the Misfits tho if they hint at that at the end then I can accept this as a prequel. Jem isn't really Jem without the Misfits at least on the horizon.

Thank you Hollywood for ruining another childhood classic. Where were the Misfits in all of this? Ugh, I'm so glad the comic that came out has been better then this.

Dose anyone remember Dragon Ball Z the movie? Yeah me nether..

Its the same crap they take our favorite shows from when we where kids and just spit out a new outlook on it trying so hard to bring the popularity and marketing and money back.

Plus we get all these directors we have never heard of before, and script wrighters ect..

I guess the lady that worked on JEM in the 80 is not at all happy with this new JEM movie.

I mean come on they where going to use miley from hanna montanna as JEM?! What the what?
Beacuse hanna is a secret pop star so is JEM .. Well that fits.. Wrong.

At least Jerrica was actuelly helping people helping kids and the show was touching base on real life events.

Drugs don't exist in hanna montanna world so no one has to put the message of anti drugs in a episode. That I am aware of anyway..

JEM had anti drug messages and other good messages in it.

Anyway just so freaking sad. I love JEM..

I read from a credible source that the original creator of JEM wasn't even consulted for this movie remake. Red flags up!

I do remember reading somewhere they asked her to help and to make the story canon but she declined, I'm so glad she did

Aubrey Peeples who play Jem in this movie had a previous film role in Sharknado.  (for those who have not heard of that movie.. its good that you didn't).
