Title: I'll be home for Christmas, if only...
Post by: SourdoughStomper on December 02, 2017, 03:04:52 PM
I'm staying home for Christmas. If I could go to mom and dad's, I totally would. :xmas: :xtree: :holiday:

For those of you who are celebrating any upcoming holidays, are you going anywhere to do it? :) :xmas:

Staying right where I am. Haven't moved out yet, so parents'/my house.
We've never traveled Christmas day for holiday parties. Usually the family party is held sometime before New Year's, but after Christmas. It's a nice day to recharge after opening gifts.
I'm totally okay with staying at home and not traveling, probably because I'll be worked to the bone at my retail job the days leading up to it. :relaxed:

Christmas this year is gonna be tough. We did previously have plans to spend it with my MIL and SIL, but things changed and we'd rather not kill their mood, so we're going it alone this year, and they're going to see hubby's brother and sister and their respective kids instead.

I will be at my grandparents house. They host every major holiday. All of my relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts, great uncles, etc) go to my grandparents house very Christmas. I can't wait, it's so nice to see all of my family!

Okay I had to go for the last option. Just because!

Christmas is utter madness for me but i love it.
Thursday I am going to Sweden to see my boyfriend. First time I am going to Sweden before Christmas!!! Usually I go for New Year so all the Christmasness has gone. This year though I get to see it all and we are going to Stockholm (first time to Stockholm for me too) so excited they have a huge tree and big light up moose or deer (not sure which ones they have this year, just saw them on Google)

Then we are both back in the UK on the 19th, Brothers birthday on the 23rd so we do whatever he wants to do. Then to nanas/aunties/cousins houses over 25th-27th (we go between the 3 houses as they are walking distance from each other)

Then to see rest of the family and New Year. My little baby cousins first Christmas this year can't wait to see her again she is adorable. I know she will love this time of year she is so giggly

So utter madness running here there and everywhere to see everyone but I'm so excited this year because of spending the Sweden Christmas magic with my boyfriend & seeing my baby cousin at this time of year.

We're staying home. My hubby has to work and my family lives far away. By now I'm used to it.

Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day - at my parents (they are only 15 minutes drive away) as I am in charge of cooking dinner on those days! It's a labour of love, though.

They also have a log fire that just *makes* Christmas for me = cosy sit-downs after eating / gift opening, cracking walnuts and throwing the shells into the fire.

For the two days after Boxing Day, we are spending time at the in-laws. The whole of my husband's side of the family clan converge into one house of happy chaos  :freak: :cheer:   plus we get a day to walk by the beach + the nearby historic gardens.  :)

We work the weekend before Christmas. My husband is working 16 hours on the 24th. So on Christmas day we will sleep in. His daughters will come over later that day to our house. Then on the 26th my parents will be coming out to our house. Other then that I don't know. We work in the health field and have to work every other holiday, so this year was have Christmas off! Next year we both will be working! :( Will have to work New Years so nothing special there, sleep and work.

We have booked a car and will be driving to my sister on christmas, and then walk to dad where we will watch Donald Duck, eat dinner and exchange gifts. I so hope dad will stay sober.. I would hate for us to drive 1,5 hours just to be miserable. We'll be driving home on christmasday as I work boxingday.

Same as you I'm staying right where I am. Knowing me I'll be in the living room eating my Christmas dinner (watching Scrooge the musical on telly if it's on).

Just hope that I won't wake up at 2:59 in the morning feeling low like last time (I'm a diabetic).

I voted for parents' house though technically speaking that is also home, because my London home is where I am for university and I don't have a house of my own as such ;) So I will be going home to family and sister will be doing the same. I think her partner is spending Christmas with his relatives but is coming to us for New Year. Sister also has a stretch of days off this year which is nice for her, and unusual. And a lot of this year's festive occasions haven't been spent together - I was in Japan for my birthday, Mother's Day and Easter, and then something else happened around Dad's birthday so it will be nice. It's been a really busy and crazy year, some very high points and some very low ones, so to see it out as a family seems the best option ;)

I have to teach right after Christmas, though, so at least some of my holiday is going to be spend reading :/

Option 12! Option 12!! XD

In all seriousness, not sure yet. Either stay at home or go to my aunt's house.. we usually do the latter but not sure what's happening this year, heh. We'll see.

Me and Sis still live with my Dad so we're staying put. Our brother will be coming home Boxing Day as his wife is working then we'll have a meal with both of them a couple of days later. My Aunt usually comes over for Christmas lunch but she's currently in hospital and I'm not sure she's up to leaving her house if she's been released anyway.

I will be spending the holidays with my girlfriend and staying in her apartment with our dogs, most likely watching some anime and eating too much candy.

I wish we could go home to California/Nevada to spend Christmas with our families but its just not in any way possible. We'll be stuck in Idaho D:

Luckily some friends moved up here recently so we'll be spending Christmas with them. It should still be fun and everything, just not quite what we really want it to be.

I plan on going home to spend time with my parents and dogs over winter break, yes. I did it last year. To be honest, I like my personal time, but I also realize that every day with my parents and dogs are to be cherished (we just lost another dog a week ago  )... Plus, when I'm alone I don't eat well and I really need to be eating better because my digestive system is killing me right now.

I didn't vote since we can only chose one option. I thought I should reply instead. Ever since our parents' divorce, my sister and I always have 4 Christmases. We spend Christmas Eve morning at my dad's house, we have breakfast and open gifts by the tree. We spend Christmas Eve night at my mom's parents house with aunts, uncles, and cousins from my mom's side of the family, my uncle dresses as Santa and hands out the gifts and we have Christmas Eve dinner. We spend Christmas Day morning home with our mom, opening presents under the tree. And we spend Christmas Day night at my dad's parents house with aunts, uncles, and cousins from my dad's side of the family, we exchange gifts and have Christmas dinner.

I said at the In-Laws' place because that is where we will be spending Christmas, and probably New Year as it is at the beach. And, you know - kids. But we are also going away to the bush as a group of friends with our kids before that and will spend some time at home too. I just adore Christmas time!!

Xmas eve at my in-laws' (they live a 5min walk from us, haha), Xmas day or boxing day my parents will be visiting us for xmas dinner :) So we'll mostly be home, but also at in-laws'... but I voted option 12 ;)

It's hard for me to get away from home for the holidays. Lately we've been renting out a pair of furnished rooms at our apartment complex (my brother in law is allergic to our cats) and setting up a Christmas there. My mum and dad and lil brother will come down from Eau Claire and my sister and her husband from Duluth and we'll spend a couple nights together. In the past we've done hotel rooms, but this is cheaper, and much nicer. And I can move all my Christmas decorations from my apartment over there and make it nice and homey.

I'd love to have another Christmas with my husband's family but that involves a plane trip to England, so... that's a little hard to make happen.

Option 12 because we have so many celebrations and obligations that none of the other options fit. Five different places to go. All close to home, but still ... I’m tired just thinking about it. Whew! I’m so glad when Christmas is over.

I'll be home for Christmas because I'll be 8 months pregnant by then and there's no way I'm taking a 13 hour car ride to see my parents when I'm this big.

In my case I'll be the 24th with my family, then on the 25th after a 2 hours drive with my family in law. The 31st with my family in law and the 1st with my family... And then, on the 6th with my family. Non stop christmas going here and there. Not loving it.

I'll be staying home this Christmas as usual. I prefer staying home because it's not a big ordeal with travel and having to be around a bunch of people.

With my friend and her family who are also my made family..so family...Anyways, her parents are truckers so when they get off the road varies. So actually option 12 works because we just don't know right now. Not in a bad way just crazy busy. Once they come in it's Christmas 2.0 and if it's close enough to NYE that's tossed in at the same time. She has two cousins coming in from out of state so they'll be included. There's a ton of cooking and prep but it's a lot of fun.
