returning to collecting

I am returning to collecting. i LOVED collecting years ago... things got insane, kids were little, money was tight.... then the roof leaked.... ponies got ruined, the room got ruined...... long story short...

I want to clean up what is left of my old collection, pick out the good, trash the others and start again.... i collect G1 and also have a ton of G3 i am considering growing that collection too.

I have a whole shelving unit ready and am about to search for advice on cleaning what I have.... its overwhelming as some of them are total messes (probably goners) .... BUT i am excited to restart, jump back into my hobby that i use to adore.

I am from the USA, a mom of 5 (boy 26, boy 20, girl 18, girl 15, and boy 14 this week). i work outside the home as a nurse in long term care.
