Title: What's your favorite pizza?
Post by: BlackCurtains on October 18, 2020, 08:20:26 PM
I love Pizza Hut but I'm outside their delivery zone :( I really wanted some pizza so I tried Domino's for the first time in a very long time. I hated Domino's but decided to give them another try since it's been so long. It wasn't bad. The pan pizza is actually quite nice. I just wish it came in a large size. Next time I want to try the Brooklyn crust. Little Caesars is pretty decent for 5 bucks. As far as any others, I've had Papa John's in the past, but they're on my boycott list. We have Jet's pizza here, but I've never tried it, and they also don't deliver to me.

For frozen pizzas my favorite is Red Baron. It's been my favorite since I was a kid. I love the sauce and crust. I always get the 4 cheese classic or 5 cheese brick oven and add my own toppings and extra cheese. Yum. If those are sold out or not available, my next choice is Freschetta or good ol' Tombstone. I think DiGiorno is over priced and I hate the dough, it's too sweet. I've wanted to try Screamin' Sicilian Wisconsin cheese pizza, it's got chucks of mozzarella on it but it's another pricey one and what if I hate it?

I've made homemade pizza before when you could still buy frozen bread dough from the bakery. All the premade pizza doughs I've tried I didn't like, so I would get french bread rolls and proof them on the counter, haha. Then smash 'em into pizza dough. It's been a really long time since I did that though.

Now, vegetable pizza I've made more recently. I use Pillsbury crescent roll dough and dry ranch dressing seasoning mixed with sour cream as the "sauce". Then top it with all the veggies! Shredded carrots make a fun "cheese" :P It's delicious and refreshing. Oh, you only cook the dough... not the whole pizza, the veggies are raw.

What's your favorite? What kinds of pizza do you have where you live? :)  :yummy:  :pizza:

Ooh, yes, pizza is fantastic! :D My favourite is Iceland's own brand thin crust smoky barbeque vegetable pizza, it's absolutely lush with some spicy potato wedges on the side. We also have Domino's and Pizza Hut in town, but I'm avoiding both of those because one of them made me really ill and I can't remember which of them is the culprit. It's also on my to-do list to learn how to do homemade pizza as well, it looks like it'd be good fun and it'd be nice to be able to try different combinations of toppings. :yummy:

Ohh I love me some good pizza!
We recently got Lou Malnatis pizza in my area and it’s already BY FAR some of my favorite pizza I’ve had. Im. It often a pizza critic since I feel they’re mostly the same, but the quality in their pizza is undeniable. Unfortunately, they are kinda far from me. It’s worth the drive sometimes though! A close number two is a local place called Spinatos  that has a really good spinach and tomato pizza. Their sauce is really sweet, it almost tastes like a candy. A couple other places I really like are Barros pizza and Little Ceasers is good if you need lots of pizza for cheap. Their deep dish is really good actually!

There's a place down the road from me which sells pizza & is on Just Eat (UK online order & delivery service), so I can get one delivered. My fave from there is Earth friendly (a pizza with vegetarian toppings) & I add what few veggies aren't already on it to the toppings. You can make your own pizzas as well, by selecting up to ten different toppings. It's a great place & its owner is friendly & an overall decent person.

I think my fave pizza is  Pizza Margherita, there was a local pizza place not far from where I live that had it but since they moved I haven’t gone back and had any in a long time  the only other places are the chains like dominos or Pizza Hut and they don’t have it . We had little ceasers stuffed crust two days ago because we just wanted some take out and it had been months since I’ve had any takeout, just plain cheese with stuffed crust cause  that’s the only pizza my daughter eats.

That name is hilarious!

My favorite company is Little Caesar's. My favorite kind is pepperoni and mushroom, but I also like Hawaiian.

As for an actual answer, Domino's actually pretty good here in my country (as far as I know). I heard there's a pretty good mom & pop's pizzeria at a town next to mine, and I'd like to try, but in current circumstances... I wonder if I can get their phone number and place an order for delivery, tho.

As for specific pizzas, I like them with thick, almost bread-like crust, not too cheesy (I find melty, stringy cheese too gross  :X) and with chicken, mushroom and onion  :P

We usually order from Panago here in our house. My favourite topping is pepperoni. Not too cheesy, not too pepperoni but just right.

At all my DnD groups meetups, we order pizza usually. And when the pizza comes we always play this until everybody is finished. It’s funny! We will be in the middle of combat or a super intense moment and then...pizza time! And the music starts to play!

I love pizza ! ( a little too much.) I often get the vegan pizzas from Papa John's (UK.) How come they are on your boycott list? Have I missed some controversy ?

Home made pizza is always fun - I like loads of cheese, bbq sauce, pineapple ;) and mushrooms !

I love pizza with as much meat as possible, but I also like Hawaiian.

The founder and CEO (Papa John himself) made some racist remarks during an interview. He stepped down as CEO and has nothing to do with the company anymore, but I still can't bring myself to buy from them.

Your icon is glorious and I give you 5/5 dashies.

I used to have Pizza Hut because of stuffed crust pizzas, but my favorite fresh was MOD PIZZA! They're so good, maybe it's just a GenZ/LateMillenial thing with made-to-order stuff, but they really had something good goin' on. I loved Digornos for frozen stuff and could eat a half a large pizza after classes.
Now, I'm really dissapointed with the options for frozen gluten free pizzas. I really like me a thick crust and everything is THIN. I also don't care for cauliflower crust either. The best sub I've found is the Bobs Red Mill GF pizza crust mix. You sort of have to paint it on a tray but freedom to add as much cheese and 'noni as I want is always a great thing, since I like it very heavy on the toppings.
My go-to is pepperoni all over the place (turkey is my favorite kind but anything will do), mushrooms, peppers, and tons of cheese. And more cheese. Stuffed crust. Buffalo sauce!! It's a double-whammy for my reflux but it really adds something. I've not had pineapple on pizza since it usually eats up my mouth too much, but I am interested and would love to try it one day.

Same! I've had it from lots of different restaurants. So good.  I don't have a favorite pizza place.  Just as long as it's not too greasy and they have a thin crust option, I'm happy.

I usually get pizza from local places. Don’t want to reveal any names for privacy reasons. As for what kind, I just eat plain cheese.

Growing up an hour's drive from Chicago, I always loved getting Uno's or Lou Malnati's pizza...I remember the wait times for the Uno's downtown could be a couple of hours on a weekend night, but it was so worth it! My husband hates that kind of pizza though, so I hardly ever get to have it, even though they've expanded all over the country now.

I grew up in an area that had a huge Italian influence, and the kind of pizza from our local joints that has lots of spice, gobs of cheese, and is cut in squares was always very popular with people in my teenage years/early 20's. I was always a bit grossed out by it, especially seeing it the next day all congealed on the counter after a college party, and I much preferred generic stuff like Pizza Hut/Papa John's, etc. However, after living out in the western US for a few years in a city with very little culture, I was actually grateful to move home and have some of the old Italian pizza that was once the bane of my youth. Like they say...absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Oh, and Jett's has really good pizza...I saw someone mention that upthread somewhere. My husband actually delivered for them as a moonlight gig when we first got married and were living in Michigan; I used to love when he would bring mistakes home! We don't have a Jett's here, sadly.

home made pizza's  cos we are fussy LOL.
it all started because i was gluten free and on a tight budget and sick of our local ones.
we used to get either domino's or pizza hut but they are terribly made in my area in NZ, real bad, topping scattered randomly and slices cut unevenly, some times over cooked and too much crust  :yucky:
Hell Pizza is real good but too far away. there is a local one called beach pizza, really super delicious but too pricey for us so it's a once in a while treat plus we don't usually do take out/ take away food.
we usually get a pepperoni for daughter, Hawaiian for son, then meat lovers for us  but now we just make our own and save lots of money doing so also get what we want.

our home made one's do change from time to time but there has to be at least one pizza with those stinky little fishy's we love so much  anchovies and one with Jalapenos  :satisfied:  but there usually is a margherita, pepperoni, a bbq Hawaiian, seafood or a chicken and bacon, their smaller then your usual  large base and very thin and a little crispy so one each is ample

sorry for going on, you can see its one of my fav food  :P

I just had the most delicious of pizzas tonight! We have a local chain called Mazzio's which was related to a long-gone business called Ken's. For some number of years now (who knows, a decade or more now) Mazzio's has been selling a separate line of pizza in the style of Ken's. It's really good when made right. Mazzio's actual pizza has sauce that tastes like straight-up ketchup, but the Ken's style is a little more spicy and much, much better.

I'm super picky with my pizza, though. It has to be made just right. I've had a Ken's style pizza order that was nasty and I couldn't eat it at all. Lol. With that said, I think any of the chains I know of (Pizza Hut, Little Caesar's, etc.) can be great but can also be meh.

I ate Little Caesar's a lot before the pandemic, because it was nice and cheap. However, Little Ceasars doesn't have a drive-up option, meaning you have to go inside to get the pizza, and I'm not doing that. I miss it. (Ordering it for delivery where I live is ridiculously overpriced. You'd end up paying what you'd pay for a Mazzio's, Pizza Hut, etc. delivery. I tried it once.)

I can't stand the local Pizza Hut's pizza, but when I lived in another area of my state for college, the Pizza Hut there was really good and I actually ordered almost exclusively from them the entirety I was there.

I've warmed up a lot to Dominoes after having it a few more times (it's the only place that delivers) and it's the best when it's made by a dude named Paul. The online tracker tells you who is making your stuff. I just used my points to get a free pizza :) It will be my last for a while since I'm trying to eat better.

Pizza Hut or homemade on my end--though if I'm visiting my fiance we get from a local place near them. I like Hawaiian pizza as well as meat lover's, but my one true love is shrimp+black olive pizza... might sound gross to others but it's delightful to me! :lovey:

Simple home-made dough that you can freeze into balls and take one out to defrost overnight, then layer with a simple tomato sauce (sieved, herb & garlic seasoned microwaved tomatoes) then add blobs of green basil pesto & cheese; simplicity & perfection!

I cooked one on my lidded BBQ & the smoked flavour was amazing!

Budget: Aldi do a frozen stonebaked one for 1.39. It's actually decent!

Restaurant on the high street: good old Pizza Express. I like the thin base ones.  :)

Pizza when I was in Italy - goes without saying, quality!

I've been making my own lately because takeout/delivery is too high in sodium.

I do use store bought dough but i want to start making my own. i just make such a mess every time i make any dough :(

I do like making my own though because i can add a lot of toppings. My favorite is pepperoni, Canadian bacon, onions, green bell peppers, olives, spinach, feta and jalapenos. Sometimes i add anchovies. I use a mix of strained tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. i like the chunkier tomatoes.  I make one for me and one for my husband with lower sodium toppings.

I also like more simple toppings. Pepperoni and cheese, Margharita...  I can't really think of a popular set of toppings i don't like.

And yes pizza in Italy is the best! One day i'll visit again...

Harmonie, we have a Mazzio's in my town, so I wondered if maybe you were in the southern US.  I went and looked at a Mazzio's location map, and LOL, almost every Mazzios location is west of the Mississippi, and there's this poor lonely one all by itself in Georgia.  I was not aware of that, and this store is probably older than I am.  I have fond memories of eating there as a kid in the 80's when it was Kens, and playing Pac-Man and playing with the Juke Box.

As for favorite pizza, I'm a pepperoni and cheese guy.  But I like several different cheeses on it.  I will at times get sausage.

A new chain popping up in my area the last few years is Marco's.  I like their Pepperoni Magnifico pizza.

When I was younger I disliked Dominoes, but years back when they changed their recipes, I now like them.

I liked a chain called Johnny's New York pizza, especially for their garlic knots, but they are all closing near me.

Homemade, I like Chef Boyardee kits.  It has a can of sauce and a bag of dough mix.  Add water, let dough rise 20 minutes, then top with the sauce and add your own toppings.

I think I'll have a pizza on my next cheat day. I ordered the Mediterranean Vegetable sandwich from Dominos last week. It was my first time trying banana peppers. They're yummy! I should get them on my next pizza.

I LOVE veggie pizza, the cold kind you make, with cream cheese and tiny fresh veggies.  :dribble: I also love fruit pizza,  sugar cookie crust, greek yogurt, fresh fruit...

I have fallen out of love with traditional pizza. (Veggies for toppings are my favorite though.) Especially over the years, I have consumed A LOT of it. More than the average bear. I live in an area where we make Jack's, Orv's, Tombstone, Lozza Mozza to name a few. You used to be able to get 10 pizzas for $10.
Now that pizzas average $7-10 each they've lost their luster.

Yeah, I live in the South, unfortunately. In fact, we have the most Mazzio's by far in my state. We do plan on moving (hopefully to the Northeast) and it's just now dawning on me that there would be no Mazzio's and I wouldn't be able to have Ken's pizza anymore.  :( Oh well.

I was born in the late 80s, so I don't have such memories. I believe I have a memory of seeing a Ken's, though. I know there was one pretty close to where I live that was replaced by an Arby's and I can bring up a picture of what it looked like. Whether or not that is a true memory, I do not know. lol

My favourite is my partner's home-made pizza; we usually have it with mushrooms and mozzarella. For frozen pizza, I also like mushroom, or sometimes I just get a plain margherita and add extra veggies, preferrably slices of yellow bell pepper, and extra cheese. Super yummy!

The beauty of pizzas - adding more toppings! I always have a small tin of anchovies in case my husband gets bored of simple cheese & tomato!

The ultimate "taste of Italy" cliché combo is adding anchovies, capers & olives, torn basil leaves with a drizzle of olive oil & parmesan shavings, it tastes very similar to a delicious combo that they used to serve at Pizza Express a few years ago. Ooh, now you're making me hungry!!

Pizza is my favorite food.  I could probably eat it everyday and not get sick of it. I live in Minneapolis Minnesota but during the pandemic my mom and I have been isolating at our lake home in rural Wisconsin.  I miss delivery pizza but we are able to get Papa Murphy's pizza which is probably my favorite.  I like the Pepperoni Delite with pineapple.  Pepperoni and pineapple are my usual toppings.  They also have a Veggie Delite pizza with white sauce that is very tasty, and I feel like I am being more healthy when I eat it. Other pizza brands I enjoy are Punch Pizza, Red Savoy and Davanni's.
