aw, I was half-hoping these'd be like the Funko vinyl figures they made a few years back, not POPs. still, how exciting :O Although, no Blue Belle??

Excited that my fave CC is getting a keyring though, I love the keyring size but they've never released a char I like in that series before... definitely picking that up.

Cries as I give Funko my money, they rip the $50 out of my hand. They could at least make a Butterscotch keychain!
I am curious to see how these will look.

I hate funko pops with a passion so I won't be getting any of these creepy things. And what is with the Golden Girls merch boom? I saw Golden Girl socks of all things. I like em, but not enough to buy stuff. Woulda been interested in Candy Land stuff if they were normal.

I don't understand the sudden explosion of Golden Girls stuff. Feels like every other cartoon is parodying them lately, too. Weird.

I don't get the POPS at all (I personally hate the look).  I guess if you collect those and pony stuff it's good.

Funko, however, single-highhandedly destroyed the emerging vinyl artist market in the US and for that I will never give them a CENT (fortunately the Japanese market still thrives).  They also produce incredibly sub-par work (compare Funko figures to those from Tokidoki - you'll almost never see registration issues, seams, and misspainting on the Tokidoki figures, when they're abundant on Funko figures.)

I am more irritated by the stupid comment about 'bronies' coming out for these.
Bronies are more likely to be fuming over it as it's not the M6.

I'm not really interested in funko pony stuff but it's interesting the retro is rolling on.

I like Funko Pops but  it's been a while since I've seen any that were must haves.  My budget has been limited lately so I've had to really watch my spending.  I hope these look nice.  I wasn't a fan of those cupcake head Funko ponies that were out a few years ago.

The Candyland ones also sound interesting.  Queen Frostine was always my favorite character on the board.

It's neat to see more retro pony stuff, but that's about it. I don't like Pops and I'm sick of seeing the Collector Pose ponies get shoved into everything. Or, the "Original Mane Six" as Hasbro likes to call them.

I get that they're the originals, but is it just me, or is it an unpopular choice...? Why don't they ever make stuff for ponies people actually want to see, like Firefly, Twilight, Applejack, etc? These characters are more beloved by collectors and even bronies know about them. It's a win/win. Yes I know things like the Loyal Subjects vinyls exist that have variety, but it's so weird that they keep coming back to these ponies that the mainstream doesn't care for instead of Firefly or something.

That said... they could have at least included Butterscotch. :lookround: She's the only one I really care about in this set. Maybe Snuzzle.

Firefly got:
Loyal Subjects Firefly
Hallmark Ornament Firefly
Mini MLP and Book Firefly
Basic Fun Firefly

Applejack got
Loyal Subjects Applejack
Basic Fun Applejack, Stranger Things Applejack and G3 Applejack
While the retro mane six AJ looks a lot like RaMC AJ...if she only had her symbol on one side.

Twilight got:
Basic Fun Twilight
SDCC 2019 Twilight

I'd hardly say they've gotten nothing.

I really dislike funko pop figures, kind of passionately, but I'm a simple woman: I see Minty, I want Minty.
Not gonna go actively searching for these, but if I do come across the Minty, I might just pick her up. :silly: Fun seeing more g1 stuff coming out :)But yes, where's Blue Belle?

Oh, look at that, another incomplete set :’) what is it with Funko and making all but 1 or 2 of a set of characters? We never did get Applejack or Rarity, and now we’re not getting Bluebell. If they’d made all 6 I’d get em, but as it is I’ll be skipping these unless I cave and start a Snuzzle army like I’ve been resisting temptation over for years.

I agree with Featherwurm's posting. Vinyl Toys had so much potential!
I think it just feels like the original six get so much focus because, like, the 25th anns, the 35th anns, the world's smallest, the squishy things...

-slams fists- I. Don’t. Have. Money!!!

Yeah- parroting others here. But I’m a little disappointed that they aren’t the full sized vinyl figures like the past g4 ponies came in. Not really a fan of Pops, though admittedly I do have some Care bear Pops and MLP pocket pops. I would just much rather have a more realistic vinyl figure of the ponies

They DID include Butterscotch, it's Blue Belle that's missing.

Meh, I don't like pops and I don't like how the fim pops looked so I'm sure these will basically look the same. However I will get a minty.

The year 1 ponies get put on everything (it's not that Firefly twilight and Applejack get absolute zero it's that they get much less compared to the first year set) They are not my favorites by a long shot so I'd love to see some other well known ponies get used as often

but I want to give some of my money to it so Hasbro will continue licensing out G1 ponies for more merch. This has come up in other threads how fans of other franchises will support releases so they can get more whereas we G1 collectors often turn away if it's not something that suits our taste

considering i have exactly one funko pop from years ago, and am not a fan of them now, i'll definitely be passing on these. just not a huge fan of the style, and i'd rather use my display space for things i am not 'meh' about.

Typical Funko and their incomplete sets. But nice to see the retro ponies are still getting milked. Looks like Hasbro treats them a bit like the Mane Six now. I still think Gusty, Fizzy, Firefly and friends would be better but I am not gonna poo-poo anything G1 related :P

I admit that I get really tired of this set being the posterchild 'G1 m6'.

I also think that if they want to go down that line, it ought to be the six that inspired the characters from FIM, because obviously they are the basis that the M6 were allegedly based on (hasbro even said so on their retro page a while back, even though they didn't give images?)

...But I've never been a fan of the collector set, so I am biased. It's just so irrelevant over here, but I know it has much more significance in the US.

Mind you I did like the little mashem ponies...I'm still missing a couple of those.

The problem about pony characters that are beloved to collectors is also very regional and subjective.

I suppose the argument with the collector ponies is that they were at least the first.

very good point! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of POPs, but I am happy to see more G1 retro stuff. And I did like the original G4 POP molds, just hated the soulless black eyes.

(Who was it on here that repainted the eyes on some of their POP ponies? Those looked great.)

Interesting that they are called POP Vinyls, and not just POP like other are listed as. I wonder if these are indeed the POPs or the Vinyls? Happy to see Funko making more ponies though either way! I wish they would finish Nightmare Moon and Chrysalis, the sparkly glitter versions would have been amazing too..

Would be nice if someone threw retro MPP our way.
(And certain Japanese pones)
