It still cracks me up that my parents tell me stories Lawson's chip dip and chip chop ham... or -- *point when driving* this was lawson's... back in my day.. blah blah blah. and now Lawson's is a place people can get Sailor Moon. :I If only there still were some in the states, with all the Japanese goods.

And I was simply stating that it doesn't take one to be a "horse girl" to have this opinion :O
Why? It's the popular opinion. Seems pushy. eta -- just saying, Wardah stated that she doesn't feel a connection to horses, and that is a reason she doesn't mind if it's less equine. Really, that should stand without needing to say that people who don't have a connection to horses have the popular opinion of wanting their mlp to read more equine. The opposite exists too -- I had a pony. So I'll call myself a horse girl (as a kid -- there's no way I want to deal with the maintenance of one, otherwise I'd consider owning one as an adult). And I'm cool with stylized.

More g3s than Star Catcher have different coloured wings though, but it's an airbrushed gradient. Then there are Hear Bright and Star Flight that have the big flappy wings.
G1 Dream Beauties have wings in a different colour (and gradient) than their bodies, and the g2 "pegasi" have clip-on wings. There are lots of ponies with different wings than body colour, so I really don't see the issue with that. ^^'
Maybe it's because she's young and has baby down or something?
But what does it matter if G3 toys had colored wings? Are we just saying "G3 did it first". And are you just talking about toys? Was it a defining element for any animated character? because -- star catcher again is the one I know where some of the art was shown with blue wings, but the animation was white wings. Toys were both. Maybe she had a book with blue wings, I don't know. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginJust talking about painting details on a toy seems not comparable. Again, like, I just want to look at this pony for what she is. Comparisons seem not relevant at this time, unless we are talking about a character rather than toys. She has white wings. It stands out. Maybe for no reason. Maybe she has a reason. More to learn about it later.

All pony toys felt "stylized" to me -- one way or another.
Short, chunky legs, shortened faces.. that's what separated a horse toy from g1 MLP. If I wanted a horse toy, then I would choose a horse toy.

The differently colored wing thing is definitely weird. I was initially thinking it was going to be the case with all pegasi in G5, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the two guard pegasi from that movie screenshot we have, so maybe it is just her? It's definitely very strange. I really hope we see a toy of her soon, I'm curious how they're going to do the differently colored wing thing with the toys. Whether they'll be directly connected to her body and they'll just be painted, or if they'll do something similar to what they did with some later G4s and the G4.5 pegasi where the wings are separate and can be moved around a ball joint (just like the G4.5 heads), and then they just use a different plastic color for the wings rather than paint them.

I only see animation screenshots with white wings.. and toys with or blue wings. If the giant blue wings came first, then I just see that as a gimmick, and nothing about character design. I am not sure g3 relevant, at least it's not to me. The thing to me is visually -- those very much stand out. So I find it a bit odd. If it's just a part of the design, because her body will have more white gradient, then maybe it doesn't look as odd. And even if they are just pure white just because, I think they still look fine. I don't think negatively about them. They just stand out to me.

I corrected myself. I saw swablu and thought she was talking about the white pegasus with blue wings. u_u; I'm embarrassed, so maybe unquote so people don't go on about it. If not, that's fine. They also don't look like swablu's wings. Swablu has wings that look like clouds. The only thing odd about these wings are they aren't the same color as her body... and maybe she has a back story about that? visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAlso, I would like to add her cutie mark was also on that banner... just like izzy's and sunny's. visitors can't see pics , please register or login

The pink Pegasus shown on the bedset looks like she has swablu wings hastily drawn on. Its interesting that she hasn't yet made an appearance in the screen shots or toys. Maybe she's just a minor or secondary char?
I mean there is a lot of information that hasn't been shared. We haven't even seen our flying pom yet. Or the white pegasus... (I misunderstood what we are talking about, so major edit here)

Reserving judgement. Only thing I will say is that I despise the link to G4, like Hasbro think MLP cannot operate without its FIM crutch any more. It would do better to write a completely new story without the baggage of the past. But originality is a dead art.
I agree with you, that this premise can hold up without hard ties to FiM. Tales had no problem and did not need to cling to N Friends like a leech.
I don't think it's using it as a crutch. I think it's happening because FiM still is on a lot of streaming sites. It's just a location. It's characters and plot that make up a story.

I guess I'm the odd one out, because I like the name Hitch Trailblazer...
Trailblazer, as in "blazing a trail" as a the first boy to make it to the main cast, and "Hitch" as in "hitch a ride on the trail being blazed"
I hope that made sense to someone else?

I feel like I need a nice G5 friendly place to read news.
I do have a Discord server. It can get a little busy at times but you can always just mute everything but the news and announcements channel, it's not just me uploading news so we should be pretty timely. 
Oh, and I try to keep "G5MLP" on Instagram up to date but it's only me there, so if I miss anything at night it might be a few hours behind.
yessss, thank you It's interesting the hate on the names, because people already hated how names were evolving for the past 2 gens. I feel like it's kind of a neat change, because I really didn't like how names were evolving -- where it was just kind of two fluffywords put together. I actually love the last names, and they feel pony-ish to me. I feel kinda meh (but not OMG HATE) on Izzy's + Hitch's name because they feel less pony-ish. But I DO like Sunny and Zipp, because that /DOES/ feel pony-ish to me. I am also just loving 1-2 syllable names.

So mad.
I'm working on an article which is highlighting the struggles of working moms, and the blur between work/home balance due to the pandemic.... and I've been forced to work on my vacation days, and most likely the day I took off to tend to my child's medical needs.
Let alone that's not my job to work on internal articles. .. but "goals" to do "teamwork with other departments".
I sure am one of those 1 in 4 women who just want to quit. dang.. u_u many tears are going to be had over the next week.

Hopefully there will be lots of characters and not just 3 or 4 ad naseum. Kids don't like buying a bajillion of the same thing.
