Pony Corral / Re: Sunfading... with a UV lamp!
« on: April 06, 2020, 02:32:27 PM »
Wow, this is interesting - I'm looking forward to see the results!
I have zero experience with artificial UV (never been to a solarium or had my nails done), but if it omits UVA rays, in theory it should work. While UVB is often considered the be the worse out of these two rays because of its immediately visible effects (sunburn), on the long run it is UVA that is worse - it does not burn your skin, but this is what is causing the skin to age (+also skin cancer), and objects to fade (which is exactly what you need for sunfading). Frickin UVA passes through windows (thus while you cannot get sunburn through the window, objects exposed to a lot of natural light in the window - like ponies :) - will fade) and even clouds, so it is there, affecting your skin even on cloudy days.
Do you have any way to find it out what type of UV comes out of the lamp? Maybe the reason why it did not work for some people  was because it is not omitting the right type of UV?

Pony Corral / Re: The Fakie Appreciation Thread! Show us yer Fakies!
« on: April 06, 2020, 02:19:43 PM »
TOTSIES! Those sweet but a bit cunning smiles and expressions - I love them so much! ^.^ That blue one looks especially adorable! I hope you'll be able to find one maycrestmom!

I also adore that lying down fakie - I don't think I've ever seen one like this before, but I'd definitely pick it up if I came across one somewhere  :inlove:

I've already posted these in another thread, but as this is a fakie thread, I thought I'll post them here as well. She's my only fakie and I think she's adorable.

She is adorable indeed! I also have a few of these sitting Lanard fakies (and fakies of the fakies), the pose makes them especially special to me, but I also love Lanards in general, the original, standing ones included (I have two standing ones from my childhood, and one of them was one of my favourite ponies as a kid)... Their expressions and proportions are very cute, and I think they are also among the more creative fakies, I find it hard to label them as MLP knockoffs.

if my mind is plagued by claustro-anxiety, the creative part is among the first to shut down, and I either can't do such stuff, or simply don't enjoy them (in which case why would I do them...). I was hoping the extra time I get by not having to get ready and commute to work will let me finish the tons of creative projects I have going on, but instead I more and more often find myself eiter spending the time staring in front of myself like a zombie, or feeling bored, not having the will or the right mindset to do anyting out of the thousands of things I'd normally love to have time for on a normal day

I can completely identify with this and I'm also struggling. I think I need to do some gardening or an exercise vid to keep my body going to keep my mind going...

Oh yes, I can relate. I've decided gardening is the best I can do, as I really need the fresh air and in our garden, weeds sprout like - well, weeds.

I still haven't brought myself to exercise on our elliptical trainer though...
Sending virtual hugs to both of you! I hope you can find some peace of mind with the help of nature - it does help me a lot now. Sadly I don't have a garden (I live in the city centre, and normally I love it, as I can sneak away to nature within 30 mins in any direction. With public transport that is - I don't have a car, no use for one here - and that should be avoided now...), but I do have a lot of houseplants, and the number of plants in the flat has just grown significantly in the past week, as a lot of seeds I planted have sprouted! :inlove: I received a bunch of seeds (chili peppers, tomatoes, luffa/loofah) back in February, which (with the exception of the chilies) I plan to rehome in the in-laws' garden - whenever that can happen in the current situation... Right now I am greatly enjoying checking which pots will contain freshly-sprouted babies the next morning, and also observing how the already sprouted ones are growing. They are so cute!

I'm also not very good with exercising... I did manage toget myself to join my company's online yoga classes once a week, but in the current conditions I'd really need more exercise, twice a week at least.

Going back on topic, my company ends its financial year in March, meaning that year-end performance review discussions take place in April. My job involves people management as well, so I'll have to sit down with my direct reports to discuss their yearly performance and the rating they received based on it. As these are rather personal discussions, I was *really* hoping to be able to conduct them in person rather than online - but sadly that wish is not coming true... well, at least I don't have to give out any bad ratings - my peeps are super cool  - so I'm not expecting the discussions to be depressing or negative.

I (and basically my whole company) have been ordered to work from home a bit more than two weeks ago, shortly after our government has decided to apply restrictions and closed the country down. I hate it. I'm lucky to have a job that can be done from home, and I have already worked part-HO in the previous years (2 days from home, 3 days in the office), which works for me, but I've done full HO in the past, and decided never to do it again. Obviously now I don't have a choice, but I'm really hoping it will be over soon, as I'm starting to heavily miss being able to go out, be out and walk, I also miss people (no, video calls don't help with the aspect I'm missing), part of my privacy (my husband is also working from home, and we're basically in the same room all day), and my claustrophobia is also kicking in (yes, it hits me also in my own home when I can't go out for some time). For now I can mostly keep myself busy, but unfortunately the things I'd like to keep busy with are mostly creative, and if my mind is plagued by claustro-anxiety, the creative part is among the first to shut down, and I either can't do such stuff, or simply don't enjoy them (in which case why would I do them...). I was hoping the extra time I get by not having to get ready and commute to work will let me finish the tons of creative projects I have going on, but instead I more and more often find myself eiter spending the time staring in front of myself like a zombie, or feeling bored, not having the will or the right mindset to do anyting out of the thousands of things I'd normally love to have time for on a normal day  I really need to find a way to keep my head up before the situation gets worse, as I'm pretty sure we have more home office days ahead than what is already behind us :(

Customs / Re: Royal Rose - does she have fading pink hair?
« on: March 26, 2020, 01:47:16 AM »
Thank you for the responses! That's what my dilemma was, too... the ones I've seen on the internet all had vibrant pink hair, it seemed unlikely not to come across pictures of faded-haired ones if the hair was indeed fading. But then, there's the counterevidence from pinkkittywinks and tailrustedtealeaf  Is it possible that she had two variants, did things like this happen to ponies e.g. made in different factories? Again, I'm not sure how pink fading pink was when it was new, but to me this hair looks just a bit too vibrant and shiny to be the then fresh-out-of-factory-colour fading pink.

I guess I don't want to just wait and see, so she won't be staying out with the other pegasi then...

Glorious sunny day here in Middle England, which even brought out the butterflies.
My manager who is also in the UK was talking happily about having seen a butterfly too :)

Today my day was made better by the arrival of a package containing J-Dolls, and the fact that I managed to sell my old desk - my job can be done from full home office, and about two weeks ago we were ordered to work from home until further notice. While I knew already that my previous desk was not comfortable or healthy on the long run, for my regular 2x a week home office-scheme it was OK. Well not anymore - so I had to buy a new, bigger one quickly, or else I would have had other health issues very soon. It seems OK now, but we really didn't have the space for both tables, so I'm very happy there was interest for the ad I put up for the old one so quickly (it sold in 3 days. And to boot: the man who bought it seemed very sympathetic, and someone who has been looking for a table like this for awhile. He seemed so happy, which made me happy too, it is always heartwarming when my stuff goes to a good new home ^.^). Now  I am looking forward to move things around a bit during the weekend, as the mess has still not fully disappeared, but now I finally have some space again to put things to.

I guess I'll pass. It's not like I'd leave her behind if I found her at a thrift shop, but I wouldn't actively seek her out. And even if I came across her, I'd most likely trade her for a baity-haired one and rehair her (and repaint her symbol, because I cannot really understand the logic behind that either), because while her body colour is dark and unique, and I love purple, that paired with her hair colour is just... no. No-no.
She seems a little randomly put together, reminding me of the "new fresh colour gen.1 Furbies" which were actually randomly assembled from leftover parts the factory had, resulting in weird, non-coordinating colour combinations.

Hi all,

(some of you might remember, as I've surely complained about this in the past here&over on the MH Arena, that) 1/16" size ribbons are completely unavailable in my country. I've been looking for them for years, and haven't found a single shop that carried them, offline or online - or even heard about them. 1/8 is the thinnest ribbon around here, and you can imagine the surprised faces I've seen when I actually started to carry some 1/16 with me to show what I mean when I say thin satin ribbon! -_- But to their defense, I too only know about its existence from it being used on doll clothing.

Long story short, it is available in the US, and I found an eBay seller who has a great variety of colours. Shipping within the US also seems to be free. Would someone be able to help me by buying some for me (or offering their address to be shipped there - in this case I can do the actual buying and paying on eBay), and then forwarding the ribbons to me?

Thank you in advance to anyone who could help me out :)

I know right???
I also rehaired (as in gave actual hair to) my NC Rainbow Dash:

Doing the Custom Newborn Cuties gave me plenty of practise cutting a tail hole
Uh-oh, she looks great with actual hair! I might even prefer her like that :inlove: Now I need to resist the urge to do this to mine... >_< Well, maybe if I come across some fakie duplicates (I do have two fakies, but both are unique in colour and thus I wouldn't necessarily like to alter them).

Customs / Royal Rose - does she have fading pink hair?
« on: March 24, 2020, 02:57:31 AM »
Could someone please help me out by confirming whether the lighter pink in Royal Rose's hair is fading pink or not? The pictures I found of her online in a played with condition all show her with pink hair, which makes me believe it isn't the fading type, but since I'm totally no G3 expert, and don't have a lot of G1s who have really pink fading pink hair, I can't really determine.

I just found one with lovely bright pink hair, and I wouldn't leave her out if that would risk her hair losing its colour.

Thanks a lot for the help in advance! :lovey:

Pony Corral / Re: Who is your favourite blue pony?
« on: March 23, 2020, 04:16:09 PM »
(Even though some sources consider him purple, and there is truth in it,) I will say mine is G2 Clever Clover. Blue (and darker, not baby blue) was my favourite colour as a kid, so imagine my excitement when a *dark* blue pony showed up in the first G2 assortment - I was immediately in love, and he became my very first G2. I still consider him to be my favourite blue pony because of his not too usual dark colour scheme.

I have a soft spot for Bubbles! I love the sitting pose, and yellow ponies are usually my favourites, so she's among my favourite G1s ^.^ I have a regular version of her, as well as a bait, hair&tailless one I am planning to rehair with purple hair to create an ultimate favourite pose&colour combo. I've had the supplies for years, but never actually got to sit down and do it, so the poor girl has been bald for years :( got to find some time to finally work on her.

Fun fact: she looks ADORABLE in the bridal ponywear! My regular Bubbles has been wearing that outfit for years :inlove:

I also love the G3.5 Newborn Cuties! I just cleaned up most of mine, I hope I get to photograph them sometime soon :)
I love the cute braided tails, and the fact that you gave all of them actual tails. That's a feature I was always sort of missing from them (on one hand, yeah, the diaper is there, on the other hand, is the tail really inside the diaper and the poo? :lookround: That can't be too thought through
