First class postal delays out of Atlanta
« on: April 02, 2016, 06:23:51 AM »
Just a FYI for everyone. I had a chat with my post master yesterday. Atlanta is no longer flying first class mail out of the sorting centers. Everything is being sent by truck. He said that it can delay first class packages by a week or more. They're waiting for a "full" truck before moving the packages. If you're mailing on a time line and it may go through Atlanta, I strongly encourage you to use priority mail. With the increase in first class package weight, more people are using first class so the post office is trying to cut costs.

Thanks for the info!  I have noticed my first class mail I sent out has taken longer than usual to reach its destination so this definitely explains it now.

I had a package sit in Atlanta two weeks before it left for Austin. Yeah, I won't be using first class at all anymore.
