Title: Dolly Mix / Blind Bag Ponies Please Tell Me More
Post by: miss_skaife on September 15, 2012, 03:29:24 PM
It's been a while since I've been on the pony scene but while searching ebay I came accross Dolly Mix / Blind Bags with replica G1 ponies in them (in particular a snuzzle). I'd love some more information what can you girls (and boys) tell me. Thanks Heaps  :)

Edited to Dolly Mix :)

I love these guys even though their hair is hard to manage. The don't come up on eBay very often (at least not the US eBay, maybe you'll have better luck) so snag them up if you can!
You can also order a case from this site, but you do not get to pick which ponies you get. People have said they had good luck getting near-full sets when buying from here, but I've never done it myself.

Edit: Forgot to mention, there is a common error in Dolly Mix ponies where ponies who are supposed to be unicorns are made with earth pony heads. The color matches, but there's no horn.

You're welcome, guys. :) Always glad to help! I can't wait until I have a paying job and can order a case without guilt. It's a pretty good price all-in-all, but a bit much to lay down all at once for me. If you do order, let us know what you get!

If anyone wants to do a group order of Dollymix let me know because I'd be in for 2-3 packs.

I actually don't like dollymix ponies.....it might be different if I couldn't find them so easily though :P

Thanks for the link!  With the holidays coming up, it's one I can suggest to family who would rather not fiddle around on evilBay for used ponies (yeah, I had one hay of an objection from my folks when I suggested used ponies for me for Christmas...).

I wish they'd make blind bags like dollymixes instead of boring molded hair ;;

I can't wait now to get a case, I've been looking to buy these for a long time. I do wish they had done a second series of more  G1 characters but I'm happy they made as many as they did.

They still sell them in random places - you could find them throughout all of the UK in 3 of the main supermarkets - Asda, Tesco and Morrisons when they were at their peak but now I just see them in the occasional Tesco garage forecourt.

The G1 ponies were the second release as the company had previously released a Core 7 selection of the ponies.

I certainly agree that it goes to show ponies this size can happily have brushable hair maybe Hasbro will one day take note :)

Storydreamer, count me in on the group order...I definitely would be in for a box, I think (having seen the price on eBay, that's definitely the cheaper option than trying to get the individual toys.)

Just a quick note - I contacted the company, and they will happily ship to North America. ^.^  It's a bit on the pricey side, but all shipping seems to be to me these days... :P

Hahha yeah... I didn't check their fine print when I ordered and was all 'two pounds to canada? How reasonable!' and then she emailed me with '...actually, um. It's twelve pounds more' and sigh.

But at least I'm getting my dolly mixes!

You can have them shipped to me if you prefer but honestly for the size of box £12 isnt too bad. If you dont want the sweeties or all of the bags and leaflets it would be possible to ship them cheaper though :)

I would love to be in on a group order too, if anyone wants to get it together. I almost choked when I saw the conversion fro the price of 2 boxes plus shipping, but maybe we could all save some cash ordering together.

I'd be up for a full set minus candy shipped to the US.

The sweeties are actually the heaviest part - honestly guys if you want them ordered the only way something like a group order is ever going to be cheaper is if you wish only the ponies and you find someone to debag them on this side of the ocean. As mentioned as long as people pay in advance, I dont mind helping out but shipping may only reduce to a third or a half of the £12 quoted by the retailer.

That makes so much sense why I have some without the horn! So are there ones out there with the horn then?

Yes there are Glories with and without the horn - without seems to be more common now though.
