I've never heard  of the Brillitos before

Neither had I, until I found them on My Little Wiki.

Pony Corral / Re: What is the safest way to store G1 ponies?

Silica packets, air flow, lack of sunlight, not too hot... however you choose to store them, those seem to be the major factors in keeping them in good condition.  YMMV depending on your climate.  I would not store them the same way if I lived in the Southern USA vs Canada!

I live in a humid but pretty cool climate. I'm not too worried about heat or sun, but it can get musty/moldy in our closets.

Pony Corral / Sparkle/Glitter Ponies - which set do you prefer and why?
« on: February 27, 2024, 01:44:54 PM »
The G1 Sparkle ponies are my favorite set, but I can never decide if I prefer the Mail Order or store-bought versions! It's all about the glitter, I never outgrew the childish glee of having glitter all over everything. I liked the G3 ponies at first, but I got rid of them because the plastic started breaking down so quickly. I have many of the G4 glittery blind bags, but G4 can never compare to G1 for me.

I turn to the internet for opinions!

I set the poll up so you can choose two :) for people like me who can't decide.

Pony Corral / What is the safest way to store G1 ponies?

We're in the middle of reorganizing, and I can only rationalize keeping one pony shelf one display during this time. But I don't want the rest of my G1 collection (three more shelves' worth) to breakdown or be damaged. Any advice?

Pony Corral / Re: G1 basic fun plushie question.

I don't know if this will help with your specific project, but I've converted G4 plushes into G1 ponies. You can see an example here -> https://mlparena.com/index.php?topic=398443.0

What I did was I bought a sew-on patch that resembled the new pony's cutie mark, and just sewed it on right over the old one. I had to make sure the measurements were right, but once it was on, you'd never be able to tell there was anything beneath it.

Hope that gives you some ideas!

We mostly use Netflix, Amazon, and Disney+

Disney has so much of the old throwback stuff I used to watch as a kid, while Amazon has a bit of everything (I think Buffy is still on Prime) and Netflix is... Netflix lol. Currently enjoying the Witcher on Netflix.

I am reading three books right now:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter series)
Kushiel's Avatar (Kushiel's Legacy series)
Sword of Destiny (Witcher series)

Whoa, that's kinda cool. I don't have this issue with my Nappers, but my MO Star Hopper has a body/head mismatch because of the same issue. I don't have doubles of any other sparkle ponies, so I can't compare easily.

I can't think of anything specific, but I really really wish they'd more ponies in the G1 sitting pose.

For my Mimic custom, I used a spring green paint with a touch of yellow.

It looks like Assyrian or Old Persian cuneiform to me, but I can't tell much else about it. It does look as though someone made the marks by hand...

here's the wikipedia page about variations of cuneiform, maybe you can compare the marks to their alphabet charts.

Fireplaces are marketed as a luxury, so realtors love them.

When I lived in the Midwest US, almost no one had a fireplace. Bizarrely, we had a fireplace but instead of a place to build a fire, there was a grate that led straight to the central heating system, and hot air would blow out of it!

Fireplaces are practically a given on the West Coast, though, which has a milder climate. I don't know if climate is a factor though. Maybe its a culture thing?

That sounds lovely, Flitter!

We would love to have decorations on our back porch but the HOA of the apartments says that we can't have outdoor decorations, and if live trees are visible from a window they have to be taken down by January 1st. *eyeroll* We have an artificial tree and leave it up until February just to spite them lol.

Where I am, carbon monoxide monitors aren't required in houses at all, though I know retailers recommend them to anyone with a fireplace.

As far as wasps, I would call an exterminator! Not cool.
