Pony Corral / Re: When did MLP prices get so high?!
« on: December 26, 2020, 08:25:29 AM »
I'm confused as well- I bought happyglow, brightglow, and dazzleglow for around $20 each about three years ago (I remember that as they were the first ones I had spent real money on!). I didn't get starglow because I don't love the dancing butterflies pose- now they are going for 3-5 times that on ebay, I guess I will never complete that collection!

I haven't even started on that collection yet  last time I proper looked they were £20-£30 about two or three years ago, I looked in the last few weeks and they're £100-£150 like Mimic  :stunned:

And often you can tell when it's not a collector selling, some people think that because something isn't g4 it's worth big money.  these people tire me out and fry my brain.

Even with G4s this happens. These people think anything that's not currently on Walmart or Target shelves must be worth big money to some collector or desperate parent. It's really a pain when trying to fill collection gaps, pony or otherwise.

I have noticed a few pricey g4s

I'm currently looking to get the Rainbow Dash with the water wings and the only US seller has it in package for a ridiculous $50. It seems my only options are to deal with international sellers since even with the dollar being worth so little and shipping being so high it still ends up cheaper.
I have that same problem with all gens right now...things seem to be cheaper in the US even with some pricey delivery costs added to the price

MLP Nirvana / Re: Collecting Goals for 2021

I'm rebuilding my normal g1 collection starting with sets I never completed before. And building a collection of g3's.

But also...I have my eye on some of the cheaper nirvanas like some Italians, the odd Brazilian and Macau (though tbf I'm mainly eyeing up Peachy's of those types for my Peachy army).

One day I'd love to own a piggy...maybe by the end of 2021  I particularly like the look of the Snuzzle piggy, which reminds me I need to start work on the Snuzzle army in 2021

Pony Corral / Re: What is each perfume puff pony supposed to smell like?
« on: December 25, 2020, 10:49:07 AM »
I have two Dahlia's they both smell a little 'perfumey' but one is slightly stronger than the other (I think the baitier one smells stronger)

Is the scent with them just in the hair or is it in the plastic like sweetberry ponies? Because my Raspberry Jam still smells Jammy and Boysenberry Pie smells a bit and I read that with them it's in the plastic.

I'm in a similar postion, I'm having  to rebuild my collection, some that I've sold previously because I wasn't in a good financial situation and others have been in the odd box that's vanished during moving from place to place (always seem to lose something)  >_<

I've noticed you really have to scour places like ebay for good deals. Etsy has a few things on it as well.

I do feel that some sellers are chancers...trying to get way more, the only way to stop that is to not pay silly prices. I have really been strict with myself, the g3s are also going for silly prices in some cases. And often you can tell when it's not a collector selling, some people think that because something isn't g4 it's worth big money.  these people tire me out and fry my brain.

Although technically people can charge what they want and maybe if they don't get the money they ask they'll slowly put their prices down. And it is the wrong season to be searching  just keep checking

Pony Corral / Re: weird pony dreams/premonitions
« on: December 25, 2020, 09:48:42 AM »
Alrighty! Here it is! It’s a bit scary!

I had a scary unnerving dream. This dream sounds like a bad stereotypical creepypasta and it is but when you dream it, it actually feels unnerving yet kinda cool.

It was about the g1 mlps, they would sell the mlps normally but you can also see how they make them. You go in this underground room, you look at the stairs. First it’s the normal media appearances you see pictures ads of the ponies, then it shows a picture of them, then it has kinda creepy and not the cutest art and kinda unnerving. My dream describes it like something from DA. Then you see the actual ponies and someone said to not go down the last stairs, that is when a real life mlp will catch you and use your skin and body parts to make more ponies! When you see the actual ponies from the last stairs, you are actually seeing the last victims skin on the ponies. This pony kinda looks like Shady, lures children and even adults to come in the cave that looks like a room. At first the toys where made out of boy horses by a bunch of worker men.

The kids will play with the toys at first and it gave this creepy vintage vibe like someone being edgy making it look scary and the kids were still playing with the ponies. It said that it has been happening for 101 years and wanted to make it a big thing in the 80s so more children can be lured in. Then one day, the pony who killed children was caught, a lot of ponies and children escaped but not all of them escaped, the last one to escape was a pastel yellow rainbow curl pony in g2 form, she was struggling under a giant metal door, the killer pony was about to catch her but let her go for some reason. The rainbow curl pony was saying she’s free and how happy she is. Then the people who found out about this creepy pony cave, for one they thought it was a good idea to continue the mlp franchise of course without made of children’s skin! They also made a museum/interactive place to see what happened and what they did. Rumors say that killer pony and her pony workers and human workers and her captured boy ponies and captured humans are still in that cave alive! To everyone else it’s a rumor but, my dream said that it’s true.

Then I woke up, thought about the creepy dream, then looked over at my vintage mlp’s thinking, “Imagine if those are actually made out of human skin!”
Now that is a bit creepy  :lookround:  a bit House of 1000 Corpses

Pony Corral / Re: POTD 12/25/2020 Merry Treat
« on: December 25, 2020, 09:42:39 AM »
I have her, she's the centerpiece on our coffee table surrounded shiny ribbon tassle thingy bobs and unicorn confetti (I improvised).

I've always liked Merry Treats, not just for the Christmas aspect but green and red mane and tail...like my favourite pony Gusty. My Merry Treats was a gift from a fellow collector.

So many G3 ponies  I will be in touch after Christmas if they've not been snapped up

It's really sad that you're selling your collection but good luck with the sales and have a happy holidays

Wanted! / Re: ISO G3 Port-O-Bella
« on: December 23, 2020, 02:09:25 AM »
Ooh...I don’t mind a pony needing a little tlc, I would be ready to buy a couple of weeks after Christmas but if I have to wait a little longer I wouldn’t mind...dodgy time atm with the mail so I can wait if necessary, my birthday is the 9th of Jan so that’s about the time I’d be ordering her  :)

I don’t mind ponies that need tlc

Also...let me know shipping fee as well please  :frolic:

Wanted! / ISO G3 Port-O-Bella
« on: December 22, 2020, 04:08:21 PM »
Hi pony fans, I’m looking for a G3 who appears to be hard to find. Her name is Port-O-Bella and she came in a 2 pack with G3 Lickerty Split.
I’m putting out feelers for her now, separately or as part of the two pack with the hope of finding her and being able to purchase after Christmas...my birthday is a couple of weeks after Christmas.
I’m in the UK, I don’t mind if I have to buy her internationally...hoping for a reasonable price though expecting a bit of expense due to being hard to find.

Introductions / Hello
« on: November 02, 2020, 05:21:51 AM »
Hello,
I’m DarkUnicornMoon, 36 year old pony collector (although I’ve been inactive for a while). I’ve collected ponies on and off since I was a little girl, I do have a few ponies (about 50 now I would say) including an army of Peachy. I prefer vintage (gen 1) ponies.
I live in Wales, UK. I have been looking at possibly starting to grow my collection again (slowly).
I do play the my little pony mobile game, and still love to watch the first two movies (vintage) as I have them on dvd, sadly I don’t have all of them on dvd.

I should add my favourite pony is Gusty. I’ve always loved her. And luckily I have her. I do have a lot of my favourite ponies but I have had many more in the past but through house moves and difficult times I’ve lost some. But I’ll try and get back those I loved the most.
And of course they’ve remade some of my favourites, though not quite the same as having an original it will be good if I can’t find or afford the original.

I don’t mind other generations but the first will always be my favourite. I remember being able to buy a gen1 in Woolworths it was just amazing standing there trying to decide which ponies to buy. Kinda still get starstruck when I get some ponies.
