are some G2s easier to find MOC/MIB than loose? One example is Teddy. I've seen several MOCs for sale, but only seen her loose once.

I don't really collect G2s (I have 2 lol) but when I picked out a couple I thought I'd like to hunt down I found them MIB several times over but absolutely none loose

your so right! I am looking for that set loose but can only find them mib

That also depends on where you live. Here in the Netherlands you can find more G2 ponies, most of them loose.

So many of them are probably boxed because the kids didn't like them and their parents just chucked them into the attic.

Totally! And some of the earliest released ones are cheaper MOC than some G4s! I am guessing its probably an indicator of them being poor sellers or a generally unpopular line at the time they were out. Therefore we come across a lot of excess stock which probably cleared cheap or sat in cupboards as unwanted and unopened toys.
